  • I love this tent tent! (1p and 2p)
Color: Blue Size: 2 Person
(Update 2019-09-29, for the 1p tent. 2p review is below the line...) Though I fully appreciated the 2p tent, as noted below, I found myself rolling around in it with too much space for one person. I had to wait almost a year for the 1p to become available, but oh am I glad I have it now! This tent is nearly PERFECT. It’s just exactly the right size, beautifully made, and I get happy every time I look at it. I had bought a different 1p tent, but it was just a tad short and narrow. This tent gives me just enough room to each side, and is long enough that I can fit my 65L backpack above my head and still have room to sleep. It’s beautifully appointed. The entry zipper works great and never jams, the rainfly is adequately ventilated if set up properly. It sets up in no time at all. The pockets at the corners are much appreciated. And it was very thoughtful to put a small zippered opening on the non entry side to get at those things like your boots you might want to stash under the rainfly on the non-entry side. Love, love, love it! If there just one thing I could ask for, it would be a zipper on the non-entry side of the rainfly so that it can be opened and rolled up like the entry side, and maybe a full entry on both sides. But even as-is it’s as perfect as I ever could expect. P.S. Check out the view I woke up to after a nice bug-free nap with the rain fly removed at the end of the trail my first day. :) ======= 2p review from earlier ========== I love this tent. I liked it from the first time I set it up but waited until I got it into the field to write this. First, it’s super easy to set up even with one person. Just lay out the footprint and the tent, extend the poles and put the ends into the eyelets at the corners of the footprint and tent. You don’t have to string the poles through anything because the tent easily clips to the poles! Just put the second end of the pole into the opposite corner eyelet, then fasten a clip or two and the tent starts to take shape. Work your way around, fastening the remainder of the clips and viola! Insta-tent. The rain-fly goes over the top and simply ties onto the poles from underneath. Seriously, this tent can be set up in under 5 minutes easily. The floor to ceiling mesh is great IMO. Sure, without the rain fly there’s no privacy, but you can lay in the tent and feel almost as if you’re outside but without the bugs. I especially appreciated this on my first trip as it was hot, there were no neighbors, and the bugs were atrocious. There was no chance of rain, so slept under the moon and awoke looking up at the trees swaying in the breeze above me. The interior of the tent is roomy. I’m just shy of 6’ and there was plenty of room at the head and foot. It would have been spacious even for two. The mesh pockets are super handy. The zippers work great and don’t get constantly stuck in covering flaps like every other tent I’ve seen. If you do have the rain fly on it’s really easy to unhook the flaps from the steaks and easily roll them up and hold them with the thoughtful tie-outs. The only caution is it all seems a bit delicate. That all mesh construction just feels like it could fail under abuse. But, with taking my time and taking caution to carefully stake things down I believe it’s going to last a long time. I did have a problem with one of the tie-outs on the rain fly tearing. Be sure to put the stakes in before attaching the tie-out so as to not over-stress the seam. Hyke and Byke customer service provided a warranty replacement within a few days. I think the tear was just a fluke as everything else is ship-shape. And the excellent customer service more than made up for this little issue. All that to say ... treat it as a light-weight piece of backpacking gear and not a military pup-tent and everything will be fine. (BTW, the weigh-out difference for this tent + sleeping pad vs. that of a hammock, straps, tarp, bug-net, underquilt, etc. is negligible. I know, I have weighed them both.) ... show more

  • Yosemite 2P - I am not a professional hiker, but a great tent in my opinion.
Color: Orange Size: 2 Person
I purchased this tent for my son and I to take to Philmont with his Boy Scout Troop. Twelve days, 67 miles through the mountains! The Hyke & Byke Yosemite 2P is really a great little tent. It slept the two of us nicely. It's light, packs nice, sets-up and tears down quickly, and is dry. The materials are quality right down to the stakes that have reflective loops so they are easily spotted at night or when "misplaced" during setup or teardown. The construction is top notch with taped seams to keep the moisture out. The only thing negative thing I have to say is about the system is the carrying bag. It likes to tear. I would like to see the bag made out of the footprint material. Be that as it may, with all the tents we have to choose from for camping, the H&B Yosemite is the tent of choice when my son goes on his camp-outs with troop. Lots of bang for the buck. It's a sweet little tent. ... show more

  • Great quality tent for motocamping. Wish it had better venting.
Color: Orange Size: 2 Person
Great tent for the money. It’s light and easy to assemble. Build quality is fantastic. I love that it comes with good quality steaks and ground sheet and that it lets you put up the rain fly before the tent body. That’s super helpful if you need to set it up in the rain. I use it for solo motorcycle camping and it is perfect. The 2P tent has enough room for one person and still plenty of room for important gear inside the tent and boots and other stuff fit under the vestibules. Wouldn’t recommend it for 2 people. If you are also over 6ft tall, may be getting close to the edge on length. I’m 5’9” and have plenty of room. Only negative: I couldn’t give it a 5 star because it doesn’t have any vents. I didn’t experience condensation so far but it has been pretty warm on all trips. Would like to see 2 pop-out vents on the rain fly like a lot of other tents. ... show more

  • Excellent and solid design, but only the rain fly provides shade
Color: Forest Green Size: 2 Person
This may be my favorite backpacking tent I've owned in 30 years of camping. It's easy to carry, far more spacious than "tunnel-type" ultralights, and will 100% keep the rain off. PROS: Weight and Size - not "ultralight" but very reasonable in size and weight. Easy to set up and pack down. No stakes required for tent. 2 required for rain fly (but works best with 4). Excellent build quality. Stakes are strong-built yet lightweight. Poles, zippers, and seams are of good quality. All-net tent provides perfect ventilation and view. (See also: CONS) Netting is solid but less durable than solid nylon, so zip and unzip the doors gently. Highly storm resistant with the fly on! No leaks even under heavy rain. Minimal buffeting under high winds. Spacious for one 6' guy. Two would fit without touching, barely, if they laid straight and didn't move around. CONS: No shade or shelter without the rain fly. Limited ventilation with the fly on. You can roll up the 4 vestibule flaps. Each one you roll up trades shade and rain protection for more ventilation. With all the vestibule flaps down (i.e. when it's raining), your head or back will almost certainly press against the fly when exiting the tent. ... show more
