Description

Making a complete and balanced meal in the Hamilton Beach Electric Rice Cooker and Steamer is as easy as placing the ingredients in the bowl and turning it on. Not only does it cook rice and whole grains perfectly, but an integrated basket can be used to steam seafood, poultry and vegetables even while the rice cooks below. That means with just a few presses of a button, it’s quick and easy to serve salmon with kale and quinoa one night and chicken and broccoli over white rice the next. The 2-in-1 steamer basket can also be used to rinse grains before cooking, which prevents clumping and results in a fresher taste. Clean up is a snap with the dishwasher safe nonstick cooking pot. Its compact size makes for easy storage. Cooking healthy, delicious meals doesn’t get any simpler than that.

  • Multicooker For One
Size: 6 Cups Cooked (3 Uncooked)
This Hamilton Beach mutlicooker is a small 1.5 quart size cooker with several preset functions. There are preset time buttons for cooking. The preset values in slow cooker mode are default times that can only be incremented by 30 minutes at a time. The presets cannot be decreased. I used the cooker's egg, rice and slow cook functions. The egg function makes perfectly cooked eggs. The rice function made very good fluffy rice (I used only brown rice). I used in low mode for slow the food was still hot when finished. The only real downside I can think of for this cooker is the lid doesn't seem too durable. The lid is fastened to the cooker by two plastic clips. Flipping the lid over, it seems like the silicone gasket doesn't remove without the possibility of having to unscrew tiny screws on the lid (which I did not try). This makes the cooker a bit awkward to clean. The lid is functional but just seems a bit fragile. In summary, here is what I like and dislike of the cooker: - Likes -------- - eggs come out perfect - brown rice cooks nice and fluffy - slow cook on low cooks food to hot but not too hot temperature - entire lid comes off, thus can be soaked in dish soap to wash Dislikes: - lid doesn't look durable - can't set precise slow cooking times (can only use preprogrammed times and from there, 30 minute increments) I give the Hamilton Beach 37524 Digital Programmable Cooker 4 stars out of 5. ... show more

  • Great for cooking brown rice
Size: 8 Cups Cooked (4 Uncooked)
My old rice cooker went bad, need a replacement. I was looking for very simple rice cooker, no need for any fancy features. Just cook rice, brown rice in particular because that’s what I eat. I selected this Hamilton Beach 8 cups rice cooker because I have good overall impression of Hamilton Beach as a brand. Had an HB juicer and it lasted forever. The package was well organized and protected. Came with some accessories neatly packed, but all I really needed was the measuring cup. The coating on the nonstick pot seems rather thin, and the pot doesn’t feel as sturdy as ones seem in higher end rice cooker. Also, the power cord is extremely short, measured at only about 25 inches. That kind of limits where you can place it on the countertop, unless you have an extension cord. Cooking process was nice and simple, I basically rinse the rice, add water, place the pot in the cooker, press “Whole Grain” cooking option, and that is it! This simple rice cooker does its main job very well, I am satisfied with the result. It is very well-priced for a simple rice cooker. My expectation is to enjoy trouble-free rice cooking for the next 3~4 years. If this thing breaks within 1 year (or even shorter), you will see me come back to update the review. ... show more

  • I love this!
Size: 6 Cups Cooked (3 Uncooked)
I primarily bought this for cooking rice and am very pleased with it. The rice can get a little crust on the bottom (not burned or crispy though) but we usually make fried rice with it so it’s not a problem. I have also made steamed veggies and hard boiled eggs in it and they came out perfect. I haven’t tried it for cereals or other grains nor have I used the slow cooker function, so can’t speak for those options. It is so easy to use and clean. I bought the 6 cup size and it is just right for 2 people and doesn’t take up too much space. So happy I chose this! ... show more

  • Happy
Size: 14 Cups Cooked (7 Uncooked)
So far I am very happy with our rice cooker. My last rice cooker was also a Hamilton Beach. This new one is a little bit smaller in size, but it makes great rice. I have not steamed broccoli in it yet. Since the size is a bit smaller I do have concerns if a whole bag of broccoli will fit in there container. But will deal with that issue when I come to it. But overall, I am very happy and would recommend this product. ... show more

  • The only problem I have
Size: 14 Cups Cooked (7 Uncooked)
The only problem I have is the strainer. What a pain, why would you make a rice strainer with slots that catch the rice? I have to clean it with a knife to get them out. Other than that it's been great. I read some of the other reviews and I'm betting the cleanup and the overflow issues are probably due to using minute rice or similar, that's when it happened for me. Also there's a learning curve with doing rice while also cooking stuff in the strainer because the food in the strainer will drain additional water to the rice while being cooked giving you rice soup. ... show more

  • Low tech and basic, which is why I love it
Size: 8 Cups Cooked (4 Uncooked)
I got this to replace my previous rice cooker, the lid of which grew some interesting fungus that freaked me out. This one supposedly has a removable metal plate in the lid you can remove and clean, which is why I got it, but I am afraid to remove it because there's no obvious screw. Instead I wipe it with a moist paper towel just after use. To lessen the splatter of food on the inside lid, I stir grains well into the water before cooking. The water catcher by the hinge is easy to pop out and clean. The keep warm feature is great for my morning oatmeal. I use this for all the grains (quinoa, rice, barley, oatmeal) and it works beautifully. The steamer basket is useless for more than a single serving of fish or veggies, although it doubles as a colander to rinse your rice; mostly I don't use it. ... show more

  • rice cooking made easy
Size: 8 Cups Cooked (4 Uncooked)
i've tried other rice cookers before this one. the others were dented, or melting the paint off. but this one, i love it! had no problems and use it easily twice a week. you want some good rice but don't want it right away, it will go to keep warm and its always hot for those 12 hours. easy to clean with a paper towel and now its been 3 months and its my favorite kitchen appliance, sorry microwave but you've been replaced! ... show more
