    • Works well, but be really careful packing it up for transport and storage

The weak point of this stove is within the burner flame ignition system, which has a tiny wire where the spark leaps to lights the gas on fire. This tiny wire t can malfunction if bent out of its position and place. It's located in the base of the burner. And it's really easy to accidentally bend it . If and when it gets bent out of place, no spark will connect with the gas to produce the flame. I've read lots of reviews about the lighter failing after about 3 uses both on amazon and REI. I've used this little stove on several kayak camping trips where packing is stuffing your camp equipment and gear into holes inside dry bags with lots of opportunities to dent such a wire if not well packed into its cook cup. I can see this being an issue with packing up a backpack or even car kitchen mess kit. So it's very important to make sure to pack the stove inside the cup to protect the ignition wire and when cooking to be careful not to bang it with a pot, then it will survive to work. Bring along a wee bitty lighter for back up just in case. Or waterproof matches, tho you will have a nice little ongoing flaming torch until the waterproof match burns out. since these little torches are not designed to extinguish! I also purchased the jetboil cooking pot for soups to share with my partner and another easy thing to mess up is the plastic protection lid for the base of the cooking pot. The protection lid also serves as your food plate until you forget to take it off first before placing the cooking pot on the burner! Now, mine looks like a purposeful donut-shaped protection cover and still does a very fine job of protection for the base. This little stove boils water super fast, and the low temp control works as advertised. Will see how long it takes me to mess up that ignition wire! ... show more

Edit: 5 stars still stand and it was truly a lifesaver as I wound up staying a couple extra nights in remote Alaska. It operated without fail. I'm very impressed with it. For back or bike packing this is a handy versatile cooking unit. Easy to use and efficient. Things to like/love: - The igniter is great. - Easy to clean - The cover around the cooking cup works great - Controlling the heat is a snap - Packs up maybe a little bigger than others but still lightweight I used this for heating up anything with liquid and the base unit with a frying pan for cooking eggs, sausage, bacon, etc. I've seen youtube videos of packers touting cheaper units but I have confidence in the MinoMo. One of my buds was very interested in getting one to replace his cheaper unit. I'm sure there are units that boil faster but only by a bit. When I'm out camping I'm not in that much of a hurry anyway. ... show more

The cook pot is a very practical size. The stove overall is amazing. I've used it so far to boil eggs, boil water for freeze dried food pouches, and heat up soup from a can. the regulator works well to adjust the flame, and on full flame water boils almost immediately. The construction doesn't feel as solid as I would like, the burner is kind of loose / rocks left to right when I have the mug attached. Other than that, its fast, easy to clean, I have the french press which works great. I would only buy something else if I was trying to go as light as possible.

We bought one a couple years ago, and bought this one for a friend for his birthday. They are amazing! Heats up water super quick. Easy to pack up and take with us while we are out hunting, or drifting for the day. Super easy to use.

    • Tried much cheeper knock off and still came back to JetBoil

Tried knock off on Amazon, was 2.5 times cheeper, but returned the next day received, just didn't feel right , and when tried to pack it back put it in a way that it got stuck - not a great design to have the stove get stuck in the bowl while on the trip! Was deciding between micro and minimo, the lid on micromo seems have issues (based on what I was watching and listening), so got minimo, and as soon as I tried it out I knew I made a right decision! I am camping, not backpacking, so size is not an issue for me. Tried to heat up water for a cup of coffee (8 oz) - took less then 1 min!! And bought this on 35% sale, happy about it! ... show more
