    • Great space saving unit that works as it should
So here’s the deal: if you are looking for a countertop ice maker that puts out enough ice for you and maybe another person or two, this one might be good for you. If you’re looking for one that’ll match most freezer ice makers, definitely not for you. Most of these countertop ice makers are not made for volume. With that said, this one works pretty well. Set up was simple and easy and once I filled the container I simply chose the size and started the machine. Within about 7 minutes it was dumping ice. I will say that the first couple of ice batches were a little wet but after that, each batch coming out was solid. I think it’s more of a warm up type thing. We use it for when we have people over so ice is constantly being made for guests. Again, depending on how much ice you need/want and how many people are using the ice, it may or may not be enough. I’d say for someone single or maybe a couple this works perfect. For a large family, it’s really just a supplement. Outside of that, it does work well and is fairly quick in producing ice. Overall, I’m very happy with it considering my intent for it. I haven’t yet tried the cleaning setting as we’ve only used it a few times so far but if it operates like it has been, I’m sure I’ll be happy with that as well. By the way, the cleaning setting is a big plus. The last one we had didn’t have this setting and it was a pain to clean. These all will get nasty if you don’t maintain them, just an FYI. I have an icemaker in my refrigerator but it is in the door and it is smaller so I wanted to get an icemaker to compensate, mainly so we can make ice for parties and everyone can access it quicker with the scoop instead of waiting for cubes to drop out very slowly from a dispenser. This is a neat little unit; it does not take up much room on the counter. It is self-cleaning, takes about 15 minutes and it is suggested to run it 3 to 4 times so it can take 45 minutes to an hour to clean as per the recommendations. It is easy to clean though, just fill the water to the Max line and hold the start/pause button for 3 seconds--off it goes. When it is done with a cycle you have to move it over to the sink or a place to dump the water and pull out the drain plug on the bottom to empty. It suggests wiping with a cloth to get any residual water out, so I do the tank at the bottom but leave the bin open to air dry. When I used it the first time, I was caught unaware, filled it to Max but didn't wait for water to fill in the tank so I started it and it came up with a light to add water. I didn't know how much to add so I filled it to Max again and it spilled out. When you first pour water into an empty tank, wait until you do not hear it draining in anymore before you start to make ice. I go for the small setting and in about 6 minutes or so it dumped out the first batch and it may have been enough for one glass. It took about 2.5 hours to fill the bin. It has a sensor to know when it is full and stop making ice and conversely when ice has been taken, it will make more to refill the bin. Overall, this a good machine and nice if you want additional ice, but here are a couple of things that I reduced a star for. It is a bit louder than I expected. I have it on our kitchen counter and it is loud but not too loud that I cannot take it or feel the need to move it (just yet). Secondly, the instructions state if you move it or angle it too much you have to wait 6 hours to use it. That seems quite a penalty to move it. Lastly, I was expecting the small ice cubes to be smaller than they were. Outside of those two things I really like everything else about it. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I thought this unit might be perfect for my cabin where the fridge there does not have an ice maker and I was right. I make a bunch of ice with this ice maker and then store it in the freezer. Then I store the ice maker away until I run low on ice again. This ice maker is pretty small and the fan is a bit loud but you get used to it. I timed it and 6 ice cubes do come out every 6 minutes. My unit came with a back tray that I couldn't find any pictures of to tell what it was. It seems to be a drip tray that fits in front of the unit. I made both small and large cubes, and I couldn't really tell they were different. I also saw that the ice tray doesn't empty completely of water, so if you want to empty the ice tray by dumping it, you get water too. To get around this, I started just adding water directly to the lower tank. I had a lot of fun making the ice. I'm really happy with this unit. I love the small size. It stores away nicely. And even though it only makes 6 cubes at a time, they start adding up fast! Notes: - 6 Cubes every 6 minutes just like it says - Unit does have a loudish fan - The size difference between the large and small setting is negligible - Unit has cleaning cycle - Mine came with a black plastic tray that seems to fit in front of the unit. - Very fun and easy to use - To avoid water in the bottom of the ice bucket, I started adding water directly to the tank ... show more
