I bought this torch to kill weeds. The convenience of being able to use a 20lb tank or 1lb canister is great. This torch is well built and works every time. The 20lb tank works better and hotter and is great for larger areas. I use the 1lb canister on the more remote areas. 1lb canisters lasts about 10-15 mins depending on how large of a flame you want to use.. I would highly recommend this torch. Cons.. the flame is too wide for pin point burning but I prefer the larger flame for every other application.. ... show more

I received this weed torch as a Christmas present. From the time it was purchased to the time I opened it, 30 days had expired and it was still brand new in the box. Brand new in the box it had a broken brass fitting. I would love to replace the part or have it repaired but there is no customer service available that will answer my phone calls or emails. And the fitting is a very small week looking point that looks as if it would break sometime in the near future, even if it was in perfect condition. Don't buy it! ... show more

I have brick edging around my garden beds— square bricks laid horizontally (for the mower wheel to drive over) and vertical bricks behind them. No matter what, weeds always find their way up in between. It's impossible to pull these out without moving the bricks, so I thought I'd give flame throwing a shot. Wow, this thing is incredible. It's much lighter weight than I anticipated. It doesn't take much to singe the weeds. I slowly walked around the perimeter, making sure to hit each weed for a couple seconds. I came back the next day and most were dead. Another day or two later and they were all dead! As others have said, you don't need to burn them to the ground, just heat them up so their cells die. I like having the option to use different size propane tanks. The self-ignition button is fantastic. Overall, excellent product. ... show more

Burns... sure. I tried to burn some weeds... it takes a while... green weeds are expected to take a bit longer than dry... but it still takes a while.

This is a very versatile propane torch. You can use a number of sizes of propane tank or canister with the device. I have a similar torch but it has an almost pinpoint flame. I got this because it has a larger flame which is faster and easier when you are torching a larger area. I tried it on a couple different weed-infested areas with good results. I used a standard BernzOmatic® 14.1 oz propane canister which fit perfectly. The only issue was that the canister was nearly empty when I put it on and I quickly used up the contents burning weeds. Everything works well on the torch. The igniter is in a good location, not too far out of reach and lights the torch easily. The “turbo boost trigger” increases the flow of gas to provide a high-pressure flame that makes short work of weeds. There is also a twist knob to start the flow of gas at a low rate for lighting the torch. I assume you can also control the flame with this if you don’t want to use the turbo boost trigger. Overall, this works really well. I am glad I can use this for weed control while avoiding toxic chemicals. I recommend this item. ... show more
