  • Write Protect SDHC - Not
Style: Compact USB-C Docking Station with PD Pa...
I am using this on a 2018 MacBook Pro. I haven't had the chance to use all the I/O ports that this offers yet, but what I have used seem to work fine with one exception. If you write protect your SD Card, this docking station ignores it. The write protect slider on SD cards only trips a flag, and it is up to the device to honor that write protect "suggestion" or ignore it. This docking station ignores it. Normally this wouldn't necessarily be a problem, but on some of the older CPAP machines it is. When you plug in your SD card, Mac OS X writes a few hidden folders and numerous files to the card. I can freely write to, and delete from a "write protected" card as well. On certain CPAP machines, these hidden files tend to wreak havoc or render useless further use of that modified card in the user's CPAP machine. This is a problem with the Resmed S8 CPAP machine and perhaps the Resmed S9. It doesn't seem to be a problem withe the Resmed Airsense 10 or Resmed AirCurve 10 models. My personal dislike is that it is rather large and bulky. If I could do a do-over, I would opt for several smaller, interface-specific devices instead of one big all-in-one unit. I have four ports on my MBP, but if you have very few ports, and don't care about write protecting your SD cards, this might serve your needs quite well. ... show more

  • Rather finicky for a docking station
Style: USB-C Docking Station with 60W Power Del...
Overall, a decent collection of inputs. However, as a docking station, it can be difficult to manage. Often, after unplugging the laptop from this dock, it will not be recognized by the laptop when it is reconnected. When this occurs, one has to first disconnect the dock. Then disconnect each device (In my case, 2 monitors, network cable, and 3 usb devices) from the dock, plug the dock into the laptop, and then reconnect each device. If I wanted to reconnect each device manually each time I move away from my desk, I wouldn't have bought a docking station. For now, it seems to work fairly reliably if I make sure that the laptop is plugged into A/C before disconnecting the dock and also when reconnecting the dock. If I fail to plug in the power before reconnecting the dock, I can be sure to have to go through the entire ritual of unplugging and reconnecting each device. One other frustration is that I have an HDMI adaptor for the mini DPI port because my monitors don't support DPI. This causes the connected monitor to show up as a generic display instead of a PNP monitor. This, in turn, means that calibrating colors on 2 identical monitors is impossible. I suppose this can't actually be blamed on the docking station, since is is likely to be a factor of the HDMI adapter, but it still adds to the overall frustration of using this product. ... show more

  • Super Deal
Style: Compact USB-C Docking Station with PD Pa...
Ordered this for my new 2018 MacBook Pro and it worked GREAT. Would recommend for sure. In fact, ordered another for my home. (original was for office). No install per se; just plug-and-play. Worked with external monitor (HDMI), another VGA monitor, my USB printer, and a micro SD memory card -- without ANY fuss. IO Gear has always been quality so this just meets high expectations. ... show more

  • Not great
Style: Compact USB-C Docking Station with PD Pa...
I ordered this hoping I could reduce my dongle count for my Macbook. Currently I have a stand-alone ethernet/USB-B combo, an HDMI/USB-B/USB-C dongle, and a thunderbolt dongle. I didn't expect to be able to use this to replace ALL of them. It turns out it only could replace the HDMI/USB-B/USB-C dongle. There is no indication on the device or in the documentation/packing what the mac address is for the ethernet port. My Macbook won't recognize the ethernet port so I can't use my computer to ascertain that. No mac address, no access to my work network. Thunderbolt: it is clear in the product description that this won't support multiple monitors unless the device itself is open--which defeats the purpose of using Thunderbolt. But I can't get it to recognize the daisy chained second monitor at all. One of the reasons I persist with being a Mac user is ease of use and ease of deploying new hardware. On both counts this isn't great. But since it does replicate my HDMI/USB-B/USB-C dongle, I gave it two stars. ... show more

  • USB 3.0 Ports Not Working
Style: 11-Ports USB-C Dual Video Docking /Power...
Didn't last very long. I've had this for less than two weeks. At first I thought my external USB drive was bad. Took it to an older MacBook Pro and plugged it into the USB port and it worked without issue. Two other external drives that work on the older MB Pro also won't work when connected to this dock. I will have to return and find another. I have not returned this yet as I want to do more testing. Connecting it to a Surface Laptop with USB-C shows all ports to function correctly. It appears to be something with connecting to a MB Pro. Connected it to the MB Pro again, tried a Western Digital USB drive and it works fine. No Seagate external USB drives will work through it. Maybe it's a power thing?? ... show more

  • Good multi-purpose USB-C to whatever adapter
Style: Compact USB-C Docking Station with PD Pa...
I like this product as a catch-all for USB-C based laptops but I wouldn't recommend it as a replacement for a well-powered desk dock. Think of it as more of a mobile option. I was able to get a USB-C PD brick that was 60w to work with this but it that doesn't really provide enough power to a laptop (Surface Book 2) for charging. The dock will take 15w. I found that the order in which things are presented is important for this to work well. Meaning that video out may appear not to work unless you plug in the dock then plug in a monitor. It took some trial and error to learn this and I thought I had a defective dock at first. I did not reach out to tech support before discovering this on my own. Otherwise, it is nice to have everything in one package. Only other annoyance is the shortness of the connector cable which is part of the device. I got an extension to help with this but seems not to work for video if you plan to use monitors. It'd be nice if the cable was disconnectable for replacements and longer cords. You'll be hard pressed to find another adapter with this many options at this price point. ... show more
