As a life-long, experienced seamstress, i have worked on Singer sewing machines all my life. My old sewing machine gave up the ghost and so I ordered this machine from Amazon, I liked that it came with a foot pedal. I was however not prepared that this machine would soon test my wits to the bone mark sucking every last ounce of brains out of my head ,,, and it STILL does N O T work right ! The instruction booklet is very poorly written, like "all the lights are on and nobody is home" like ! The instructions are confusing and what the hell is the issue with the "Tension' on top of the machine.. iI have tried every which way to place the thread in the tension but the machine still does not sew a STRAIGHT line without "gathering/bunching up" the fabric .. why this confusion with the tension ?????? The dreading the needle is equally pathetic. = A.. backwards .. the handwheel is very rough to turn and will not loosen up .... in summary: this machine seems like it was designed by a macho alpha male BECAUSE THAT IS EXACTLY HOW IT ACTS ! It does not respond properly to commands I have given to Singer sewing machines ALL MY LIFE ... CATASTROPHIC !!!! I am returning this piece of junk for a FULL REFUND before losing my mind with it ... I grew up in Germany , the "homeland" of the Singer sewing machine and I am not bashful to say that this piece of junk is an INSULT TO MY HOMELAND GERMANY and my as well ... DO NOT PURCHASE THIS THING ... IT WILL SUCK EVERY LAST OUNCE OF BRAINMASS IN YOUR HEAD AND ... STILL DOES NOT WORK ...... IT IS A MACHO/ALPHA MALE B R A T !!!!!! ... show more

This machine came nicely packaged. I ordered the cream, beige version which has a cute, slightly retro look. Although it is a regular sized machine, it is very light weight, making it good for traveling. The machine was easy to thread, although I could never get the automatic needle threader to work. It had adequate lighting. The machine performed all the stitches fairly well. Although they all looked fine on the top side (the photo with the white thread), I thought the underside of the stitches (the photo with the black thread) did not look as good, and I could find no way to adjust the tension of the bobbin thread. After trying out all the stitches, I layered 10-12 layers of denim together and the machine had no problem stitching through all the layers. I didn't try out the zipper foot, but it looked like it should work fine to install a zipper. I did try out the button hole foot. The machine can sew just a plain, standard button hole. It was just okay looking. I probably would not want to use it on really nice garments. I think this machine would be best for people that just need to do simple sewing tasks, are traveling, or adults/children just learning how to sew. I'm counting off one star because of having no way to adjust the bobbin thread stitching, plus I found a name brand machine that is almost identical to this one for about $30 less. ... show more

This machine's instructions are comprehensive but there are still some places where it's a little difficult to follow. It does not come with thread! Make sure you have a spool ready to go if you purchase, so you can start experimenting as soon as this machine arrives.     • Cute but can't stich A or B without jams
Very cwute♡ and good for beginners like me minus the instructions because shesh confusing and it for some reason jams every time I try to do a A or B stitch and changing the oily bobin thing can be very very annoying......umm I love that it's not loud !!!!! And it's easy to thread ♡

It's easy to use. Easy to thread and set up. Plus, it's super cute! I love the colors. Perfect for beginners as well as advanced sewists. Powerful motor and gears. I'd say it has more power than a Singer Heavy Duty. In fact, I recommend this over Singer, Brother, Janome or any supermarket special.

They shipped the wrong color, I kept the machine anyway and it had problems almost immediately. I got this for my daughter as a starter machine. I’m a skilled seamstress and should have known better. I returned this item and will be buying a brand name.
