    • Poorly finished surface, scratched up, try Elago instead
Do NOT get this wall plate. Get the “Elago” identical item. Why? Because they are not identical and here’s how: this product does not look finished, looks like a cheap piece of metal that was clumsily cut into a circle shape. The surface looks unfinished. Also, arrived majorly scratched up and wasn’t packed well. The Elago wall plate (also flat circle) was professionally done, had laser engraved printing, shiny fingerprint resistant surface, no scratches. The difference in the look and finish of these 2 products is difficult to overstate. Elago is a few dollars more but it is on a different level. I returned the humble abode and gave elago a try, never should have bought this one. ... show more

    • Great idea, poor execution
The disk looks great at first but you better got the gloves to install this thing and never touch it again. It stains up pretty easily and makes this thing look worse than what you had before. But that isn't even the bad part: The basic Nest backplate has two advantages that this disc simply forgets about: 1) There are raised edges on the original plate that let the installation sink in a little. With this disk that simply lays flat some of the mechaniscs are exposed and it looks aweful 2) Along similar lines, the original disk has some washers that raise the Nest away from uneven walls a little and makes it more level. With this disk and when screwing it in I constantly have issues attaching the Nest properly and it looses contact all the time or simply doesn't work right because the mechanics are not properly level. It's mind-boggling frustrating that makes this thing not operate properly anymore. So if you want your nest to look nicer but not work anymore, this product may be for you. But I need it to function as a thermostat and this disc makes this impossible. I reverted to the original plate and regret spending the money on this useless piece of metal ... show more

So much bad about this. - It has sharp rough edges that have not been de-burred or smoothed in any way. -It does not align with the original Nest thermostat so we were only able to install it using one screw, leaving it able to shift around on the wall - It gets fingerprints if you just look at it. To summarize-It looks cheap and ill fitting, but will serve it's purpose until the one I want is back in stock. I got what I paid for. ... show more

The metal background looks great but metal is more susceptible to temperature change and can effect the thermostat's readings.

    • The most basic wall plate you can get
It's a circular piece of metal with a few holes to attach to the wall behind the thermostat. Nothing fancy. A little finish on the edges or polishing would have been nice, but it's fine. I'll probably replace with something else more finished eventually.

    • It works, nice replacement for Nest if you lost the original hole cover.
For all intents and purposes, it covers the hole in my wall left by my old thermostat. The screw holes could have been placed in a 6 configuration rather than the 4 hole pattern as they don't exactly line up with my existing ones. If you have the ability to machine shop this, it can easily be made at home. If not, then this product works well for the price. No thrills, it kills the job. ... show more

    • Significantly Disappointed!!! Buyers be aware.
The unit was fine, but it is “NOT”compatible with Carrier variable stage/multi level HVAC systems. NOTE: This fact is not stipulated in the write up/description. I didn’t find out till after I paid $300.00 to install, only to find out it was not compatible with my HVAC system, and I had to pay to have it removed:-((( ... show more

    • A little wobbly, but an easy fix
Incredibly easy to install, you're getting exactly what is advertised. The only drawback is that it can be a bit wobbly. To fix this I used some thin styrofoam and placed it between the wall and the plate. It would be nice if they put a couple foam strips in the package to help alleviate that issue, but it's something that can be done simply enough by the buyer. ... show more
