Ordered Hiland MTB from Amazon as gift to my daughter. When box arrived, immediately noticed there where three areas where box where damaged. Went ahead and immediately inspected the contents to ensure MTB wasn't damaged during shipping (Fedex). Company should consider using another shipper if damages like this continues. Luckily all parts were in good condition. All parts were accounted for, including skewers, pedals, bolts, etc. Easy to assembly if you are a novice rider. Only problem encountered is the adjustment of the front disc brake, after mounting the front wheel. Brake pads were rubbing against the disc brakes. The solution is to adjust the front brake calipers by loosening the two mounting bolts. Do not remove the mounting bolts, just loosen enough for the caliper to move. Then, depress brake levers all the way to force the brake pads to clamp onto the disc. Do this two times to ensure brake pads retract when brake levers are release. Depress front brake levers all the way and hold. Proceed and tighten the mounting bolts. Release lever and test front disc brakes. Repeat process if necessary. Love this bike! It was a gift for my wife for Mother's Day. She absolutely loves it. Assembly was pretty simple with the exception of the brake setup. It was simple for me because I have quite a bit of experience with tools and making sure things are in sync on mechanical items. If you aren't as skilled with hand tools, you should find resources on the proper way to setup and tune disc brakes on a multi-gear bike. It's not that difficult but if done incorrectly, it can affect the smoothness of the ride. It can also result in catastrophic brake failure (in extreme cases). So better to seek additional instruction. The manual lays it out pretty well but better safe than sorry. The seat was a bit small for my wife to be comfortable so we ordered a gel pad seat with more surface area. The original seat is sturdy and fine, this was just her personal preference. Her favorite features are the adjustable shocks, smooth gear changes, and the disc brakes work well (when set up properly). All in all, I would definitely recommend this bike as a smooth rider and light trail riding. ... show more

Arrived quickly, undamaged. Had all the tools I needed and was easy to assemble. Love that the tires are full and ready to ride. Bonus: bottle bracket screws made installing the bottle I go seperately go right on. Recommend!

I waited until I received my refund before writing this review. It's that bad. Many of the weight bearing parts on this bike are plastic, or very soft aluminum. The bolts that hold the handlebar on were full of aluminum shavings after unscrewing them to install the handlebar. Of the 4 bolts, two were larger diameter than the others which tells me they were already stripped and retapped at the factory. I would not trust those bolts and soft aluminum stem to support anyone's hands on the handlebars. The derailleur was plastic. Except the the hanger, and it was bent so badly that the derailleur was inside the spokes of the wheel. There was no damage to the box so was packed and shipped this way. One of the holes where the pedals go was stripped and at that point I just packed it back up and arranged for a refund. The only thing good about this bike is the color. I liked the teal and coral scheme. Too bad the bike is not worth $50. Hard to believe they have it priced at $280. ... show more

I got this bike so I can go on rides with my kiddos, I got the bike. It was easy to assemble took my about 20 minutes to put together. I was sad the seat could be a little more padded. And I had to order a water bottle holder to go with it. It was nice the holes where already in place for that. I love the color, it reminds me of my old bike when I was a kid. But my biggest complaint is there was no kick stand, had to buy that separately. Took it out for a 5 mile ride, it was great no issues so far. ... show more

    • Box arrived really beat up and bike had minor damage.
Box arrived really beat up, broken open and the bike had minor damage as a result. The bike was delivered by UPS and the box was so bad I really should have refused shipment because there was no way to tell if everything was still inside. I crossed my finders and accepted shipment because bikes are super hard to buy right now withe everything going on with COVID and this is a Christmas present. Luckily everything was in the box but the crank arms are scratched down to the bare metal and the forks on the frame are scratched in a similar manner down to the bare metal. The rear derailer also looks bent outward slightly. All that being said I took it to a bike shop and paid $100 to have them assemble it just to make sure everything functioned properly and the technician said that the bike appeared to be functional but the first few rides will tell. I will touch up the areas that are scratched with paint and hope for the best. I'm going to go on a few rides with my daughter directly after she opens it on Christmas and hopefully as is well. This bike is a good bike for what it is which is basically a bike that mimics the kinds of components you'd find on a really expensive bike by using cheap parts instead. That makes this bike just a step above a really cheap bike. For example the bike has disc brakes, a front suspension that locks if desired, front shifters that look like Shimano finger shifters and a seat post that clamps the rails instead of a seat post that accepts a seat that sits on top of a standard post. Those are the types of components you'd find on an $800 dollar bike, time will tell how these cheap parts hold up. Overall I'm just really disappointed that it arrived damaged which is why it only got 3 stars. For more than $300 they need to find a better way to ship these bikes to consumers. Shipping took longer than usual for things that ship to me from where this was shipped and as soon as I saw how long it would take I knew they shipped it the cheapest possible way. Everytime I get a package from UPS which was shipped that slow the box always looks like if the loading dock was at the top of the Grand Canyon and the person on the loading dock tossed it to the truck driver who was waiting at the bottom of the canyon. Fingers crossed the bike lasts until my 10 year old is really ready to upgrade to a serious bike. ... show more
