I am getting back into RC Airplanes and haven't flown since I was a teenager. I'm retired now. That should give you an idea of how long I've been away. I was excited to hear about this new technology that stabilizes the planes. It's called SAFE. SAFE is really amazing. It keeps the plane stable in the attitude and direction you want to fly. It doesn't fly the airplane. So it's not foolproof. As long as you have a general idea of how an airplane works and you have a good open area, you're going to be pleasantly surprised how easy this airplane is to fly. SAFE has 3 levels, Easy, Advanced, and Off. Off being you're on you're on your own, no stabilization. What is cool about SAFE is that it doesn't take anything away from the flying experience. I was surprised how quickly the muscle memory comes back from flying these models but even the best pilot can become disoriented, especially if you get the airplane directly overhead. The cool thing is if you let go of the controls, the plane will simply level out and continue to fly in the direction it was going. This is awesome if you lose track of it's orientation, especially at a distance. If you have a large open area, you literally don't have to have any experience to get started. Now the plane itself: - High quality, and super durable - Super Stable (SAFE enabled) - Super easy to fly, very forgiving and predictable - Slow and easy landings (big floaty wings) - Big wheels for bouncy but soft landings - Takes off in about 10 ft - Looks amazing out of the box! Con's: - The wing stays attached. It can be removed but the wing struts prevent it from being like a lot of RC Planes where the wing pops on and off. Overall. Amazing airplane! Crazy fun for anyone. Don't hesitate. This airplane is super fun for the experienced or novice pilot. It's also doable for the new pilots if you have enough space. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The Carbon Cub is excellent If you are stepping up from the small 100.00 warbirds to a bigger 1 meter type plane. It lands and takes off just about anywhere meaning you don't have to go far to find a "runway" or suitable area to fly. inevitably as you learn, you will have some hard landings. But the big tires are very forgiving and help absorb the impact especially on pavement. Other planes this size are much less forgiving . And you can put floats on the Cub and land or takeoff on the water! Very fun. Our Carbon Cub flew strong and lasted almost 6months before I crashed it into a tree. ... show more

I chose this Carbon Cub as my reentry back into the hobby after a 12 year break from previously flying nitro planes. I started out in easy mode and quickly found myself in intermediate mode with the higher rates applied. The amount of confidence that this plane builds within you is just the sheer win in my book. My nervousness quickly disappeared as I got more and more comfortable with flying it and doing pattern work with touch and goes. If you are a beginner or a returning RC pilot then this is a great plane to ease you into/back into the hobby. Or if you're seasoned then this is a good "in between charges" daily driver. Assembly is straight forward with the only tools needed is a small Philips screwdriver. The transmitter is a basic Spectrum radio but it is quality and you are able to add flaps if you wanted to. Telemetry is also built in but you must run the Spektrum batteries in order for it to work. (I didn't use Spektrum so they aren't a must but it's a nice feature) Grab this plane you won't be disappointed! ... show more

I bought this for my grandson for making the high honor roll this year. My 14 yr old grandson put this plane together with his dad today, took it out to fly, started it up and the propeller exploded and flew off broken...what the heck....for the cost of this plane I would expect it to work the first time...NOT to have to buy a replacement right off the bat. Didn't even get off the ground!!#$×@ ... show more

Never did fly this as it was damaged when received. It looks like a hoot to fly so I'll be re ordering a replacement soon. Ordered it with pontoons also as we have some small bodies of water around here.
