The thermostat was suppose to be an upgrade from my currently installed thermostat and everything was going great, all the way up until I couldn't get the unit to receive power from the wall like my previous unit. I scoured all over the Internet trying to find a solution, thinking I might have shorted a wire and blew a fuse but my old unit still powered on when connected. Turns out this unit always requires batteries to operate. Nice to know that whatever potential savings this unit provides are cut into by the constant need for batteries. Fairly unhappy to find this out in such a long and drawn out way when it could have just been stated somewhere on the store page but the only mention is a low battery warning, nothing about it being battery powered. I finally found it on page 12 of the manual. "C does not power the thermostat display or operations. Batteries are always required." C, aka common, is usually a blue wire that lets the unit receive power from the wires and will have batteries as a backup. ... show more

You can hear the clicking on and off for the fan n cooling but it won’t click on for the heat. Was on the phone with Honeywell and all they told me was to go buy a voltage meter to confirm it’s the unit. I was operating the thermostat off the wall in my hands. They do not comprehend.
