It's hard to believe that it was used by anyone! The set up wasn't exactly easy for this 80 yr old grandma, even though the instructions were pretty clear, along with the videos on you tube. I was a bit skeptical about buying this refurbished printer/fax/scanner but after using it for several months, it works as well as new at a fraction of the price. It's a nice looking all-in-one machine, print quality good, no paper jam issues, easy to use, does everything I need for my home office.

The ink cartridges sent with the unit were very old. The retention clips had to be expanded in order to seat properly in the ink carriage. Installation of the software was a nightmare. Some of the software was installed by computer some was installed wirelessly by the printer, but it was going back and forth between printer and computer several time that was annoying. It took more than 45 minutes to complete the process. Hp should have preinstalled most of the printer software. It prints OK. I hate the requirement that you have to set up a HP account to get ink supplies. I ordered extra ink cartridges when I bought the printer, the printer is not used frequently so expect not to need ink supplies for some time. So I cancelled my HP account. Next I received ink cartridges that were order by the machine, after I cancelled the account. I called HP and offered to pay for the ink supplies but they said they could not accept payment over the phone. NOW I see a message on the display panel saying A PROBLEM HAS OCCURED WITH YOUR HP ACCOUNT AND YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO PRINT UNTIL THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. Grrrrrrrr. There is no help from HP. Save your money and buy a different brand. Non-existent product support. Too much control of the printer is done by HP programing. Frustrating. Customer service said to use non hp instant ink cartridges, bought non oem cartridges printer won't print either. False advertising. Failure to disclose short comings of internet printer. Printer came damaged, returned for refund & purchased same printer elsewhere. This printer is slow, but the print quality is very good. When I’m going to print I turn it on so the ole lady can warm up. After that, she’s good to go. I much prefer Hp over any other printers.

    • Setup K cartridge clip damaged. Would not accept any but setup K cartridge until setup done

There are setup ink cartridges that come with this printer. Until setup is complete, only these cartridges can be used. Well, the clip on the setup K cartridge was damaged so that it would not clip in place. Any other HP 910 K ink cartridge was not accepted (I tried two). I managed after many tries to get it to stay in place long enough to complete the setup. This is a malicious tactic on HP's part and should not be allowed. HP's purpose in doing this is to push HP+ and ink subscription on you with the marketing strategy of so-called "free ink" for so many months. Once HP's ink subscription offer is accepted, the firmware is modified permanently and irrevocably so that only HP ink can be used. After doing the setup with HP Smart, the driver software must be installed to get the scan to work. There are a couple of gotcha's in the installation. First, it hangs with a blank screen. One must choose to install the basic drivers only on the previous page. This is a link in the text. Then one is asked what the printer password is. Choose Cancel. And one is asked all over again if one wants the ink subscription. I always answer "no", "skip", "decline", or "do not enable" to all the questions. ... show more
