  • Good pedal for solo players…boost is so so
Style: The AT+ Pattern Name: Pedal
I returned this item and replaced with a Dirty Little Secret MK3. It’s a great pedal especially rubbing at 18v 100w mode! However I found the bass was lacking a bit, and way too tight for Rhythm guitar. It also didn’t stack well with my other pedals. It’s just it’s own thing really. Has lots of distortion, sounds very hifi Mesa/Marshall like and is for the Andy and Steve Vai lovers. Or a dedicated solo box here. The boost is very low I found, and it is a TS808 style. It will get more mid range and cut bass. But that was my issue, I wish they kept more low end in, and let the boost cut and tighten the bass when engaged. It has a lot of great sustain for solo players, and it works on any amp given the presence knob. It’s pretty much a great being every where and plug into any back line amp…if you like the sound and tour, it’ll save you from any amps you may not like. It also works well with effects like source audio and Strymon. But it’s really just click the one pedal, put some effects and go to solo town. Probably great for worship lead guitar players, and solo players. Your normal every day Rhythm player or player that stacks a lot…may not like it and find it a bit pricey. It may have stayed on my board as a dedicated solo pedal. But at the cost I couldn’t justify it! If the pros outweigh the cons I mentioned grab this pedal! It sounds great, but does have some limitations in the voicing of the low end and low mids. ... show more

  • Used?
Style: Angry Charlie Pattern Name: Pedal
So I got this one at a discount because it was supposedly used or returned or something. It has some scratches on the knobs like it got knocked upside down and slid on concrete or something. I don't care though because this is the single best sounding pedal I've ever heard! This is my new sound! I like to play a Slash type of distorted rock and this puts me right there! Sounds 9 out of 10 of a Marshall amp. I'd imagine that if it sounded 100% like a Marshall the end user wouldn't know though because in the end, the amp you're using isn't a Marshall and the speakers in it aren't cellestions. If they were you wouldn't need this pedal, that's why you buy this pedal. It's cheap than that set up. It sounds good and right at normal practice levels and at higher volume (bar band volume) it sounds exactly like a cranked up Marshall on about 7 or as close as one can get without having the real thing. I've played it only through my solid state amp thus far because my tube amp is waiting on new tubes at the moment but when I finally get to play it through my tube amp I will update if there's a negative you need to know about. Otherwise assume it works equally well on either style of amp. I was worried it wouldn't be able to "push" my solid state the right way to get the right sounds but it works perfectly. I also turned up my amp to the same levels with its onboard distortion and while it sounds damn good, this pedal blows it away because of the pedal's specific Marshall-y sound. There's just something more powerful and trebly about the pedal even at the same levels of my amp's distortion. I've played a lot of pedals in my life and none have ever compared to my amp's distortion but this one is definitely better! This also doesn't produce obnoxious feedback like many other pedals do. This just pushes the amp just hard enough to sound like a loud Marshall halfstack instead of overly compressing your sound into a fake crappy distortion that is unusable like pretty much all other destortuon pedals do. If I were buying again I'd get this or the @ version. ... show more

  • JHS MorningGlory
Style: Morning Glory Pattern Name: Pedal
Have been reading about this pedal for years. I'm a big fan of JHS pedals and the owner Josh says this is either their #1 or #2 top seller, now I see why. It will play clean, it will distort a little if you want, or full distortion/overdrive is pretty strong. Can do everything. On my board, I start with a tuner, into this MorningGlory and then into my Klon KTR. My Klon is my ultimate pedal ever and when I kick in the MorningGlory to boost the Klon, the tone is amazing. Modulation effects finish the chain. Buy it, you will glad you did. ... show more

  • I love this pedal!!
Style: Morning Glory Pattern Name: Pedal
This pedal is great!! The amount of versatility is amazing!! I can tune this in to have just a hint of breakup perfect for playing in my church, but then again I can turn up the drive and flip the switch and I can get a really big drive sound! It’s god plenty of headroom as well! The volume knob is extremely sensitive! This thing is absolutely perfect for what I needed!! ... show more

Great Pedal. You won't be disappointed. When you play this pedal, if it sounds bad, it's your playing not the pedal. Cheers.

  • Fantastic JTM-45 emulation
Style: Charlie Brown Pattern Name: Pedal
This is a fantastic pedal. Very amp-like in its response and feel. I’d compare it very favorably to the ZVEX Box of Rock and/or Distortron. Where this pedal has both these beat, is in its 3-band EQ. It costs a little more than the Distortron, but the EQ is worth it. It’s also made right here in the USA. Think of the drive knob as the volume on an old tube amp. It will only really distort at around 2 o’clock and beyond. You get great breakup with pick attack before that point. At 3 o’clock and beyond, things get very saturated and saggy, like you would expect a JTM-45 to behave. I previously owned a Friedman Mini Dirty Shirley combo, because I wanted that JTM-45 sound. You don’t need a $1800 hardwired amp to get that. If you have an amp that takes pedals well, just get one of these. I originally intended to stack a Timmy into this for more gain. But that’s not needed with humbuckers. Just turn the drive up as high as your guitar’s volume pot will allow you to so you can adequately dial things back for cleanish tones. You won’t need a gain boost if you’re after vintage 60s to early 70s British rock tones. A fantastic pedal. ... show more
