I love this cone. I love the appearance and how comfy it was for my pup, I love how it has the removable plastic bit to prevent long snouted dogs from reacting their belly. I will say if your dog is very determined they will get it off. Make sure the collar you attach it to is snug and that it is as far up the neck and against the skull as possible and it shouldn't come off. One time I put it on loose because I was worried it was irritating her how snug the collar was, but then she ripped it over her head instantly. We purchased this donut for our 11 month old puppy to aide in recovery from her spay surgery. We’ve had a lot of previous experience with the typical “cone of shame,” and were looking for a more comfortable solution to limit mobility. This donut worked very well, keeping her from accessing her incision. It didn’t seem to bother her at all. She slept in it at night and used it as a pillow to rest her head. The detachable plastic piece can easily be zipped on or off the donut. It is sturdy and does help limit access. We found we didn’t need it during the day, when we could keep an eye on her. Our dog hated the standard plastic cone. He would refuse to move when we put one on him. This cone collar did not paralyze him when we put it on him. He was able to sleep comfortably using it as a pillow. We did not need to attach the clear plastic part. The collar itself was enough. Caution! This can not be blown up by mouth. Love this inflatable donut! It works very well, is MUCH more comfortable than the cone our vet gave us, and is so easy to put on and take off. It is nice to have the extra zippered guard, but found that we didn't need it though, as the donut worked well to avoid our dog scratching her ear. Because the donut attaches to her collar, she can't pull it off. It does look a little funny though because it looks like she is wearing a pool float around her neck! The material is like a velour so not easily punctured. I would highly recommend this product if you want your dog to be comfortable. ... show more

So. Put it on my dog after dealing with the plastic satellite dish for several days after surgery. Within an hour she chomped on it and popped it, then chewed it up. Total waste of money. Very cute and looked more comfortable but the dog destroyed it very quickly .Young golden retriever that chews,but should not have been able to get it off and puncture it that easily. ... show more

We got this after having our 16 month old German Shepherd spayed. The good: our dog doesn’t seem to mind it. It is obviously more comfortable for her than the cone the vet sent her home in. The plastic guard is a nice addition. We had a donut without the guard when our other dog was spayed and the donut alone didn’t prevent her from licking the incision. The bad: It is falling apart after 5 days and she is supposed to wear it for another 4-5 days. The inflatable insert got a hole after 5 days. Luckily I had another insert to use. I do have two rather wild dogs. It might have lasted longer in a one dog household. Even though I like the plastic guard it could use some improvements. It would be better if the two ends connected. The material is also not as sturdy as I would like. It has collapsed in the area where there is a seam which has allowed my dog to get to her stitches. I had to reinforcing it with tape and popsicle sticks. The attached picture shows what it looks like after 5 days, she is supposed to wear it for another 4 days or so. This inflatable donut was a good size and held up well. I knew my boy wouldn’t tolerate a cone very well, so this product and a surgery suit got him through his neuter recovery without complications. I liked the fact you could add the additional cone piece around the edge just in case I needed an extra level of protection. Luckily I didn’t need it! Honestly my dog loved wearing it. I was not expecting him to like it, just tolerate it. I swear he thought it was like his own personal 24/7 pillow, and he would walk over every time I picked it up. He seemed to enjoy resting his chin on the edge of it. Made our 7-10 recovery days much easier, especially because he didn’t mind wearing it. My other dog tried to chew on it or play with it a few times, and I don’t think it would hold up against a strong jaw and persistence. Luckily she’s a weany little poodle who can’t get a solid grip on things no matter how hard she tries lol! ... show more

dog measurement is sized for XL but this was very large it is cute and great solution but we have a rascal dog that popped it with in 2 days we removed the inflatable after he popped it and filled with bubble wrap and then he ripped the straps that attach through his collar now he can just take his paw and rip the whole thing off ... show more
