🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviews suggest that the RC Car has a considerable reputation for its robustness and durability, withstanding considerable wear and tear. The car boasts high-quality components such as a metal driveline, a standard size brushed motor, and lipo batteries, delivering a substantial performance according to users. However, a major drawback refers to the inefficient battery life and charging duration, followed by a slightly complex procedure of using the reverse function.

Pros

  • 🚗 High-quality components including a metal driveline, a standard size brushed motor, and lipo batteries.
  • 👌 Exceptional durability, able to withstand extensive wear and tear.
  • 👦 Suitable for all ages to learn how to drive RC cars.
  • 🎮 Comes with a controller, which has a normal and slow mode making it user-friendly.

Cons

  • 🔋 Battery life could be improved, as it lasts only for 15-35 minutes.
  • ⚡ Extended charging duration for the battery (as long as 3.5 hours for some users).
  • ⏪ The reverse function operation can be complex for some users.
  • 🎛️ The quality of the remote control could be better; specifically, some buttons are either sunken or barely above the surface.

Should I Buy It?

If you value durability and performance in an RC car and are willing to overlook the battery limitations and the complex reverse function, this product is a suitable choice. Its exceptional durability coupled with high-quality components provides an enjoyable and lasting experience, making it a worthwhile investment for many users.

  • Amazing value RC truck at this price!
I picked this up because I was tired of the slow and cheap RC cars my 7yo son had received over the years as gifts, and I wanted to show him what fun RC can truly be. I was impressed by how fast and durable it is. It’s great for jumps, sliding, and doughnuts, on gravel, dirt, street, or concrete. The two included batteries actually give a lot of drive time. I highly recommend this truck. I had to get another for myself immediately, so we could drive together. It’s a ready to ride set but almost everything is upgradable or replaceable. A couple of recommendations: while I absolutely recommend this truck at this price point, if you know you’re going to put a lot of use into this I recommend going for the next level up Haiboxing 1/18 truck with the brushless motor, primarily for the included upgrades. We upgraded our shocks to oil filled shocks so it would handle better on gravel, which was a noticeable improvement. The brushless motor model comes with oil shocks included. We also upgraded to the metal gears set, because the included plastic gears will wear out over time. Metal gears are included on the brushless motor model. Again, the shocks were optional per our preference, but the gears were a necessity. So if you know you’ll drive a lot, it’s recommended pay for the one step higher model and you’ll actually save money on these upgrades overall. If you’re unsure how much use you’ll put in, or will drive only occasionally, this is a perfectly great truck. (We drive for at least 1 full battery every day, for comparison.) One neat aspect is that it’s possible to upgrade every part until this truck is the same as the brushless motor model, so if you are invested in this truck, you could turn it into the upgraded model piece by piece if you like. ... show more

  • Fast Durable and Fun!
Very cool little car. I love the headlights and the individual suspension. Also, it comes with 2 batteries and easy to charge... you can charge while the battery is in the car and also separately. It's super fast for a tiny car and you can do donuts on the high speed. I've tested it on multiple terrains, and it performs well. ... show more

  • A tough, quick and fun truck for a great price.
The media could not be loaded. First impressions: Packaging is very nicely done where even having some damage to the outer shell probably wouldn’t affect the truck itself. After a couple of quick snips of zip ties, the truck is free along with the transmitter and paperwork. The truck itself gives a very nice impression. It looks like a hobby grade vehicle and not something that you’d buy from Target. I was happy to see a normal 9g servo up front and everything is ready to run. Drop a couple of batteries in the transmitter, charge up the battery in the truck and away you go. Going over the truck, I removed the body clips and shell and was happy to see a well designed suspension, steering linkage, and that the general layout of the components is well thought out. It looks completely serviceable and upgradable. After I went over the multi-language manual, I found the parts list and some basic exploded diagrams which gives someone with a little more knowledge the information they need to do more extensive rebuilds. Beginners might have to think about it a little more, but the information is there. One concern is the availability of parts, but after contacting BBM Hobby, they said they will stock the most likely to break parts on the Amazon site. The radio is a combination ESC and Rx in one. The battery is charged through the balance port on a USB charger. You’ll need a USB port either on a computer or phone charger, but this also means you can charge it in your truck at a park if you’re willing to wait the 1.5-2 hour charging time. I’d highly recommend buying a couple more batteries. The battery is a 2S lithium 700mah with a JST connector. You can find high capacity batteries which will give you longer run times online. I’m probably going to pick up something around 800maH or better. I just took it out for the first time and I had a blast with it. The truck went over the grass easily and handles rougher terrain without breaking a sweat. I even took it over a bit of a gravel pile that I had and the gearing made easy work of it. At first the speed of the truck is what I had expected of this kind of build, but I discovered an all important switch at the top of the transmitter labeled ‘Slow/Normal’. I flipped that switch from Slow to Normal and I had a whole new beast on my hands. The truck can move (Yah, I missed that on the manual)! The steering is responsive and the truck handles well on flat ground. I had to flip it a couple of times when I was racing around my backyard over uneven terrain, but I do believe that better shocks will improve the stability quite a bit. As for durability, for the most part, I see this as a solid rig that can withstand a LOT! The quality of its parts seems good and it’s taken a few tumbles already without any adverse affects. I haven’t “sent it” by any means yet but I’m looking for some nearby tracks since I’m new to this particular neighborhood. In the meantime, I’m letting it roll off my stairs and having fun letting my dogs chase it around. My overall impression is that this is a great starter truck for someone who doesn’t want a toy grade truck, but also doesn’t want to make the investment into a hobby grade truck. I give it 5 starts to be honest for the truck itself, but the lack of ALL the parts being available is something I’m hopeful the vendor will increase to benefit the popularity of this truck. You’ll definitely want to get more batteries so you’re spending more time racing rather than charging. I’d also recommend buying a good charger that works in the field as well as at home. Being able to maintain your batteries will extend the life of them greatly and a good charger can help. A few upgrades I’ll look into will be a brushless motor and ESC (I’ll have to replace the servo and reciever as well) metal drive shafts, and oil filled shocks. The latter two are available from the manufacturer. Here are some current links to the upgrades I mentioned; Metal drive shafts; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X6FR8MW?ref=myi_title_dp Oil filled shocks https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X5L2NP1?ref=myi_title_dp A tough, durable and fun truck for a great price. ... show more

  • Don't get it too wet
Battery initially took all day to charge. Drove it around the park in the grass and tennis courts for 1 charge cycle in slow mode and seemed to work well. Then took home to charge. I thought it odd that it only took about an hour to charge the second time. Took it to a dusty ball diamond and drove it on high speed kicking up lots of dust. It only lasted 10min. and the bottom of the car was hot when the battery died. It was about 85° outside. Took it home to clean & charge again. Because it is described as water proof, I briefly rinsed it off under the faucet with the body cover removed. After the battery was charged I plugged it back into the RC truck. The RC lights began flashing rapidly and the transmitter would not connect with the truck and it remained unresponsive. It does this with both batteries. Either the dust or the water killed it. Maybe it'll work when it's fully dried out tomorrow. I'll be returning it if it doesn't work tomorrow which is dissappointing as it is advertised as a robust RC vehicle. UPDATE: Turns out there must be a safety mechanism that senses moisture and won't let it run until it's completely dry. Worked fine the following day. My 4 year old is loving it! Pros: holding up and performing well, seems durable, great runtime on slow mode which is plenty fast for technical terrain and little kids. Cons: Haiboxing company is suspect. Their website is incomplete/non-functioning. I think getting parts and support might be a problem. I emailed them and have not received a reply in over a week. Time will tell. Overall feel it's a good starter RC value when bought on discount. I paid $66 ... show more
