I thought I would test out this negative ion generator because it was on the lower end of the price spectrum. There are several models that are similar which you just plug in the wall and it works to freshen a smaller sized room. The concept is that the negative ions bond with particles in the air (dust, odors) and cause them to fall to the ground. This method does work as I can testify from full sized air purifiers. I tried this out is a bathroom where we keep a litter box. I left it for three days to give it a fair chance. The light was on indicating that is should be working, but I never noticed any change what so ever. Many of the comment i other reviews stated the same thing, even many of the good reviews stated they could not tell if it was working. There are devices that can test for negative ions, but I do not own one, so I have to go by if I notice any difference. This product may work if you get a working unit, but mine did not and I am not giving it another chance. ... show more

A seasonal hay-fever sufferer, I bought a few of these and populated my apartment with them. The allergy symptoms stopped. I only realized it was working when I opened some windows one nice day, overwhelming the units. I like that the carbon fiber bundles are pointing downward. They're out of the way while still being effective. The unit holds them away from the wall so your wall doesn't get soiled by the charged particulates. This is not an ozone generator (a pollutant). The indicator lights are way too bright (one star taken for that). You can knock this down by popping off the front panel (unplugging it first, of course), removing the four tiny screws with a tiny phillips screwdriver, opening it up and applying a Sharpie to the LED chips. I put this in my living room hoping to keep dust down, but I can't really tell a difference. I put it in a small bathroom and closed the door...I could smell ions then. So, it works on a very small scale.

It made my bathroom smell fresh and clean. My negative ion tester shows very efficient release of negative ions in the air around the device. The testing report shows at 10cm (open space) 34 million negative ions per second.

    • Don’t waste your money
I bought this to use in my entry and 2 bathrooms because my neighbors constantly smoke in their garage and the toxic poisonous smoke gets into the walls through outlets and cracks into my house making me sick every day with burning eyes, migraine headaches, I can’t breathe and snot constantly running out of my nose.
