I love this! I've only had it a couple days and I've used it to wind half of my yarn stash. I had heard the plastic ones die quick. So I spent a little more for the metal. I didn't come with instructions to assemble it. But I was just the center plastic spool and the wire guide. The spool just clicks into place. ... show more

Hard to get it to rotate smoothly, kinda jerks. Love the “biscuits when done but so far not as easy as it looks, but I’ll figure it out. Came with zero instructions.

It didn’t come with instructions but a quick YouTube video and I was on my way! It’s proper metal, doesn’t look cheap. Works well, glad I spent the extra money over the $20 cheap options

Ball winder gears stick and grind. I couldn’t even wind one ball of yarn before giving up and repackaging for return. Don’t waste your time or money on this item

    • Easy peasy yarn cakes
I was skeptical to buy a yarn winder because they all look cheap and floppy. I didn’t think it would work but I took a chance and bought it. Easy to set up. I was quickly able to make many yarn cakes without getting tired out from cranking this thing. Buy it. You will like it.

Really good spinner, the cone grips the yarn well, the spinning motion is smooth although you might want to put a drop or two of mineral oil between the cogs. Also, make sure you tighten the wingnut on the long yarn guide very tightly and check the tightness often, if that guide slips out of place you run the risk of your yarn getting pulled into the cogs. The only problem I have with it is that the cone doesn’t come off once assembled, so there is no way to return it to the original box after assembly. Since it is quite an awkward item, it would have been nice to have a box for it. ... show more

    • Ok item but a bit pricy
A but expensive for what it is and have to adjust things here and there and I noticed gear wear but it does the job for now.
