My husband is skinny and was complaining about pain in his hips from our new mattress being too hard. We recently bought a purple mattress but missed the return period. So I bought this hoping it would help him. It did. It adds just enough softness without being too soft (or thick). And he doesn’t complain about it as much. Lol. It also has a removable washable cover (which is nice) though it is an exercise in patience to put it back on. Also I recommend not using a mattress cover over it since the foam responds to your body heat. It is also very well made - there was no smell coming directly out of the box, and I placed it on my bed and used it 12 hours after removing it from the box. In an bio it I can back and put on sheets, comforters etc. I am in LOVE. What a difference 3” of the good stuff can do. First off, it’s not the manufacturers fault that soft mattresses aren’t good for certain individuals. That’s on the buyer to buy the correct mattress/mattress topper. Second, I love a soft mattress. I bought a mattress for the guest room and it was very hard and you could almost feel the springs in it. So I decided to shell out $100 for this topper, and I’m so glad I did.
