This is my 3rd massager by Home Medics over the years and they've gotten me thru some tough times with muscle tightness. I wore out the previous two. This one does fine though the shiatsu balls don't offer as good upper back massage as previous ones. They don't seem to be large enough and don't really come into good contact with upper back to provide good massage. The lower back shiatsu does a very good job. The neck massage feature does fine - I do find that I need to sit on 1 or 2 throw pillows to raise my body in order to get the massager to reach area between shoulder blades. ... show more

I love this massage cushion. I have had back issues for 40 years. I always dreamt of buying a fancy massage chair to ease the pain. Could never afford it. I tried a massage cushion (different brand) at my uncle's house and had to get one. I shopped and read reviews to settle on the HoMedics Shiatsu Elite II. I have had it for a month and use it almost every day. I often wake up with a stiff back, so I head downstairs to use the cushion and it loosens me up. I really wish I had found it years ago. I feel like I have already gotten my money's worth in just the first month. My wife uses it too. Visitors use it and have mixed feelings. Some love it, others think it is "too hard", and one friend bought their own. I am 6 feet tall, so the neck rollers hit me on top of the shoulders, but that is where I want them. I can adjust them down to work my upper back. When you use the upper and lower rollers at the same time, you may need to adjust your body to get the correct pressure for each. Towards the end of the programmed massages, the lower pad can get very hot. I will definitely buy another one if this one ever stops working. ... show more

So, maybe this only works for tall people? At 5'8", the neck/shoulder feature of this massager was useless - it only managed to get my neck and lower skull, and wasn't comfortable at all. The back portion was good, but the range was terrible - it only moves maybe a few inches up and down, and doesn't come anywhere close to covering your entire back. Unfortunate, because it really was pretty comfortable. It does a nice job getting your lower back but doesn't come close to getting near your shoulder blades. The heat was good as long as the massager was moving. If you have it on "spot" mode it got entirely too hot and felt as thought it was going to burn you. I returned mine and am going to try to find another option with more or a range to cover your entire back. ... show more

Like many others I try these massagers when see one in stores. This one works great so I found one for a good price and I use it frequently. Way better than spending thousands for a bulky chairs. Seems of good quality and construction. Would purchase again.

I tried the massager that my friend had, it was amazing. So I purchased the same model. The packaging is so damaged. The massager has a loud banging and pounding sound when powered on. I was so disappointed.

This is the 4th one of these things I've had now. Once you've had one, you can't live with it. But, they just don't last like the original did. I think the build quality is the same, but it's the substandard materials they are using now. I don't use mine much at all, but I think the materials just deteriorate over time, regardless of your level of usage. I guess, use it or lose it. Same thing happens with my alarm clock. I wanted the same thing I had, but they don't have it anymore. I really didn't want the neck thing, but, wow, I'm glad I did, it's awesome. That part is not heated. As far as the differences, I don't think this one gets as hot as my last one, but it's hot enough. I don't think the massage balls dig as deep as the last one, but it does the job. The balls don't go as far up the back as my last one, which is unfortunate; but I can live with it. The strap to attach it to a chair is thinner and not as wide as the last one. The controller is fancy. The new one is quieter than my last one. Overall, I'm happy with it. Everything changes, and you just have to get used to it. ... show more
