  • For the price? Excellent.
Color: Black Style: Canon G3270 Printer (BK) - Backlit LCD S...
It's not the highest quality color print, and it won't turn a paper around for you to auto-print double sided, but it does scan, it has both wireless (using WiFi/app) and wire connections (have to get your own cable to print via wire connections though), works on desktop and for mobile devices, easy enough to set up, but most of all it's extremely affordable. The print quality is decent if you have the settings a certain way. (Even when using plain printer paper, set the Media Type to Matte Photo Paper for better color. This will also use up more ink though, so if you're fine with a faded print for longer lasting ink, such as just for documents, the Media Type Plain Paper is the better choice. Print speed is also a bit slower if you go for the better color density option, which makes sense.) Print speed is fairly normal, not fast, but not slow as molasses either. The ink is easy to refill and ink bottles are a fraction the price of what you'd pay for cartridge refills. As a teacher who only has regular access to black and white printers at school, when I want an occasional page in color to post in the classroom and don't want to spend too much on the print since it's out of pocket, this does the trick nicely. ... show more

  • Much easier to setup using the Windows app!
Color: Black Style: Canon G3270 Printer (BK) - Backlit LCD S...
Since 1995 I've used many printers starting off with a Canon bubble jet. Since then I've used Brother, Canon, Lexmark and Epson. Admittedly for print quality Epson's sub lim dye is the best printing you're going to get. Their ink also lasts longer in regards to photo-life. As far as cost and availability of their ink at stores though is another question. Cost-wise they're all pretty much on par with each other for all brands these days. You can improve the print quality on Canon printers but you'll have to fool with the settings to get there which I don't mind doing. You'll also use a little more ink but that's the cost of quality. The Windows App made setting this printer very easy and kudo's to Microsoft and Canon for that. This is my first tank printer which I'm looking forward to using but you have to keep in mind that if you don't use the printer at least some what regularly, the ink to the printhead WILL dry out if you leave it idle for too long. Keep that in mind for EVERY printer unless you're using a laser jet. After adding the ink and updating the software I printed out my test page, simply scanned it and the printer itself set the print alignment to it's best settings. Super easy! Print outs aren't the fastest which is fine I'm not looking for speed to be honest. Print quality is very good on standard settings but I'll probably set it for best print quality later. Canon printers inherently have a sequence of sounds that hasn't changed in 28 years lol. Same for most other brands too. Not annoying but not silent either so don't expect that. It's no louder than the other brands. Canon has always done good black and white printing well before the other printer brands and their color quality has improved significantly as well. Having tanked ink versus having to buy cartridges is VERY cost effective! You essentially pay double for the printer but save long-term in the amount of printing (the REAL cost). We used to have a Cartridge World store that would sell refurbed ink tanks that worked 100% of the time but that location closed recently and sadly. If you have one near you I highly recommend them! I had recently bought an Epson XP4200 AOI printer but finding the cartridges took some time and forget locating them in your local store unless you get lucky, then came the cost. The XL cartridges range $30-$50 which is about what I paid for the printer new. Even off brand ones aren't that cheap. Having a tankless printer saves me time in finding ink and saves me a ton of money over having to buy overly expensive cartridges. Many of the 3rd party ones don't always work either so it's iffy in regards to cost savings. If at some point I have to do the printhead bath to clean them I don't mind, it's well worth it for not having to buy outrageously expensive cartridges. I'm done with them! I definitely recommend this printer even if you're only doing average home use. Just remember to use it every week even if just once. ... show more

  • Decent color printer, connectivity issues
Color: Black Style: Canon G3270 Printer (BK) - Backlit LCD S...
I was going to buy a laser printer but I wanted color printing and went back and forth on which printer to get since inkjets are notoriously bad at eating ink. I decided to take a chance on this one and it does the job. TLDR: it takes a long time to run out of ink, but actually getting it to print is a little bit of a nuisance. Print quality: fair/good. It will pick up most details, I wouldn't use this to print nice quality photos though. Ink longevity: Excellent! I've had this for 4 months and printed maybe 200+ pages and the ink is still sitting very close to the "full" mark. Speed of printing: fair/good. It's not slow, but it's not fast either. Ease of setup/connectivity: Poor. Setup was fairly easy the first time, they have a QR code that walks you through the setup process. After that though, good luck. I've gotten it to print everything I've needed it to, but each job takes at least 10 minutes of fiddling with it. You have to turn it on, then your computer on, then do some magic by telling it to print and canceling the print jobs until it finally determines that the printer is online and connected. Thankfully I have time and don't have to print every day. If you're doing some serious printing throughout your day, maybe invest in something better. Jams: only encountered one jam when I loaded the tray improperly(my fault), it was easy to fix though. Size: large. While I wouldn't call this thing HUGE, it's definitely not compact. Get ready for it to take up a good chunk of your desk corner, and for it to be on the heavier side. I have the space so it doesn't bother me, but if you're looking for something with a tiny footprint in a small office, this isn't it. Overall price-for-quality: reasonable. It's bulky, it's got weird connection issues, and it doesn't have a lot of fancy features, but it's got solid print quality and the real win here is what you won't have to pay for later in ink. I've seen tiny printers for less than $100 that cost $50 in ink refills every 100 pages. The ink it comes with will have you printing for a long while before you need to fill it back up, that was worth it for me. ... show more
