This thing is great! Easy to set up and works as advertised! Love that it's on a timer so I don't have to remember to turn on/off the lights. Motor is so quiet I had to take off the top to see if it was even on! Everything is high quality, the machine is beautiful and well made. The light doesn't slide up and down as easily as I'd like but now that I've had it a while I like that. It won't ever slip down or move if you bump it and I'm assuming it will last a long time. (Just pull it up right at/around the telescoping arm.) I was surprised how bright the light is, so I'm finding I'm using the lights in my kitchen less! Great instructions, quick guide is like a big greeting card on nice thick card stock. User manual is 17pgs of a nice coated paper and even has a spot for notes about your grow. I planted about a week and a half ago and I have 10 pods with plants! I did remove the stickers after they popped up because I plan to reuse them. Just my sage hasn't germinated yet but it says it can take 20days, so I'm hopeful they will sprout up soon! Comes with everything you need, only complaint is you only get 6 little stems for labels but there is a hole for one next to each pod, so I just used 1 per row, not a huge deal and once they get big I won't need them anyway! I purchased a 2nd one to grow some veggies since I'm keeping this one for just herbs! *updated to add pics a month later! I love using fresh herbs when cooking and my Lettuce is coming along nicely! ... show more

First I have to say that I have an aerogarden (7yrs old) and a Gardyn (5 yrs old). That being said My aero garden just started malfunctioning and I am replacing it with a hope garden. So far the size is great. It was very easy to set up (not heavy). I love that I can see the water level from the front of the unit. No rubber parts that can break down over time and creat a mess. And, this may sound trivial but they included a seed tweezer and it actually picks up the tiniest of seeds. Everything was included that I needed except for the seeds of course. I am impressed with this company I visited their website to check out their prices and everything you need for upkeep is very very reasonable. I am most likely going to buy their large floor unit. The maintenance looks much easier than the gardyn and it holds 60 plants instead of 30. It is also very reasonably priced. I am becoming a fan of this company. I will update after a month or so. ... show more

As an amateur gardener, I can finally add seed starting to my journal. Every year I buy seedlings from my local garden center and I'm ok with that,however I have to stick to what's offered. I wanted to try other varieties of plants. Seeds have lots of needs! I can't baby sit little baby plants as you should. I received my first Ahopegarden as a gift. I loved how easy it was to set up and the compact size is great for indoors. I was hesitant to open the box after all why would this be different? Pleasantly surprised my little seeds germinated super fast! I don't have to do much at all. The equipment has built-in features that allows for great performance. This is my second garden, as the first one is planted in herbs of various kinds -- I went on 6-weeks of travel, so I'm having to replant it, otherwise I would post some pictures -- as the plants were really large and full. As long as you watch the water level and keep the nutrient solutions replenished, then you will not have much problem growing plants that are applicable to a small garden like herbs, Lettuce, Peppers, Tomato's, etc.... just follow the instructions --- it's pretty easy. I'm moving forward with banana peppers, and we will see how they do -- I think they will probably grow pretty well. These gardens are economical and provide produce all year long, and they grow much faster than in soil. I've not had any trouble except a pump that got tangled up with roots (my own. fault) ... I got the clear one this time, so I can see the roots from the outside ... show more

I like the look and very quiet sound of this unit, as well as the fact that it comes with everything you need (except seeds, which makes sense). The instruction manual is very clear and easy to follow. I set up this unit in the afternoon, so when night came, the light cycle wasn't over yet, and the light was on at night. I discovered that the light button doesn't turn the light off once it is turned on, it only toggles the light cycle from 16 to 22 hours. To turn the light off for the night, I had to push the power button, which also turned the pump off. Then, I had to unplug the unit and plug it back in at the exact time that I wanted the light cycle to begin in order to reset it. It would be nice to have the ability to turn off the light with the use of the button and also a way to program ahead of time when the light cycle starts, so we don't have to be there to start it ourselves at exactly the right time. Also, my light panel stopped working after about two weeks. I contacted the company, and they sent me a new one since it was under warranty. It arrived within a few days, so my plants didn't suffer too much. ... show more

My idol 7 pod was amazing with germination in 3 days, but quit working in 2 seasons. Bought another idol 12 pods and it was ok, didn't think pods were going to germinate but they finally did. That's when I switched to this model. Happy with healthy plants but what I liked the most is that it was the least confusing. Hit power and 16 hours and BAM! Lights worked, fan worked and pump worked. No messing with the controls. Only reason I did not give 5 stars was because germination took over week to 10 days. ... show more

So easy to grow herbs! I decided to transplant my lettuce into their own pots because they were taking over but I’m loving this! It was easy to get started and I’m excited to try more herbs or even use this to start seeds for my garden next year!
