    • Super easy to use!
When we order firewood there's always a few pieces that are too thick to burn efficiently, so they sit unused for the winter, and we always say we'll rent a log splitter the next spring to make the pieces small enough to use. That never happens, and the pieces started piling up. Finally I saw this product and decided to try it. I'm almost 60 and am not able to swing an axe with enough force to split wood, so it made sense. I'm really glad I did. All I have to do is set a piece on top, give it a couple of taps with the back of the axe so it sticks, then give it a couple of medium whacks and it splits perfectly and with minimal effort.     • Works great on softwood
I was able to split softwood very easily with just a mallet. Be sure to wear ear plugs when using. Item should be set on a firm, hard surface. I tried some small diameter oak, and it took a lot of effort to split those. It's a rock solid piece of metal.

The splitter works fairly well. The dryer the wood the better. It works best on smaller log pieces. I will get a stump to bolt it down to as I think that will improved performance.

    • Great tool for making kindling!
Fast and easy to use. I bought a 4 lb. Short handle sledge. Split seasoned hard oak with minimal effort. Kindling problem solved. Wear work boots as Kindling shoots down near your feet, hence the deflectors. Great tool!!

    • Extremely dull and factory welds are dangerous
Product upon opening seems robust but it was kind of a bad purchase. It was very dull , however I sharpened it up somewhat ok it needs to keep a thick profile. My big problem is the factory welds on the side splitters didn’t have the burrs wire brushed/sanded down so I did get a nasty cut just picking it up from the base when I opened the product. ... show more
