  • Great tent for camping with Friends
Size: Contains PFAS Style: 6-person
We bought this tent to go camping with friends for 3 days. It was really easy to assemble. It took about 3 minutes. It is very well made. It is water proof. We did not have any leaks at all inside. I loved that I had plenty of room to stand up to get dressed and to have my queen size air mattress. It doesn't come with a top rain flap so you do have to purchase that separately. I didn't realize this till we got to the campground. It doesn't affect it being water proof it just allows you to keep the windows open if it's raining and rain won't get in. I would definitely purchase this tent again because of its ease of use and it's great construction. ... show more

  • Perfect for family
Size: Contains PFAS Style: 10-person Dark Room
We love this tent. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids, we all fit comfortably in it and have enough space to be able to walk around. The door is also easy for the kids to unzip which is a plus. The black out part of this is probably my favorite. It gives us a little peace of mind knowing that the kids can sleep however late they want and not be woken up by the light. It’s also very easy to assemble and to take apart as well. I’ve put it up and down by myself and it wasn’t difficult. It is heavy, but it’s nothing I can’t handle! ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY THE 8 OR 10 PERSON TENTS!!
Size: Contains PFAS Style: 8-person
UPDATE 6-person tent on the beach: I took the 6-person tent camping on the beach. Over-all it held up really well. I got it up in under two minutes. Then the wind kicked up. I would recommend that if the wind is over 10-15mph, don't go. I had to anchor all of the corners and use the tether lines with heavy duty tent stakes (I purchased separately) to keep it anchored to the ground. When trying to take it down, I recommend closing the door and leaving the windows half-way up just to release the inner air. I tried it first with the door and windows all of the way open and the tent kept blowing up like a balloon which kept causing the legs to reextend. It was nearly impossible to take down. I had to really struggle to try and get it to collapse. I never had this problem with my traditional tent where I could just remove the poles. With no wind, I would say it is perfect. UPDATE 6 - Person Tent: I replaced the 8-person tent I had to throw away with the 6-person version. OMG - SO MUCH EASIER!! I was able to get it up by myself in around 1 minute and take down - back in the bag within 2 minutes! I went through the whole process twice just to make sure! The tent fabric is thick and feels very durable. The floor is the thickest I have ever seen on a tent.... It's like a heavy duty tarp. So far I am really impressed! I changed my overall rating from 1 star for the 8-person to 5 stars for the 6-person! I will write another update after I take it to the beach in a couple of weeks and see how it holds up there. ORIGINAL PURCHASE 8 - Person tent: I have been camping for over 40 years. I selected this tent because it advertises as "instant-tent with 60-second easy assembly." So much better than the hassle of dealing with multiple poles... right? The 8-person tent has 6 legs; one in each corner and one on each side where there is no door. It was like trying to wrestle an angry octopus - seriously!! It requires a bare minimum of 2 people (and four people would be better) to set it up. You have to raise all of the poles at the same time or it will just keep collapsing in different directions. It took us over half an hour of struggling to get it up. I was exhausted and sweaty at the end. One of the poles bent the first time the tent was up (not sure how, it wasn't manhandled and no wind or anything) and it will no longer contract or expand. And the fabric was thin and saggy... as well as the floor. I don't think it would hold-up in the wind or rain at all. Taking it down was just as difficult as setting it up (or more so) because the poles kept collapsing every which way. You can't take them all down at the same time unless you have 6 people. So we had to figure out how to manually fold and realign the legs from the big tangled pile on the ground in order to get the tent to fold back up for transport. I bought this tent because it was supposed to be easy!! Maybe the 4 or 6-person tent that only has the 4 corner poles would be much easier to manage; but this 6-pole 8-person model is a nightmare! I threw it away. I could have tried to return it for the refund but with the bent pole that would no longer contract, I couldn't get it back in the box! UGH!!!!!! ... show more

  • Solid Tent for the Price
Size: Contains PFAS Style: 6-person
Overall, if you're looking for a sturdy, affordable tent that is easy to put up and has plenty of space I can strongly recommend this tent. In fact, I'll likely buy it again if it's available when I'm ready to replace the one I own. I've had this tent for about 2.5 years now and have been out in it several times in varying conditions and it's held up well. For background, I typically car camp in state parks so I'm not hauling this thing 4 miles into the back country. It's pretty heavy, and another reviewer mentions that it does take up a lot of space. I typically store it in the floor well in the back seat of my Civic. It could probably fit in my trunk, but it would be an awkward fit and waste other valuable packing space. I normally camp alone (except for my dog), or share a campsite with friends. I'm 6'2, 200 lbs and there's plenty of room for my gear and an army style cot. I can stand up inside the tent just fine. Could easily fit another person with a cot, or a queen size air mattress with no cots. You could probably do 3 people on sleeping pads but I wouldn't go more than that unless you're snuggling. More often than not it's dark out when I arrive on site, and I can easily put this tent up alone in the dark in 5-10 minutes depending on whether or not I'm putting a tarp down as a footprint or putting the rain fly on. The floor of the tent is made of a tarp like material, so a footprint isn't always necessary but more often than not I put one down. The main reasons I give 4 instead of 5 stars are the rain fly, zippers and the stakes. The stakes are trash, you're going to want some new ones. However, I think that's the case with most tents. The zippers are fairly flimsy. I've not had any fail on me yet, but I suspect when it's time to get a new tent the zippers are going to be the reason why. Just be slow and careful when using them. We're going into our third year with them, so they're not that terrible obviously. Although the tent is advertised as waterproof, I wouldn't trust that for a second and think it's pretty ridiculous that you have to buy the rain fly separately (although it is affordable on its own). My strong advice is cough up for the fly. I've camped in fairly cold weather (mid-20's) and the tent retains heat surprisingly well, esp with the fly on. Although it's well ventilated, it can get pretty stuffy in Oklahoma/Texas humid summers (I'm not sure you can blame Coleman for that). Quite a bit of the tent is screened, so if there's a breeze it's pretty nice when opened up. There are also vents at the top of the tent to help w/air flow and condensation. I have camped in some light rain and it held up just fine. I typically go camping spur of the moment, and I choose not to if it looks like there are going to be serious storms -- so I haven't really seen rain protection from the tent in a real downpour. Given the construction of the fly (it doesn't really cover the windows), I don't think I want to see how this thing performs in a moderate-severe storm (but who really wants to see how any tent performs in those conditions lol). FWIW, because of the conditions I choose to camp in I rarely ever string out the guylines on the rain fly. This is a perfectly fine tent for car camping, festivals, scouting, etc. It had been decades since I owned a tent, so I researched quite a bit and decided to go w/a reliable Coleman brand. Completely satisfied with my decision based on my needs and pocketbook. ... show more
