  • Nothing beats these for finish work or stripper replacement.
Style: Standard Grip Pattern Name: Stripper
I don’t often write reviews. I always want to, but I figure someone else probably said what I was going to say or I get busy and forget. These earned a mention, though. I have linesman pliers. Klein and knipex. You’ll get great linesman from either. The thing is, I still don’t know what they’re for. They twist wire great, but don’t strip it. They cut some cables, but often struggle with Larger multi conductor cables. After 10-3 it’s a lot of effort to cut/fit cable in there. They’re good for light hammering (be honest), and cutting smaller cables. That’s really it. There’s a reason hybrid pliers have exploded in the last 5 years. South Wire offers a plier that cuts better than any linesman, strip’s Romex sheath and strips 14 and 12. Klein has fantastic hybrids, especially that grey and black linesman hybrid. Not to mention a few 18-10 hybrids. Milwaukee and ideal have new offerings as well. It’s not the 1940s and original linesman just doesn’t solve all the problems these new offerings do. 9-10” heavy duty dykes for all your staple pulling, heavy cable/conductor cutting (even if it’s a few nips to get through, zip tie, knockout hammer, etc. Hybrid pliers Screw drivers Razor That will solve everything thrown at you. Why I like these hybrids? Good enough stripper selection. 18-10 and super sharp. Cuts romex and feeder conductors easier than any linesman. Slim and light. The nose is wide for twisting. but slim to get in tough areas. There’s a groove midway in the knurled twisting face that makes the perfect loop for devices. After you strip, keep them slightly closed, push the conductor in that groove and it’s the perfect width for 14 and 12 loops. The protruded guide between the 14 and 12 gauge stripper holes make the muscle memory lightning fast. The slim designs makes setting and getting your stripped length fast and effortless. The spring assist is not in the way, visible, or foul-able. The thumb lock breaks in perfect. The real hidden surprise though, is the 6-32 and 8-32 screw cutter. You don’t thread the screws in or out. No more getting your flat or Philips or impact out to thread it all the way in and back out. Just stick it through, cut, you’re done. This Makes devicing so much faster and easier. I don’t know how it gets it done without the need to clean/rethread by the old process of manually unscrewing, but it works flawlessly. Imagine blank plating in seconds not minutes. drawbacks: not appropriate as a light hammer for notching wood with a flat head, or for enclosure knockouts. too light and fit-dependent to use in that fashion. The shear/cutting area is a few inches away from the start of the tool. You have to open them wider and guide the tool or cable to the cutting surface; more than on dykes or linesman. If I was roughing, I’d use the Klein hybrid linesman. If you’re finishing, these can’t be beat. ... show more

  • Great product!
Style: Standard Grip Pattern Name: Stripper
If you like to work with high quality tools that feel good in the hand and perform as expected, spend a little extra and buy Knipex. I have started replacing many of my pliers for Knipex brand equivalents and couldn't be happier. My opinion they are worth the spend.

  • Simply the best.
Style: Comfort Grip Pattern Name: Stripper
Was a Klien guy forever. But seems the quailty has gone to crap. NOT these. If you like hybrid pliers youll love these. Best ive used so far. Went from Klien to Milwaukee for a while. But these are top notch quality and the do the job. Only down side is they arent a great "hammer" lol A little pricey but if you take care of them and use them properly (ONLY CUT COPPER WIRE) theyll last a life time. ... show more

  • Knipex did it again
Style: Comfort Grip Pattern Name: Stripper
I am an aircraft mechanic and third world house electrician. These are by far the nicest strippers and cable cutters I have ever used. The unique ridged design of the strippers makes it very easy to hit the right size without having to read the gauge size every time. The cutter section is very sharp and strong. I wouldn’t try to cut a nail or piano wire, but for electrical wires and cables it works very well. Highly recommend for anyone who is doing more than occasional electrical work. Well worth the knipex price. ... show more

  • Knipex does it again
Style: Comfort Grip Pattern Name: Stripper
Truly the best brand for the trades. Every knipex tool I own is made so extremely well. These things are amazing and do such a great job and stripping and cutting, not to mention you can use the tip as a reamer. You can surprisingly cut bolts/threaded rod like a knife through butter. I love the index finger lock, they never get hung up and after razor sharp still after daily use. ... show more

  • Love it
Style: Comfort Grip Pattern Name: Stripper
Spring-open design makes for easy one handed operation. Cuts through wire like butter. Strip gauges also work well, I like that they are clearly labeled for the gauge and stranded vs solid wire.

  • New overpriced, maybe too good for even the pros.
Style: Comfort Grip Pattern Name: Stripper
Nice tool. I am fond of the lock. the non lever type is not obtrusive. That is good. The blades are thick and the knives sharp. I don't think it fits stranded wire too well. Lots of nicks if using 12/12 Lots of tearing insulation if using 10/12 i.e., the solid hole, same gauge is too small, the next size up is too large. It would be nice if the tip was crosshatched. That way the twisted wires would not splay when twisted. I have been using an Irwin pair that works great except for the narrow tip that splayed the wires. I used the Irwin to strip then crosshatched duckbills to twist. Two tools, With this one I was trying to get down to one. Didn't work., Maybe I can get a diamond file and cut crosshatching in. We will see. Anyhow, these are built well. Maybe overbuilt since the others cost 1/4th as much so you can replace them often and not come close to the cost of this one. However, if this lasts 4x longer before going dull or opening up even more (which would make it pretty much useless for stranded, unless you want nicked and damaged wire, it might be OK. Again, We will see. I'll give them a good month of work before I decide to go back to before and carry an additional tool or not. ... show more

  • Best wire strippers ever
Style: Comfort Grip Pattern Name: Stripper
I’ve used many wire strippers and this is the end all be all/ bees knees of the wire strippers world. The shears on this cut MC like butter. The stripping accuracy is amazing. The build quality is unbeatable. The grip is comfortable for long term use. My only gripe is that I wish it would strip down to 8 solid-10 stranded. ... show more
