My gf and I live in an old country home that was built in 1950 with no central heating or air made out of brick and the walls are lath and plaster so it can get quite hot inside during the summer. This house is a rental and it did come with an LG 14,000 BTU portable ac that was installed in our living room. With how hot it’s been in northern central California that portable ac just wasn’t cutting it. I ended up buying this Haier 14,000 BTU window ac to replace the portable one in our living room and man does this thing work great! The installation was simple and straightforward. I love how this unit can connect to wifi so I can keep the house at a comfortable temperature while we’re not home or out of town. It’s also really cool that the app monitors the power consumption. Having auto and eco mode is a great feature as well because the portable didn’t have either. This window unit is able to cool our 700sq ft living room in a matter of 20 minutes and will kick off automatically once the set temperature is reached. I’m honestly considering ditching our little 5,000 BTU window unit I put in our bedroom for a larger Haier unit so I can monitor tue temperature away from home in the app. Nonetheless, this Haier 14,000 BTU window unit works great and I would definitely recommend this to anyone needing to cool a large room ... show more

Best a/c unit I have ever owned. It's not loud but it's not the most quiet a/c that is out there. The compressor is very quiet and the fan makes the most noise. I never could get it to connect with the wifi app but it runs 24 hours a day and is not needed. The air flow is so good that there aren't any hot spots in the room. My electric bill has gone down a little since putting it in. I run my a/c at 68 all day and sleep at 67 degrees. The room is around 215 square feet with a 60 square foot restroom for a total of 275 square foot area space. The remote is very handy with the large buttons. I like how the display fades out after a minute so the room isn't lit up keeping you awake all night. Another good feature is if the power goes out the a/c is suppose to come back on where it was set when power is restored. ... show more

Not the quietest nor the most efficient but it's the only one narrow enough to fit in a sliding window. All of the others were too wide. My actual opening is 20 1/2". The instructions say a minimum of 23" but if you leave the wings off completely, you have a 19" box. I jammed in foam to fill gaps & installed a piece of plex to fill in the top. A chunk of plywood and styrofoam would be cheaper & better insulation but I wanted to retain the view. As far as cooling goes, 12000 btu is way too small for my 1000 sq ft. However this is as big as I can go on 120 volts. It does do the job though. We adjust it to 79 and let it blow on us directly. It stays within 1 degree cycling on & off. You'd think that it's burn itself out trying to cool the entire area but it's localized enough so that it doesn't. We use a fan to push some of the air around when we're in the other room. Saved us on the 100+ days. Remote works well but the display is hard to see across the room so you have to get up. Needed another beer anyway. ... show more

Cons: - Exercise extreme caution when handling the unit, as the edges are sharp and can cause injuries. I accidentally cut myself on my wrist in three places while trying to install it. - The noise level is higher than what was advertised. Despite being less than a year old, the AC has become unbearably noisy. - The warranty is not honored as promised. While it states that the unit will be replaced within one year for any issues, there are significant limitations. They only offer reimbursement if you purchase from a local store, excluding taxes and shipment costs, which ultimately leaves you with out-of-pocket expenses. Pros: - The unit performs adequately when it's functioning properly. It provides a decent Wi-Fi connection. However, the additional cost of $200 for a "more premium product" is not justified given the overall performance and issues experienced. Additional Comments: It's disappointing that a company of such scale and resources produces an unreliable product and expects customers to bear the financial burden. ... show more

I enjoy everything that it dos.. the size is perfect for my window. The quality and fit and finish is the BEST.. it is energy efficient and it blow cold air amazingly.. my electric bill did not go crazy like my other air conditioner.. I just have no words on how satisfied with everything about the HAIER..I recommended it to all my friends..I want to thank everyone who made my HAIER.. I'm going to keep this simple. I have a 60-year-old single wide mobile home that is not sealed the best. Furthermore, I also live in Florida, and it is currently the hottest month of the year 95 to 100 degrees daily. I wanted to stress test it just to see what it can do, so I opened every single door in the house and ran it for 24 hours at max on its own. This thing has cooled my house far better than anything I have ever owned, that includes when I once had a central ac system. Anyway I run 2 AC's this one at the front of the house and a Home Depot one in the back of the house, and that setup works wonderfully for me. All in all this thing is a beast, the only minor complaint is it is a bit noisy, but that is a small price to pay for the power this thing has. ... show more

My wife and I decided to buy another Haier A/C unit because the smaller one in our bedroom works so well,easy to clean and is rather quiet. That unit has a remote control also. The one you want to hear about,well this thing kicks out the cool air quietly! The digital display is large enough to see from anywhere in the room. Oh,if you want really cold air,you can easily have that too! Our house was built in 1900. No insulation to speak of and our living room has 8' 8" ceiling. This unit kicks out nice cold air. The remote is ergonomically designed; it fits comfortably in your hand. My wife has arthritis so it's nice to see that this company is thinking about these things.
