  • Such a waste of money.
I was so excited to receive this item. When we finished setting up our cat tried it out and the scooper fell right off and did not scoop. So disappointed don’t waste your money.

  • Don’t buy
Do not spend the money on this. The cats urine will get into the motor and stops working!

  • Only works for small cats
This isn’t my first automatic litter box, but it is the worst one I’ve used to date. While it does technically work, it isn’t a set-it-and-forget-it experience. The instructions state that this machine is only for certain types of cat litter, not to be used if your cat has soft stool (meaning that you’ll have to manually clean it every time your cat is sick or on medication that might cause this), only for cats up to 16.5 pounds, and only for one or two cat households. The main issues that I have with this machine are the low-quality materials, poor garbage tray location, small usable area, large footprint, and exceptionally slow speed. Unboxing this machine is fairly painless, it just involves ensuring the pieces are where they need to be (i.e. the garbage cover fell off of mine in shipping), then removing the pins and testing before adding the cover. When you first plug it in it will run once, after this you can add the bentonite litter and attach the cover. Filling this with litter is a huge pain because the fill lines are very difficult to see while pouring. It ends up being about a one-inch layer of litter which, unfortunately, won’t be deep enough for many cats to feel comfortable. Additionally, the entire area for cats to use is only about 12 inches. I have a healthy and thin 10-pound cat who has used other many different styles of litter boxes in the past without issue, but he hates this thing. He can barely turn around in it and the cover sits so low that he has to essentially be crouching the whole time. This thing seems to be designed for kittens. One of my bigger complaints about this machine is the poor-quality of the materials. I was honestly surprised that this thing arrived without cracking. The plastic is thin and feels cheap. For the current price of around $500, I expected better. The base isn’t much of an issue, but the lid and the garbage tray are both thin and I worry about them cracking during install or removal, which is a regular requirement when adding more litter to the base or when cleaning the discharge tray. Cleaning this litter box is a pain. There’s no way around it. The garbage tray is located on the back of the machine and unless you have your litter box located in the middle of a room, typically, they’re pushed up against the wall. This requires you to pull the entire machine out from the wall to remove the tray. Additionally, the tray is hard to remove. It seems almost like a flaw because no matter what angle I attempt to remove it from, it catches on one side or the other and you have to yank it out with either a ton of strength or wiggle it slowly, which is difficult to do when you’re trying to keep it close enough to a wall for the cord to reach the outlet. Another problem with the location of the discharge tray is that because it’s located on the back of the box, there is a large area on the interior of the box that is unusable for the cat, but entirely easy to get litter tossed onto. This means that I have to spend extra time removing the litter from this area whenever I take the lid off. One small positive about this box, however, is that many of the pieces are removable for cleaning. My final complaint is that the garbage tray cover is lifted by the sifter, it makes a ridiculously loud snapping noise every single time. This is caused by the sifter rubbing against the cover as it lifts it and one of the plastic edges of the sifter getting caught and popping up and over the sifter. This is both annoying for me, and terrifying for my cat. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this litter box. It’s difficult to use, overpriced, and only works for small cats. There are far superior options available at similar or only slightly higher prices. ... show more

  • Small Automatic Litter Pan Option. Best When Used With Non-Clumping Litter In Single Cat Household
The media could not be loaded. I considered getting an automatic litter pan. My kittens' breeder has several Litter Robots throughout her house and loves it. I considered one of those and also a similar "cement mixer" style auto litter pan by Petkit. Ultimately, I decided not to get the "cement mixer" style litter pan because they were literally the size of a large home appliance -- as big as a stove or dishwasher. I don't have that kind of space to dedicate to cat poop 💩 Instead, I chose this automatic litter pan solely for its size. It's not much bigger than my enclosed pod/igloo manual litter pans. Some reviewers complained about the small size. But I think it's great. Litter pans are not one size fits all. If you have a large house and large cats, get the cement mixer-style pan. I have small cats and small space, and I appreciate having the option of a smaller automatic litter pan for them. Here are my observations after two months of use. 1. This Honey Care automatic litter pan is almost an exact copy of the ChillX AutoEgg. The only difference I can see is that this one does not have the touchscreen LCD display that shows you a history of your cat's weights. The good thing is there are a lot of videos and review out there on the ChillX that would apply here. 2. This arrived nicely packaged and secure. The issues ChillX had with the auto rake being jostled out of place during shipping does not exist with the HoneyCare unit which uses two large plastic pins to hold the auto rake in place during transit. The unit is light and I was able to lift it out of the box myself (5'2" female). It comes mostly assembled. The auto rake is held in place by the two black pins. You just have to pull them out. Use force. I peeled off the sticker that tells you to pull out the pins. Came off easy without residue. At this point, I recommend plugging it in to see if it works. The rake will drag across the pan and the trap door where clumps are supposed to go will open. Then read the manual and learn how to unassemble and reassemble the unit for cleaning before adding the litter. This is important because you do not want to be trying to figure this out when the unit is soiled. Once you are familiar with all the parts, pour litter to the fill line. And put on the dome. I think the dome must be installed for the auto sensors to work properly. 3. Clumping litter is recommended but actually, non-clumping litter worked best. I prefer non-clumping and use Pretty litter. When I tried the recommended clumping clay litter, the clumps always got stuck on the rake. If I didn't clean off the rake every day, the rake became encrusted and operated like a snow plow. It would push everything, even clean litter into the waste drawer. There are no sensors telling the rake that the waste drawer is full, so it just kept pushing all the litter out until it overflowed. That's why I prefer non-clumping litter. It just passes through the rake. No overflow even when I went on vacation for 4 days! 4. This automatic litter pan is a "RAKE" style litter pan. There is an automatic rake that moves across the pan and pushes the clumps into a bin at the end. Do not confuse with the "cement mixer" style which is completely different. The tines on the rake miss little bits of poo. I still need to scoop once a week to keep the box clean. I change out the pretty litter and clean the unit about once a month. 5. Waste drawer is located in the back of the unit. I have to move the unit away from the wall to open the drawer in the back. It also makes it difficult to keep an eye on it. Like I mentioned, the unit is not able to sense when the drawer is full so it will keep dumping and overflow the drawer. Having easier access to the drawer would make monitoring it so much easier. 6. Size. Externally it measures 30" x 18" x 18". But inside the actual pan where the litter and cat goes is 13" x 11" x 3". Rated for cats under 16 lbs. but in my opinion, probably best for kittens and small cats smaller than 10 lbs. It is also rated for a max of 2 cats. I have three cats and this box could not keep up. I recommend for 1 cat. 7. Noise level, it's very quiet. I have the pod right next to my WFH office set up and as you can see in my dry run video, it really doesn't make much noise 8. Comes with: power adapter to plug into an outlet. Generously sized slotted scoop, paintbrush for brushing and cleaning crevices, roll of plastic liners for the clump/waste bin. However there is no onboard storage area for the scoop or brush. 9. Not for cats with soft-serve poop or diarrhea, high pee-ers, sprayers, or abnormal potty behavior. Like all automatic pans, works better (cleaner for you) with cats who habitually bury/cover their waste. 10. The rake, pan, slotted litter catcher, waste bin door, and waste bin can all be removed for cleaning. The rest can be wiped clean. If you've made it this far, congratulations. I hope you found this review helpful as you search for the perfect litter pan for you, your fur babies, and your home. I started with one cat and ended up with three cats while using this box. I had to convert to a cement mixer-style automatic litter box (PetKit Pura Max). This one is really best suited for 1 cat household because you cannot say when your cats will have a pissing/pooping match over a litter box. And if they all decided to use this egg, it cannot keep up. Lastly, I still keep one regular box because my older cat is old school and refuses automatic boxes. ... show more
