  • Looks great!
Size: 1 Pack
The doorbell is solidly built, looks great, and has a nice heft to it. The bronze finish on the screws wasn't scratched by installation. I couldn't be happier!

  • Item purchased 1-21 is LED
Size: 1 Pack
**edit** Power went out the day after I installed this new button. After power-on, button light is working. That's a plus. The LED is considerably brighter and whiter than the incandescent, as LEDs generally are. I'd prefer the softer glow of an incandescent, but, as noted, replacing the PBL-2s is an expense I'm tired of fussing with.**edit** The description does not say. Answered questions say both 'yes' and 'no'. Many times questions concerning different items or items changed over time are put together. Not sure in this case what happened. Clearly the pic of the back of the button is not a bulb, and the packaging of what I got says 'LED' right on it. A seller asked a question in the answer part of the Q&As...and no response is possible in that venue. I was asked if I wanted incandescent. I wanted an LED unit. The PBL-2 bulbs in my older button went out on a regular basis, and they are ridiculously expensive...$5/ea. My point was the difference in responses to the same question; led or bulb? Seems reasonable that would be a main bullet point in the description of the item. Most LED doorbell buttons require a 5/8" hole to fit the doorbell into. This one does not. That is very handy when replacing an old button and wanting an LED configuration. It is not always easy to get that 5/8" hole in a house siding, particularly when there is a wire coming out of the middle of where it needs to be. Brick, stucco and such would be a bother. My siding is cedar, so not a huge problem, still I would rather not have to fuss with making that hole. One of the reasons I bought this button is that it does not require such a hole. It's the same size/shape as my old button AND it fits flush with no hole making required. The mounting screws are the same distance apart as the old button. And hopefully, whatever takes out the PBL-2s every time the power goes out (transformer influx current I'm sure) won't be bothering the LED 'lectronics. It has a very nice construction and finish. All it will take is three power glitches (if the LED assy. survives) and NOT paying for replacement bulbs in my old bell button for this one to be free to me. My 30-year old doorbell is nothing special, a transformer driven two-tone nutone/broan looking thing that says maple/chase on it. Most of them work the same way: The transformer powers the bulb all the time, a push of the button allows more current to flow in the transformer and the ding-dong solenoid is activated. Well, specifically it's 'ding' on activation and 'dong' on de-activation because the solenoid plunger is spring loaded. This pretty, sturdy, metal-cased button is a huge improvement over the plastic thing I have. I'm sure the no-one that ever rings it will be glad it's there! ... show more

  • Quality Doorbell that won't Spy on You
Size: 1 Pack
One of the lessons I've learned over the years of buying homes is look at the condition of the doorbell. When I find a place that has the cheap plastic beige doorbells of the past, I know that the owner was probably maxed out with their budget and couldn't afford the preventive maintenance that a home requires over time. If they allowed the doorbell to turn beige, get crusty and fall apart, they probably didn't have pride in their home. The lint filter is probably never changed, and the dryer vent is probably filthy. How much hair is trapped in the sink drain? How much does the toilet wobble? Are there leaks in the roof? Was the previous homeowner even maxing out their 401(k)? The doorbell (along with the mailbox and condition of the sidewalk) are a glimpse into that. There's a strong correlation between having a solid, quality doorbell, and having pride in your home. Would you buy a used car if the first thing you noticed was the door handle was broken or stripped down to the primer? Of course not, because you know that the rest of the car was not maintained. This is one of the finishing touches on a well cared for home. Get yourself a good doorbell. This is a true metal frame with a lead-free surface mount soldered circuit board. No rounded bends and blob solder jobs on the resistors like I've seen in other doorbells. The button mechanism itself is plastic, but utilizes a solid quality plastic that illuminates well at night. It wears well, and won't spy on you. Wiring is easy, and attention to detail with this doorbell is paramount, as all of the screws (the screws used for wiring and the screws used to mount the device) are of the "phillips head" persuasion. You will only need one screwdriver to install this. NOTE: You may need to bring a flathead screwdriver anyway, because your previous cheap doorbell probably had flathead screws to mount it, and phillips to wire it). If you want to show that you love your home to your family, friends, children, God, or potential buyers, please purchase this doorbell. You are silently being judged. ... show more
