When we bought our house years ago, the former owner had installed "luxury vinyl" flooring through most of the house. It may have been luxury, but the look of it was a little too cheap, so I have been replacing it with an engineered laminate. My wife has a respiratory issue with large amounts of dust, so up to this point, I have made trips back and forth to my shop at the back of the property to make cuts. I ran across this cutter and was intrigued, so I had to try it. Today I needed to install the flooring in my bedroom closet, which is only about 2 foot by 8 foot, but was offset because of the hallway outside of it. I pulled out all the baseboard trim and the vinyl, then gave this cutter a test. I have to admit that it cut the engineered laminate a whole lot cleaner than I expected. I wouldn't use it for an edges I would see, but since this type of flooring generally terminates under the baseboard, it was perfect. If all you are cutting is lengths, the job goes very quickly with almost no dust. I didn't cut a ton since it wasn't that large of a space, but it made it go very, very quickly. I especially liked having this cutter when I cut a board running along the wall and didn't realize a bulge that made it too long. A quick nip off the end with this cutter and it was ready. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised how effective this cutter is. Not as elegant as the miter saw, but just as effective when terminating ends under the baseboard.     • cuts clean and is accurate
First a confession. I am a woodworker and on a lot of my small projects I apply wood veneer to a low cost base like plywood and turn a plain piece of plywood into a beautiful piece of exotic wood. In doing veneering it is essential that you have a straight edge on the veneer if you are going to butt them together. Doing that with a box knife or saw sometimes doesn't really end up the way it needs to be done and requires it be redone. This cutter cuts veneer perfectly, even on really difficult veneer to cut without pull outs. For my purposes this is really going to be great going forward. But I wanted to also review it in the context of flooring. I did not have any flooring in my shop so I tried it on a couple of different species of wood about 3/8 inch thick. It slices through maple and walnut and yellow heart and leaves a clean straight edge. The instructions for assembling the cutter are clear and easy to follow, with lots of good pictures and was accomplished in about 10 or 15 minutes. They even include a whet stone to sharpen the blade, though they do not instruct you on how to use it, though I am thinking you sharpen from the front edge of the blade as that is where it is beveled. Overall, I believe that this tool is well constructed and everything fit perfectly when putting it together. This would surely be a lot easier and faster cutting option, especially on wood flooring, with a lot less mess than sawing it. ... show more

    • Wow is all I can say
Unlike days gone by when as an American consumer tools bought from overseas manufacturers were scoffed at. No more, nowadays the quality is up there in a lot of cases with other well know desired offerings. Case in point is this guillotine style cutter for laminate flooring, siding etc. Thanks to the adjustable for length handle this makes short work of any thing within reason it’s tasked to cut to size. Generous size of the cutting head easily accommodates up to 12” items. Heavy duty construction means no flex to body ensuring accurate cuts time after time. Easy to move around thanks to built in wheels, along with that the weight helps to keep it steady and in place, not skating around. Plastic cutting bed means items easily glide across its mar free surface. Cutting blade can easily be resharpened with included honing stone, which honestly is the only item that they could have done better on. If your looking for a manual operated compact cut station look no further then this one here, you will thank me. ... show more

    • Great Cutter
This cutter is great for flooring. I've worked for years doing LVP and have always used a chop saw and table saw, but have always had the problem of - understandably - excessive plastic particles flaking off from the cuts which tend to cling to clothing and then get evenly distributed throughout the home I'm working in as well as having to walk out of the home to access the saw setup. This cutter eliminates both problems for cuts (but not for rips): there are no plastic flakes to deal with because of the single cut, and it can be stationed directly next to the area being worked on and therefore saves a lot of time going in and out of the home to make cuts. The build of the tool is also very robust and seems like it would hold up for the long haul. Having a replaceable blade (that can also be sharpened if you can keep the edge straight) is incredibly nice as well. I only tried this on flooring, so I can't speak to it for exterior vinyl siding, but I would take this tool any day of the week for making cuts on LVP. Highly recommend it. ... show more
