  • Quiet and easy to use
Color: Black Size: 20oz
I got this for my husband and I, we have a baby and he works super early hours, hints why we needed it to be quiet. It's perfect! I'll update if something goes wrong. We had a magic bullet before and I was not happy with it, messy, lid was a struggle, leaked.... So I was a little concerned with getting the same style one as the magic bullet. But the price and the single serving cup persuaded me to purchase this one, storage wise. Honestly it's great we've only had it for 2 weeks, but we both have a smoothie for breakfast. The quiet shield is extremely easy to use and it actually works. Haven't woke my baby up once! Although I will add my baby sleeps through dogs barking so if yours is a light sleeper, this may not be the best review for you? Blending power is great, I'm putting whole fruits and ice in mine and it blends perfectly fine, I wouldn't say the blending power is as good as a ninja or a Vitamix but that's also a huge machine compared to this. • I had the older version
Color: Black Size: 20oz
This blender smoothie maker is much bigger than the old one. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't even fit under the cabinets on the counter. You have to put it away in a bigger cabinet. However it works great and it super easy to clean. The old one would always leak as you were blending. I bought a few and same thing. This one does not leak and is super good. Also the little sippy cap that comes with it is great. ... show more

  • Great power, one-touch button is convenient, and the quiet shield works well
Color: Black Size: 20oz
I just used this for two shakes, and so far it is working very well, people already talked about the major pros/cons of this, let me talk about the little things that make this one different than other personal personal blenders: 1. The quiet shield works very well, it significantly reduces the sound in my opinion, especially the rattles. Quiet shield swings open, and has a "hop" to make sure it clears the blender. Nice touch, excellent engineering. 2. The blade assembly has two "fins" that clean up the lip of the cup as you open it, very nice touch 3. Unlike other personal blenders where you press down on the container to run it, this one holds it for you and you press a button to blend (similar to standing blender). I found this to be very convenient. 4. Most personal blenders are "pulse" only. This has a blend option to keep it going. Great for cleaning where it recommends running it with soap for 30 seconds. So far, excellent design and power. It is like a standing blender/personal blender cross over with the pros of both. I will update this review in a few months to update on the review. ... show more

  • ok but not my favorite one
Color: Black Size: 20oz
I have a small Shunshi 16 oz/600ml hand blender (600W?) and used a Ninja bench top blender (1000W) on vacation at the rental house we were staying to make my daily smoothie. What I did not realize until I had tried this Hamilton blender is that both - the Shunshi & Ninja- are so much easier to clean as the blades are not recessed. Granted, totally different models as one is hand held and rechargeable and the Ninja is corded. I don't really care overall if a blender is noisy for the few minutes it takes to blend a smoothie but how efficiently the blender base with the blades can be cleaned IS important to me as larger berry residue etc. gets stuck on the blades and can't be easily removed if recessed. Yes, it is less noisy due to the shield that is moved over the cup when in action but it turns out that that is just another step that is not really that important to me..... So overall personal preference I would say but ended up returning mine. ... show more

  • Good for baby food
Color: Black Size: 20oz
I was looking for a blender that was compact enough for pureeing baby food but large enough to make smoothies for myself and this fit the bill! My baby dislikes loud noises and she was terrified of my Ninja blender. I wouldn’t call this blender “quiet” but just a little noisy. It would wake a nearby baby but it wouldn’t startle an awake baby. ... show more

  • Good power & small footprint, but tricky seal & not so quiet
Color: Black Size: 20oz
FINAL UPDATE (inserted at the beginning if you want to read only this one) -- After giving up on this Single Serve blender, I ordered the "Hamilton Beach 58175 Wave Action Blender for Shakes and Smoothies, Stainless Steel Ice Sabre Blades, 800 Watts, Quiet Design, 40 oz Glass Jar, Black" and have since lowered my rating to one star on this 800 Watt Single Serve Power Blender. Most importantly, the motor itself on the Wave Action model is truly quieter, and the Wave Action has a far better, more permanent seal that doesn't look like it will have the wear-out and leaking problems of the seal on the Single Serve blender. The noise shield around the Single Serve container does nothing to reduce motor noise -- it only slightly quiets container noise. The newer design of the Wave Action motor does the best job of job reducing noise of any blender I've ever owned. It may be that the wave action, and the thicker and larger glass jar also contribute to quieter and simpler use. The container shield seems unnecessary. Also, the glass jar, which is considerably larger, itself is a nicer feature. Their footprints and height are about the same, so the Wave Action takes no more space. In my opinion, there is no good reason to buy the Single Serve blender. So far, I'm much happier with the Wave Action blender, with hopes of not having annoying and time-consuming problems that make no sense. My earlier reviews describing previous issues are below, but this one alone makes the long story short. ____________________________________ I first ordered this personal blender in August 2021 for making almost daily protein/veggie/fruit smoothies. I've always been happy with the strong 800W of power, small footprint on the counter, and the sizable single-serving 20 oz. container. However -- I've never thought it was that quiet, because the noise shield only helps with the container noise and not with the motor noise. For container noise, harder foods such as carrots and frozen fruits are much noisier to blend (although they do blend well) than soft foods such as leafy greens and protein powders in liquid. Hopefully, an affordable blender with a quieter and/or muffled motor will come on the market, especially for apartment dwellers and others who want truly quieter blenders. Regarding the seal -- after a year-and-a-half of almost daily use, the old-style, flat and sturdy rubber O-ring seal that the blender came with in August 2021 finally wore out and wouldn't seal the base of the container without the seal leaking. I searched high and low, but couldn't find just a replacement O-ring; and I had to order the entire "cutting blade assembly" directly from Hamilton Beach. The assembly -- the hard, black plastic container base, cutting blades, and O-ring seal -- was $11 plus $12 for shipping and tax, where just the simple rubber seal I needed would have cost much less; and 2 or 3 replacement seals could have been sent to save future time and trouble for customers. Notably, when the assembly arrived, the O-ring was no longer the traditional flat and sturdy seal. You can see the new seal by using the close-up feature on the cutting blade assembly (currently the second photo from the right) on Amazon's product webpage. The seal is now ribbed and more three dimensional -- sort of squishy and flimsy -- rather than flat and sturdy as was the previous seal. Most notably, there's now a very thin margin between under-tightening or over-tightening the new seal. If you under-tighten the seal, it'll obviously leak. If you over-tighten the seal, it'll bulge out and leak. I don't know why product designers made this change, and I'll be pleasantly surprised if this new seal lasts as long as or longer than the previous seal -- a year and a half (for me, until August 2024) -- without leaking, no matter how carefully it's tightened. I'll try to update this review if it does. UPDATE, mid-November 2023 -- I'm halfway, with the new seal design, to the year-and-a-half that the old seal design lasted -- and I am pleasantly surprised. The new seal -- when very carefully tightened -- doesn't leak and hasn't worn out yet. I've found that by holding the blade housing and seal with my thumb and middle finger along the seal, as I tighten it with my other hand on the jar, I can usually feel if the seal is bulging out because it's too tight. (see photo) As I first wrote, there's a very thin (and tricky) margin between the seal being too tight (thus bulging out and leaking) or it being too loose and leaking. I cautiously tighten the seal right up to the limit of that margin so I can feel that the seal isn't bulging, as I try to get it just tight enough to not leak. Then I watch closely for leaking as I begin blending, and redo if necessary. From almost daily use over nine months, I've gotten better at it. Giving the benefit of the doubt that the seal will last another nine months or more, I've raised my overall rating by one star to four stars, because regardless of the shield somewhat muffling the container noise -- the motor isn't as quiet as I wish. LAST UPDATE -- October 2024 -- I ordered this blender in August 2021, and have used it almost daily for just over three years to make smoothies with hard foods (baby carrots and frozen fruits) plus softer foods such as spinach, kale, protein and collagen powders, oat bran, ground flax seeds, and liquids. As I wrote earlier, the O-ring seal is now ribbed and more three dimensional -- sort of squishy and flimsy -- rather than flat and sturdy as was the previous seal. Most notably, there's a very thin margin between under-tightening or over-tightening the new seal. If you under-tighten the seal, it'll obviously leak. If you over-tighten the seal, it'll bulge out and leak. The replacement cutting assembly -- the hard, black plastic container base, cutting blades, and new O-ring seal -- now total over $30, where just the simple rubber seal would have cost much less. The newer seal -- that I received with the replacement cutting blade assembly -- gradually declined, sealing less and less effectively over time, and has just now worn out and is unusable. It is stretched out of shape, regardless of my ever-mindful and cautious tightening, and no longer seals at all. As the seal gradually declined, I often needed to wipe leakage from around the seal and inside the blender housing. And, a new cutting blade assembly from Hamilton Beach, which you have to buy simply to replace the seal, and shipping, are now both over $15, totaling over $30 -- which is ridiculous considering that you can't just buy a far less costly seal, much less 2 or 3 of them; and considering that a new blender of this model is currently $48. The blender "worked" for three years, given the added costs of a replacement cutting assembly, and the added hassles to ever carefully tighten the jar and seal to minimize leakage, and always wiping up the leakage that still occurred. But I am done with this model, the leaky seal, the constant clean-up, and the ridiculous need to order the cutting blade assembly just to get a new seal. A different "quiet blender" I ordered should arrive tomorrow. I rarely review products, and I've never before reviewed one to this extent. I've lowered my rating back down to three stars, which right now feels a bit generous. ... show more
