  • Overly simplistic. Not for 40+
This book is for Instagram millennials trying to get married and not for people over 40 or who have any complexity in their lives. I put it down halfway through, admittedly, but in the first half I didn’t notice any science to speak of. I guess if you happen to fit neatly into one of the buckets here, and are a young, lucky person who has your pick of mates already, you might find this book useful. ... show more

  • In terms of your life's value, the book is worth of reading
I'm 61 years old and have read many other books on a relationship. I found the book still helpful even though I'm not any of the types she mentioned. I'm familiar with the 37% rule and appreciated that she covers it in her book. It's an awakening call to those seniors who are still hoping "I'll know when I meet him/her". It's true her questionnaires are not very appropriate for seniors who have been through much more complexities in life. They can still give some insights about the little child who has always been living inside you. Though the author might not have PHD degree to claim an academic scientist, the fact she has worked with Dan Ariely (the author of "Predictability Irrational", another book I have read for clues to a successful relationship) earns her some credentials in behavior studies. Highly recommend it. Why am I still giving it One star? because those skeptical viewers will see my comment. In summery, how much do you value your life in terms of money and what's the percentage of book cost to it? ... show more

  • Vapid
Vapid of real info - reads more like a fluff article of already written editorials on Medium or BuzzFeed. Would be better if real dating and childhood development psychology were used to discuss dating patterns and actionable habits to reform behaviors and belief systems.

  • Yikes.
I found this book to lack any new information. 1. One part that stood out as painfully obvious (and a little naggy) was stating how things like hotness & money aren’t important. (Which obviously is based on the assumption that someone isn’t looking for those things, no shame if you are, to each their own.) 2. Way too many eh personal stories. (Side note not sure the people she dated that she trash-talked appreciated being used as “professional” content.) 3. Came off as pretty judgmental. 4. Didn’t really teach anything new. Frankly I could have written a more interesting book and I’m not an expert. ... show more

  • A must read whether you're single and searching or coupled up and content
I pre-ordered this book after reading Logan’s story in the Modern Love column of the NY Times where I quickly fell for her friendly, conversational tone and incisive wit. How to Not Die Alone offers her signature voice and so much more. It’s an easy-to-read modern take on romance and relationships that I didn’t know I was waiting for. Where other love and relationship books are full of tired platitudes, Logan offers actionable steps to find love and improve your romantic relationships. Reading her words is like talking to a trusted friend—loving, a little bit bossy, and always looking out for your best interests. Better yet, the ideas in the book are based on research and have been proven out by her experience as a relationship coach. I’ve been in a relationship for a while and was starting to feel like we were getting complacent. Logan’s advice has been eye opening for me and my partner. For us, the Relationship Contract alone was worth the price of entry. It’s an easy to use tool for understanding your own emotional needs and setting the foundation for your partner to fulfill them. It’s a must read for anyone looking to improve their relationship. I highly recommend ordering copies for the people you love. After reading Hot to Not Die Alone, I’m going to be the one recommending a book to my therapist for change! ... show more

  • Not a book for older people.....
This book really focuses on the younger population. The Millennials are the one's who this book is directed toward. I guess I should have realized that probably by the age of the author. I am about to turn 60 and have been a widow now for 18 years and this dating thing is a disaster for me. I got a few tips from this book and it's not geared toward people without for example children and busy work schedules. Those are a lot of the examples not someone single. I gave it a 3 because I did get some information from it. ... show more

  • So many books all in one, simple, doable book
This has so many helpful topics for relationships. From attachment theory (and tendencies and how to recognize your own and partner's), relationships tendencies (I'm a maximizer!!), and differences between Hitchers and Ditchers and how to recognize and make conscious decisions (decide vs slide). I appreciate the practical information from online dating and meeting people (widen your filters), what *really* matters in a partner, and how to create meaningful dates rather than interviews (or interrogations!!). There is a section to help decide to end or mend the relationship (and how for each!), how to create deep, meaningful, conscious relationships (complete with break up, relationship, and marriage contracts created intentionally). I love the combination of exercises, scientific studies, and practical advice. I would highly recommend this to everyone! Even my parents (married 40+ years) can benefit from weekly check ins and intentional check ins. The author's sense of humor made me laugh out loud several times! Highly appreciated and recommended! Read it, apply it, and create the relationship you love! ... show more

  • Invest in yourself
Finding a partner is one of the most important things someone can do, but I had never invested any time into learning how I could do it better! This book was a great find. It takes a scientific approach to dating, but with a fun and engaging voice.
