Description

Great for home or professional gyms, the Body-Solid Flat Incline Decline Bench (FID46) delivers comprehensive upper- and lower-body workouts. This commercially rated incline workout bench has nine starting positions that range from declined to flat to inclined, letting you perform a wide variety of barbell and dumbbell exercises from their correct positions. The heavy-gauge 3-inch round stock steel mainframe and 2. 75-inch seat and back pads are durably constructed to stand up to heavy use in clubs and gyms. The removable leg developer section offers lower body workouts concentrated on the quads and hamstrings, letting users perform leg extensions with full 90-degree seat back support and lying leg curls from the traditional arched prone position. Upholstered 4- by 8-inch rollers and two sets of cushioned hand grips keep you comfortable and secure while you lift. The leg developer supports weights up to 1, 000 pounds (weight plates sold separately), with oversized brash bushings for friction-free movement. The Body-Solid Flat Incline Decline Bench measures 75 by 28 by 31 inches (L x W x H) and features bottom wheels that allow you to easily move the bench from the living room to the garage. This incline gym bench is an excellent companion to the Powerline by Body-Solid Power Rack (PPR200X) and the Body-Solid 7 Series Smith Machine (GS348Q) (sold separately). It is backed by the Body-Solid Lifetime In-Home and Full Commercial . Perfect for all types of barbell and dumbbell exercises, the Body Solid FID46 bench works great in power racks, Smith machines, and a host of other workout systems. The bench is outfitted with a heavy-gauge, 3-inch, round-stock-steel mainframe that's tough and durable, along with nine-position, 2.75-inch seat and back pads that will never bottom out. As a result, you can adjust the bench to several different foolproof positions, including flat, incline, and decline. The removable leg developer, meanwhile, makes it a breeze to work out your quads or hamstrings while sitting on the bench, with a pair of cushioned hand grips adding stability. And thanks to the bottom wheels, you can easily move the bench from the living room to the garage. Other details include upholstered 4-by-8-inch rollers and oversized brash bushings for friction-free movement and a weight capacity of more than 1,000 pounds. The bench, which measures 28 by 31 by 75 inches (W x H x D), carries a lifetime warranty.

  • Great Equipment (even after 5 years of continuous use)
Update 12/20/2016 (over 5 years after purchase): I just finished working out using this bench again. It is so rare to find such a quality piece of equipment I decided I had to write a thank you to the company in the form of updating this review. This has held up perfectly. It is as solid now as it was the day I put it together and I have never had an issue with it. This bench and an awesome treadmill are the major pieces in my home gym and I am thankful for them everyday. Unless you are under 150 pounds, I would not risk a flimsy weight bench like all of the others I saw when I first purchased this. If this does not convince you by itself, add your weight to the maximum amount you ever expect to lift and then compare the maximum weight load of the benches you are considering purchasing. My old bench broke while doing dumbbell presses for just this reason. It was my fault for not reading the maximum weight load. Original Post 2011: This is an incredible piece of equipment. I had to purchase a new bench when my last bench broke. I am 250 pounds and have worked my way up to 95 pound dumbbells for flat bench press. Sitting on the bench holding these is a total weight of approximately 450 pounds. If you check the other bench options on Amazon(I had to find PDF owner's manuals on line to do this for most of them), some will only take a total of 250 lbs. Others say a user weight of 300 pounds but give no indication of the amount of weight you can lift in addition to that. Kind of an important piece of information given the purpose of a weight bench. The bow flex bench can take 300 pounds of user weight and 180 pounds of weight on top of that giving a total of 480 pounds. That was too close for comfort, but clearly my second choice. This bench is suggested take 800 to 1000 pounds of total weight. And it was not much more than the bow flex bench. This also can go from decline to military press for positions. This thing is built like a tank. Even though this would have been my choice based on maximum weight and number of positions for the price, it has another huge benefit. That is the ability to get a leg workout in your home. I had previously just accepted I would not be able to do leg workouts at home. No longer. This thing gives a great leg workout also. And the leg part comes off easily which is very important for me. I hate having it attached when I am doing flat bench press. The bad, or at least less than ideal: 1) My bench may have been opened by someone else and sent back. All of the pieces were there, but the finish on some of the bars had been scratched due to rubbing up against each other during shipping. Straps and cardboard that looked like it would have protected it had been cut and were still in the box. It does not look very bad, just does not look new. Since I am primarily interested in the solid workout this allows, this is not a huge deal to me. 2) The assembly instructions had one piece out of order. The handles should not be put on until after the seats are attached. A little frustrating, but easy to resolve once you realize the seats won't go on with the bolts that need to be tightened prior to putting the handles on. 3) The thing is huge. I ended up turning around the front legs to reduce the footprint in my weight area. It is high also. This is necessary to provide decline all the way up to military press with the design. Being 6'4", it was surprising to feel that way. But by my second workout, it feels totally natural. Overall, I don't think I could have done better for under $270.00 in a single piece of equipment. If you have the space (and you should check), this is a great buy. I am very satisfied with this in my first week. ... show more

  • Excellent value if you can tolerate the assembly process
If you're looking for a leg extension + prone leg curl machine, this is a very tough product to beat for the money. In general I'm pleased with my purchase, assembly took a couple hours due to having to undo some steps in order to ensure the seat and back pad holes line up properly with the frame. I am also missing a bronze bushing so I'll have to reach out to Body Solid about that to see if I can get some spare parts sent out. The leg attachment definitely wobbles but it's securely attached so while it may not feel sturdy I am confident it won't disassemble itself during use. Additionally, the pads are very soft compared to my Rogue AB-2, only time will tell if they eventually flatten out and need replacement. ... show more

  • Awful assembly, poor function.
Minus 1 star for assembly and 2 stars for function. Assembly: First, it looked like the package was dropped off the back of the delivery truck and drug the last mile to my house. Not the manufacturer's fault, but still poor form by the Amazon delivery driver. Once I opened up the box everything looked to be in good shape and all the pieces were accounted for, or so I thought. A lot of the parts have little brass fittings that are supposed to be zip-tied into place until time of assembly. These brass fittings are not listed on the parts list, nor mentioned in any step of assembly instructions, so I didn't account for them when doing a parts inventory. The problem is, when the delivery driver drug the box behind his truck a lot of the zip ties holding the brass fittings into place broke and the fittings scattered everywhere in the box (and possibly out of the box when it broke open). Since they weren't mentioned in the assembly instructions at all, I had no idea where they were supposed to go, or how many there were supposed to be. I took my best guess, but by the end I ended up with 2 fittings left over that I still don't know where they go. Also, the bench pads don't look like the picture, and are not labeled, so you have to guess which way they go on. Lastly, one of the holes in the seat pad didn't line up with the frame, so I couldn't attach one of the bolts. Function: The bench is too tall. I'm 6'3" and I can't put my feet flat on the floor while benching. My wife can't even get her toes in the ground while laying on the bench. We have to put blocks under her feet. It's too heavy, making it very difficult to move. I'm fine, but again my wife has real trouble. Also, you'd think that it's heavy to make it sturdy, but it is a bit wobbly. However, that may be due to the brass fittings that didn't get installed. Finally, and most importantly, the leg curl/extension tower is awful. It fits very loosely in the bench post causing it to wobble significantly. It is also crooked and leans left when extending rather than straight out, so at full leg extension the pad is halfway up your left shin, and all the way out on your toes of your right foot. My primary reason for purchasing this bench over others was specifically for the leg curl/extension tower, so for that to not work is really disappointing. Side note, the seat pad started coming apart during my first workout. Overall, disappointing purchase. ... show more
