  • No adapter - resolved
Size: 42W for 48~54inch Tank
It's a very pretty light fixture, but I have no idea how well it works because there is no adapter in the box. I immediately contacted the seller and will edit this review when and if I can actually get power to the light fixture. Edit: The seller replied the same day and is shipping me an adapter with no additional cost or hassle. I will edit again when it arrives, hopefully to review the how well or poor the fixture operates. Edit: The adapter was delivered as promised, and the light was pleasantly surprising. It is much brighter than I expected. The timers, including the 24 hour simulation, work great. I am having no issues with excess heat from the power supply like some others have reported. This is a great fixture, and even better when considering the price tag as compared with similar aquarium lights with timers. I look forward to seeing my plants thrive. One year update: I had it set on the daylight simulation mode for a year. The bad thing about that is I stopped paying attention to its operation. I started to get horrible algae problems, then finally realized that the simulation mode is malfunctioning. The orange light from 6 am to 8 am is more often bright white light instead, and only sometimes the milder, less intensive orange. The bright white light stays on until 8 pm, at which point it turns blue until the end of the cycle. That's 14 hours of bright white light, which is 4 hours too many. I cannot adjust any of it in the simulation mode, so I'm now trying to decide if I want to put the light on a timer, but if I do so many of the nice features of the light, like the orange in the morning, the changing intensity during the day, and the blue at night, will be useless. My advice - Do not set it and forget it. If you use the simulation mode make sure you pay attention, or you're liable to get bad algae issues and stressed fish. ... show more

  • A capable light source for a low-tech, low-light 10-gallon tank!
Size: 18W for 18~24inch Tank
I've just finished setting up my first planted aquarium (10 gallon). I had been searching for a good light source and new I wanted one that had a timer so I didn't have to remember to turn on and shut off everyday. All the YouTube videos and online recommendations veered toward the Finnex Stingray or lights of equivalent price points. Being my first aquarium, I didn't want to get carried away and overspend on every last detail. I decided to roll the dice on this light knowing I could always return it, and I am very glad I did. Physically speaking, the light itself has a very low profile and sits roughly 1" above the rim of the tank (maybe less). It gives off very little heat, and the sliding brackets adjust to the tank smoothly and sits securely. The quality and build are very good, and, to be sure of the reliability, I ran this light at full intensity for a week, 24 hours a day, then another full week on the 24/7 timer without any issues. The light itself at maximum intensity is BRIGHT. The basic features include full spectrum light (with options to change the lighting to a single spectrum/color if so desired), timer features (including a 24/7 setting), and ability to adjust the intensity of the light, if so desired. The spectrum and intensity options are pretty straightforward; you can adjust these to your liking, however I feel it is the timers that require a little more detailed explanation. You have three chief options, simple on/off, 24/7, and personalized custom: The 24/7 feature basically sets the light loose to do its thing automatically. I don't recall the exact times, but roughly around 6-7AM, the light will turn on with a gentle intensity in the orange light spectrum to simulate dawn, then work its way through the day to full spectrum, then culminate in a blue/indigo spectrum in the evening around 8-9PM, until it shuts off for the night around 10-11PM. The one and only CON that I have is the intensity of light CANNOT be adjusted in this setting. When it reaches full daytime, the full spectrum is BRIGHT. If you have low-light plants, it may be too much. The personalized custom timer allows for 3 durations of light, 6H, 10H, and 12H. The plus side to these timers is that it DOES allow for adjustment for light intensity. The drawback is you lose the beauty of the changing light spectrums as this mode only goes between off a gentle ramp up to full spectrum and vice versa. It's kind of a bummer, but not a deal-breaker for me. Setting up the timers is a mild annoyance as the controls work by way of counting your button presses to select the options. For example, to cycle through the various light intensities, color spectrums, or time settings, you have to repeatedly press the buttons to cycle through everything. Not a big deal since you realistically only have to do it once to set up the timers. For those interested, I am currently growing Bacopa Caroliniana, Apongeton Ulvaceus, Amazon Sword, Windelov Java Fern, Cryptocoryn Lutea, Cryptocoryn Wendtii Green, Java Moss, and Susswassertang in this tank and everything is growing very well with this light. All in all, a great little light for those not wanting to pay 2-2.5x the price for a similar "big name" light source. ... show more

  • Attractive, easy and functional aquarium accessory
Size: 18W for 18~24inch Tank
Beautiful light allows me to see my hermit crabs in a natural setting. This light is sturdy and is easy to mount on the tank. The timer function was surprisingly configurable and might have been very complicated if it weren't for the 24h mode button. This convenient button sets up the light with a preset 4 stage (dawn, daylight, dusk, nighttime) light timer with an extended daylight time. I deducted one star for the difficult-to-understand manual. But if you choose the 24h mode as I did, the only truck is the one-time setting of the timer to the current time setting; one of 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00, or 22:00. ... show more

  • Very bright
Size: 14W for 12~18inch Tank
Excellent light for the price. I have a cube 5 gallon planted tank with beta and few other fish. Tank came with its own light but it was not a full spectrum plants were not doing well. After about a week of use my place are growing like crazy and best of all on algae in the tank. Love the fact that it comes with very easy to set up timer. • High quality, durable light
Size: 22W for 24~30inch Tank
Great light. I like the cross spectrum LEDs; they really make the tank pop. I use the automatic sun up/down program all the time. Only downside is you can't change the length of the day. The control module is a little funky and you need to refer to the manual to change settings, but liveable. I've used it on a 20 gal tank with conventional hood, and on an acrylic hoodless 36 gal tall tank; it adjusts for different widths. Have been using it for at least 2 years with no problems. ... show more
