Placed a warm Pyrex 9x13 pan on plate warmer, on LOW. IT EXPLODED in pieces. Glass flew everywhere and lasagna melted all down into burner plate. Ruined. Went in the garage. Lucky no one was hurt!!!!

Works well. It heats up quickly. It does have a humming sound as it heats up. The problem I had was the power in my apartment would go out each time I used it. That is the only reason I to return it.

    • works well, but control is a little confusing.
I have to admit that I often use things in ways that were not intended. This is one of those. I bought it because I did not want to scratch up my new stove top, because I want it to look like new when I sell my house in a few months. When I first got this hot plate, I hated it, because I couldn't tell when it was shut off. After it is shut off. the cooling fan keeps running until the unit cools down. That completely makes sense, but because the on/off control is a bit hard to understand, it seems like it is still turned on when it is just the cooling fan running. It at first also seemed to not heat up very quickly. I'm still not sure about that, but I boiled some eggs, and it seemed to get the water up to a boil in a reasonable amount of time. It is definitely not as fast as my new stove, but I believe it is pretty fast and good for a hot plate. ... show more
