Description

These Precision Wire Strippers feature an adjustment dial that allows the operator to select one of six different settings. A calibrated wire stop can then be adjusted for the desired insulation strip length. In a single motion, the operator squeezes and pulls the tool. This action engages four specially hardened blades to cleanly cut the wire insulation while the pulling motion breaks the insulation/conductor bond. Adjustable to six wire gauges: 26-36 AWG. Measures 3.9' length by 1.6" height by 0.6' thickness.

  • Best Precision Strippers I Have Tried
Style: 26-36 AWG
This is the best precision wire stripper I have used. I can carelessly strip 34 gauge conductors with really fine outer wall thickness diameters without any damage to the conductors and clean cuts on the insulator. It is likewise effective in removing smaller jackets from multi-conductor cables with such conductors in them. It is also a pretty easy tool to learn to use. Also, as a sign of high quality, I can easily feed a 34 gauge wire here with it set for 30 awg and it passes right through with only light scraping along the insulator; it is really amazingly precise vs other stripping methods. My only qualm is it feels/looks much cheaper and lower quality than it is; at first when I saw this style of stripper, I thought it was a piece of junk I had been duped into buying. Quite wrong. Jonard could benefit from a designer. ... show more

  • Quick and Painless
Style: 26-36 AWG
I needed a smaller ST-450 for stripping and so far it has worked great. Especially in tight places it has worked beautifully. A few times I have needed sub 26 awg, but I'm thinking if I also had the ST-500, I'd be grabbing the wrong one half the time because they are both the same color. Maybe one should be blue, one yellow? I still love the tool. Expensive price for what it is. ... show more

  • Expensive but virtually without equal
Style: 18 to 28 AWG
For what it is, this product is horrendously expensive, HOWEVER it is the third identical one I have purchased it the past 10 years as there are few if any tools on the market that compare to this item. I use it for precision stripping 18 - 32 AWG wire that is going to be crimped into commercial and military grade connector crimps. The tool has 2 adjustments, one for the diameter of the wire (annoyingly in mm but they provide a handy table on the side to convert to AWG so no issue)and a slider that adjusts to very accurately set the length of the wire to strip. This tool allows me to very consistently and accurately strip cores in multi-core cables prior to precision crimping and I simply would be lost without it. The blades are good for 2,500 - 4,000 strips and if you set it up correctly it is virtually impossible to accidentally cut through a wire core. For military and aircraft grade work like I do every day, this tool is a must have and I have one in my mobile tool kit as well. This tool is not cheap but I still give it 5 stars and would highly recommend it if you need this type of precision. ... show more

  • Pretty good but...
Style: 26-36 AWG
The strippers on the right were purchased in the early eighties and were fantastic. But they are no longer available and the blades a quite worn. I can't even identify them because the foil label has rubbed clean. The method on the left is what I have been using for years and although it's a bit awkward to use can outperform any wire stripper. I've stripped some fairly fine headphone/earbud wires with very few strands without loosing strands. These strippers are nice but I still find myself using the flat plyers with a razor blade most of the time. ... show more

  • Not calibrated, not accurate, cuts wire in addition to insulation.
Style: 20-30 AWG
For $35, the Jonard ST-500 claims to accurately strip wire from AWG 20 to AWG 30. It has settings that correspond to AWG 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30. However, when set to strip AWG 24 stranded copper wire, it cuts two or three strands of the wire as it cuts through the insulation, and to avoid this I have to set it to AWG 20 to get a clean strip, which means that I can't strip #20 or #22 stranded wire without cutting some strands. The sliding stop that allows you to set how much insulation is removed has invisible markings to facilitate positioning the stop (they are inside the slot that carries the stop, and they are not inked so they are impossible to see in most lighting conditions), and most importantly those same marks (were they visible) would facilitate re-positioning the stop once you have decided where it needs to be to remove a particular amount of insulation. It would be easy to put labeled tick marks on the slide at 2mm increments and put marks slightly further apart on the stop at (perhaps 2.1mm increments) to allow vernier adjustment and repeatability. But the current design doesn't perform accurately or with precision what it is intended to do. I can do a cleaner more repeatable strip with my 50 yr old $3 General #68 strippers or the current equivalent - the $7 IRWIN VISE-GRIP Wire Stripping Tool / Wire Cutter, 5-Inch (2078305) I returned them. ... show more

  • Great Stripper for Small Wire
Style: 20-30 AWG
A bit overpriced. But it does what it is supposed to do well. It worked well on my test of 28 guage wire.

  • Good product
Style: 18 to 28 AWG
Well built and works very well. Does not nick the wire if you set it right.

  • Best stripper ever
Style: 18 to 28 AWG
I have tried many wire strippers for 28 gauge wire, all of them had torn the strands of wire. This is the only one that, when used correctly will remove the jacket cleanly.
