  • Great two stage compressor !
Size: 230 Volt, Single Phase Style: Compressor
Awesome compressor for the price. Replaced an older 30 gallon non oil unit. Shipping was fast and was impressively packaged on the pallet. No damage anywhere on the unit. Freight company brought the unit into my garage for me which was nice. I was then able to walk the unit off the pallet with the help of one other guy, not too horrible for 400 pounds. I used some anti vibration pads under the 3 feet which ended up working well. After wiring the 220, filled the unit with the Ingersoll Rand lubricant (to get the 2 year warranty on the pump) then fired it up. Everything ran perfect right off the bat, belts were properly aligned and the air filled very quickly to 150 psi. My unit came with a shut off valve attached to the output side already which was nice, it is a 1/2 thread size so you will need a 1/2" reducer to most fittings used out there. Overall, I am using this unit to sandblast parts for cerakote prep. With the old unit, I would have to wait for my compressor to catch up and would take an average of 10 minutes to blast an AR15 upper and lower. With this unit, I was able to blast the same product in 1/3 the time and 1/2 the noise level. Very impressed with fit and finish. I'm sure by following mfg instructions, this unit will last years. ... show more

  • IR Marketing had best learn what they're doing
Size: 230 Volt, Single Phase Style: Compressor
Ok, so Ingersoll Rand means compressors. But there are so many retired guys like me buying home shop equipment they're selling on Amazon to compete with Campbell Hausfeld under it's many brand names. To me, IR meant "American made industrial quality." So I bought one. And I waited, and waited, and waited, and when the first delivery date arrived, they still hadn't shipped. So I called them, and after getting through the various computers in the way, I finally found a human who tole me, they can't get pumps "because of COVID." But here's reality: The pump is from India. The motor from Mexico. I'd not be at all surprised if CH made the tank (or whoever they might buy them from). It says in the book that IR won't guarantee the compressor unless you use their oil. Do they tell you that when you buy it on Amazon? No. So one gets to wait until the oil gets here. My shop is down without a compressor. I don't appreciate the delay. And then there's the pressure switch. The rating for this compressor is for continuous operation. The pressure switch is controlling 5hp, which means about 30A of starting current. That's a lot for the contacts they put in pressure switches. So deep in the skimpy manual they offer is a warning that the unit is not to start it more than 6 times an hour? Really? I'm running a sandblaster, painting a truck, etc. It uses a lot of air. If the pressure switch can't take that level of use, then PUT A CONTACTOR ON IT like the three phase version IR sells already has (at least there is one in the picture when they're selling it) and there won't be an issue. So far, it runs fine, but this compressor is rated to 175psi. It only pumps to 165psi. So I'm guessing that they were in so much of a hurry 'Assembling in the USA' that they didn't calibrate the switch. Can I do that without voiding the warranty? I emailed IR and asked them. It's been three weeks and I haven't received an answer. Looks to me like this is marketing is run by lawyers. Lawyers don't do customer service. It shows. ... show more

  • Leaky junk
Size: 230 Volt, Single Phase Style: Compressor
Just hooked up my compressor for the first time and it leaks! I then reached out to ingersol rand to get it repaired and they refuse to have someone look at it without me paying for it. I’d hope for more from a huge company such as they are. Don’t waste your money on this $1500 piece of leaky trash. Go with a more reputable company. Hope this helps! ... show more

  • Solid, quiet, good.
The shop really loves this air compressor. The high pressure (175psi) is great, but obviously means you need to regulate it in "normal" tools. Pros: - Relatively quiet - Very good SCFM - Motor is rated for continuous duty (If you plan to run any high-consumption tools, check the duty cycle!) - Comes bolted to a pallet, easy to move with a skid loader/forklift - Comes ready-to-run (except oil) - Wiring into the switch is easy with a #2 Phillips head screwdriver. Ours is hard-wired to the breaker panel, but making it corded would be just as easy. - A lovely shade of beige with black accent pieces. Cons: - Fitting containing the drain valve at the bottom wants to leak. I'd tighten the fitting until the hissing stopped, then an hour later it would be hissing again. Annoying, but eventually got it tight enough. - No anti-vibration pads for under the feet. C'mon, they're like $15 apiece for really nice ones. (You need three, I recommend the Mason 4C876 Isolator with a few washers to build height or the taller (but more rigid) Mason 4C961 Isolator ) - No oil included (and it requires specific synthetic oil that is not motor oil). Again, charge me the extra $5 or whatever. - The oil filler hole is also the oil level-check hole. While you're filling it, you can't see how full it is (and it's hard to see in there anyway since it's a quarter-sized hole at a downward angle. Since it takes less than a quart of oil, it seems inevitable that you're going to spill oil all down the front of it. And, yup, I did. - pictured air compressor is *NOT* the 2340L5 (which is what you're buying). It looks like: Ingersoll-Rand 2340L5 Type 30 Two-Stage Air Compressor ... show more

  • Can't Beat It!!!!!!!
Size: 230 Volt, Single Phase Style: Compressor
I absolutely love it. So much quieter then old non-oil and the two stage is my preference. I am handy around house so I removed the bottom plug and ran pipe with elbow and shut off valve so I can drain easily, ran a 220 circuit to my box, flipped the breaker and whala - for the price the unit is just awesome. ... show more
