  • Well received gift
Purchased this as a gift for a 5 year old who loves it. Assembly was a little complicated, but the letters on the pieces made it easier. Some cars don't work, and open wheel ones get their axles destroyed, but if the cars are labeled as best for track or made for tracks work best.

  • Spectacular
Set this one up and the other adults hanging around will say, "No. It's not going to do *that*, is it?" Yes, it is. Your car becomes a rocket. Very cool. Noisy, though.

  • Tons of fun but guard your face, just in case...
This was probably my favorite Hot Wheels acquisition to date. Make sure to remember the D batteries but the kids had fun for hours just testing which cars could complete the circuit the most times. My 6yr old assembled it mostly himself. Some cons, some of the higher track loops were having difficulty staying together at the connectors after awhile. Also, be aware that not all cars are compatible with the track for various reasons and when the cars eventually crash and fly off.... best to duck and cover haha. We found the higher density, low profile, compact metal cars had the highest complete circuits. Overall I would recommend albeit at a slightly lower price. ... show more

  • Buyer beware…? Buyer Be Aware!
The media could not be loaded. The Hot Wheels Sky Crash Tower is a dramatic, fun, noisy track which is probably not for pre-schoolers. It moves fast and cars go flying all over the room. Since I use it on a tabletop, I wear protective goggles while playing with it. I’m kidding (they’re just my regular glasses), but I considered it. I read other reviews prior to assembly, and modified my expectations. The cars that work consistently are lighter-weight, flat racing-style cars, with a plastic body and metal platform. Finding what does and doesn’t work is part of the fun. I used my kitchen scale to compare weights to within 1 gram. It seems around 30 grams (1.1 ounce) is good, but heavier is okay if the car’s weight is distributed well. You want a lightweight top (transparent is great) and a heavier metal chassis. I looked for cars with the yellow BEST FOR TRACK or TRACK STARS square at the right under the Hot Wheels®️ logo. They’re easy to find. Avoid protruding wheels. Go NASCAR, not Indy-car. Out of my small collection (about 75, mostly for display only), I found over a dozen cars that work sometimes and six current 2023 models that work consistently. Since I have yet to run more than four cars at once without a pair smashing and taking each other out (the whole point!), I don’t find that to be a big problem. I have some duplicates on hand in alternate colors to keep feeding them in. Clearly, I would NOT be running my collectibles through this thing, but after hours of play all my axles are still straight. My Top 3: HI-TECH MISSILE included with my track; also 2023 Track Builder 5 Pack 30g MACH IT GO 2023 HW Track Champs series 4/5 [Best For Track] 30g ELECTRACK 2022 X-Raycers series 2/5 also 2023 Action [Track Stars] 5 Pack 34g Also good: ROLLIN’ SOLO 2023 HW Track Champs series 5/5 [Best For Track] [New For 2023] 28g — very lightweight! RALLY SPECIALE 2023 HW Track Champs series 1/5 [Best For Track] [New For 2023] 36g — heavier than most ROADSTER BITE 2023 HW Roadsters series 1/10 [Track Stars] 36g Honorable Mention: LIGHTNIN’ BUG 2023 HW Rescue series 1/10 [Best For Track] — sometimes 34g NERVE HAMMER 2023 Track Builder 5 Pack 34g CLIP ROD 2023 Experimotors series 5/5 [Best For Track] 30g A few more things: Where the stickers stick, they stay. Be VERY careful when applying them. I accidentally put an arrow sticker on upside down and it tore to shreds when I tried to fix it. Fortunately, Mattel customer service was OUTSTANDING and they sent me a new set of stickers for free, with just a phone call. Kudos to them!! Sometimes cars which don’t work well going forwards work just fine going backwards. Try them both ways. Pretend the drivers are flooring it in reverse. It’s a toy, there are no laws! I can’t recommend highly enough an alternative power supply. The S-YUWEN 6V LR20 D Cell Battery Eliminator is $15.21 on Amazon. It works fine, no soldering necessary. The only modification I had to make was to file a small 1/8” slot in the battery cover, to pass the wire through. I have loads of fun making slow motion videos with this track, as the crashes are often spectacular. Three or four cars running simultaneously, and sooner or later BLAMMO!!! Don’t let the poor reviews put you off. I really enjoy the Hot Wheels Sky Crash Tower, and I’m glad that I bought it. The 2024 model cars are coming out, and I look forward to finding new cars to crash!! ... show more

  • THEY LOVED IT
I bought this for my grandson for Christmas. My daughter called me to tell me that the boys LOVED it ( I gave it to one but they can BOTH play with it.) She used a word to describe it that I can't say here ( it starts with "bad" but it's NOT BAD) Win win!!! Great gift for kids.

  • Update to Incorrect part that is not available to replace/purchase on Mattel site
I bought this as a Christmas gift but am past the 30 day mark to return. We put it together after Christmas and discovered that there was a missing part. I’m happy to say that Mattel is sending a replacement!

  • Entertaining toy
My 4 year old plays with this daily. Once set up with adult help, he is able to play with it alone. We leave it set up and it doesn't take up too much room.

  • Good track. Not all Hotwheels work
Bought this for my grandsons 4th birthday. I wanted something where the cars run continually, not just go down a hill & stop. This one did the trick. My grandson screamed with excitement. It does come with one car that works perfectly with the track. But I only gave it 3 stars, because not all Hot Wheels work on the track. He has over 100 Hot Wheel car's. Out of all those cars he had, only 2 other cars worked (sort of) I Googled to see which cars worked and which didn't. There was no information anywhere about that. The only thing Hot Wheels said was to buy a car and try it. Come on Hot Wheels. Get your stuff together and find out what car works and what doesn't. That should be your #1 priority. I'm not going to go out and spend $$ on a car or a pack of cars and find out it doesn't work. ... show more
