I've opened and used a few dozen 1/16ths. This one is certainly unique. Instead of having a center diff (or more commonly, no diff), it has two separate motors. It also feels chonkier, like it might be usable by someone younger, with supervision, maybe as young as 5, based on my experiences. However, I didn't push it to a breaking point, so I'm not sure if this chunky design translates into actual durability. The jst connection bothers me, too, but not for the same reason as the other reviewer. RC motors can pull a lot of amps, and a thin wire like this is only really rated for *maybe* 10 amps. The other reviewer recommended "chopping off the wires" but instead what you'd want to do is actually solder a new plug with wires, called a pigtail, to the connection on the cells, which is going to be under the plastic wrap. If you weren't concerned about the thin wires, an adapter could also easily be made, but probably hard to find premade. That kind of thing would require both a crimping tool and a soldering iron, so it's going to be out of reach for most people looking at this vehicle. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I really wanted to give this truck all high marks. It runs well through the grass, runs very fast on pavement, and handles very well. The tires are a bit wider than other 1/16 cars out there which I believe makes it more stable. Then the only thing things car lacks is a proper power connection. First, I will list the positives. This truck looks and feels rugged. When you take it out for a spin you will see what I mean. In the box you get a transmitter and an extra half shaft just in case you take a spill that breaks something. The rectangular headlights are nice, bright, and just add flair to this truck. Look at my photos and you will see what I mean. It is powered by dual motors, one front and one rear which supply plenty of power. Each motor is kept cool by heat sinks attached to each motor. This truck also has true proportional steering by way of a servo. You can easily adjust the tracking by turning a dial on the transmitter. The same holds true for dialing back your top speed if you wish. The throttle is also proportional. The farther back you squeeze the trigger the faster it goes. The active suspension shocks are a bit soft, but you need them to be that way for an all-terrain truck. The clips that hold the body in place have pull tabs making it easy to install or remove them. For those wishing to see some dimensional specs on the chassis I have included a photo of the pin spacing so you can see what sort of body shell would fit on this truck besides what it comes with. The truck is “armed” by pressing a hidden button on the side of the frame. A nice touch compared to another truck I have where the entire body needs to be removed. All the above would have given this truck an A+ rating. It is just the battery that drops that for me. The included battery is a two cell 1500 Mah pack. What is odd about it is that it has a single JST SM style connector for everything. The included charger balance charges the pack (which is good) so you are ready to go in about 80 minutes from a totally discharged state. But on the truck, itself, you have the same mating JST SM connector! It has the center pin removed. So, the vendor is powering the truck from the balancing charge port on the pack. This would not be important if “traditional” packs used JST SM connectors. But they do not. So, for me that is a showstopper. The solution would be to cut off the connector on the truck and install either an XT 60 style plug or a traditional JST two pin connector. Then pretty much any pack you wish to purchase in the same capacity range will work in the truck. If all you are going to use with this truck is the vendor provided pack, it will not be important to you. But just keep this in mind as you will have to go back to them to get a new or second pack. ... show more
