  • Good filament but the glow is sub par compared to others.
Color: Glow
I have an extensive history when it comes to printing glow ABS and all of the basic "Glow in the Dark" filaments are an off-white color - not pure white but more like white that's been watered down a bit. The Hatchbox Glow in the Dark is a CLEAR filament with a touch of haziness to it. Printing it ls like printing clear PETG where the final print isn't actually transparent but more akin to an ice cube. It prints well - no complaints there. Adhesion and uniformity were on point. The glow effect just wasn't what I'm used to out of a standard Glow in the Dark filament and with the Hatchbox name and pricing, I assumed it would be exceptional in that area. ... show more

  • Great ABS, likes to be printed at lower temp than other ABS filaments
Color: Copper
This ABS leaves little to be desired. It's just solid. I run a 110c bed temp with 230 print temp. Most other ABS filaments want to be printed above 240c so I struggled for a while figuring out why I wasn't getting good prints. Once I lowered the temp 10c, everything fell into place.

  • Cant complain
Color: Black
HATCHBOX ABS 3D Printer Filament is a true gem for any 3D printing enthusiast. It performs flawlessly, producing high-quality prints with excellent layer adhesion and minimal warping.

  • True phosphorescence
Color: Glow
This glow-in-the-dark filament glows surprisingly well. It lights up great in the dark (remember to "charge" it with light) and also looks great under black and UV lighting. Prints are also quite durable and accurate on our Polyprinter. I use a lot of Hatchbox ABS and am not disappointed in the least. ... show more

  • Has been my go to ABS for years
Color: White
This has been my go to for years now. It’s by far the easiest abs that I’ve printed with. This and Overture that is. While I’ve had my fair share of failures over the years, I’ve been able to actually dial hatchbox in pretty well. Finished prints look sharp with a flat sheen in the color you choose. I mostly use black, white, and grey. I would make recommendations, but I’ve found that each of my printers have very different settings for them, so it’s hard to give recommendations. I will say, when it comes to larger prints, this one has worked really well with less warping over other options. ... show more

  • Filament arrives wet
Color: Light Blue
The filament seems to print well enough once you finally get it dry, was definitely surprised when I went to use it right out of the box a few hours after it was delivered and the sealed bag with desiccant that it comes it had apparently not kept the material dry before it got to me.

  • not sure what blend it is, but it's not ABS
Color: Yellow
Update: Changed to 3 stars. OK... I have spent way too much time trying to get this "ABS" filament to print. As you can see in the second photo, I have finally gotten it to mostly print, still a few minor issues with stringing, and globing if the print head spends too much time in one area. Instead of treating this filament as ABS, I treated it more like I would print a PETG. I still used a fully enclosed print volume set at about 50-55C. If you are interested here are the Cura slicer settings that are working for my QIDI X-Max printer: * 0.6 Nozzle * Print bed set to initial 95C, printing 90C (No problems with adhesion) * Retraction set to 1.5mm at 30mm/s * Top/Bottom Pattern: Concentric (This is critical as it keeps the print head from spending too much time in one place, and thus melting/globbing the layer below) * Infill Density: 40% (The pattern did not seem to make much difference, so I used zig zag) * Combing mode: all * Avoid printed parts when traveling (Again to keep the nozzle from wiping on the lower layers) * Print speed: 60 mm/s, Travel speed: 100mm/s * Minimum layer time: 20 - 30 seconds (This allows the material to set a bit and really reduced globing) * Temp: 240 C * Enabled print cooling (This is not what you are supposed to do with ABS, but it worked for me) * fan speed: 50% - 70% (the fan in combination with the min layer time) ensures that the material just printed gets cooled before the print head wipes over it again * Lift head enabled (Forces the printer to lift the nozzle away from the print and wait any remaining time. On my printer the print head usually centers itself, so the fan tends to blow across the whole print) these settings seem to be working on the temp tower test print (See the second photo). Next, I'll try a cube, or maybe even a full print if I'm feeling lucky. So... After all this would I buy this media again. I'm not sure, it was a huge hassle and not really close to how other ABS material prints. I theorize that hatchbox was trying to make an ABS that would print on any printer, and not just printers designed to print ABS. you can see this, in my settings as they are much closer to what I use for PETG than any recommendations for ABS. Original Review: I cannot make this filament print. you can see several temp towers in the first photo. I've tried varying the temperature up and down, from 180 - 250 C. I have also experimented with setting the layer print time between 7 seconds and 25 seconds. I've sped up and slowed down the print speed, changed the layer height. always the same goopy mess for prints. I cut a test hunk of filament and placed it in acetone for about 30 seconds, I did get some of the material on a rag, but it did not dissolve at the rate a sample of ABS I had on hand (Not filament, but ABS plastic). unfortunately, I'm past the return window. but I can state that this is the last hatch box filament I'll ever buy. The only thing I have not tried is using the cooling fan, and printing it as I would PETG. but if it is ABS, that should result in warping and likely layer separation. ... show more
