Description

Guild’s most iconic electric guitar is now available to a whole new range of players. Expanding on the double cut body shape made famous by the Guild Starfire, the Starfire I DC features semi-hollow body construction utilizing a mahogany center block for reduced feedback and clear sustain. Retaining the airy, crisp tone you would expect from a semi-hollow body, The Cherry Starfire I DC features an elegantly arched mahogany top, back, and sides; while the Pelham Blue model features an elegantly arched maple top, back, and sides. The 24 3/4” scale length and modern thin “U“ neck profile provide a fast, smooth playing neck, while the 18th fret neck-to-body joint provides easy access to the upper register of the fretboard. Premium Guild Vintage 18 tuners with 18:1 gear ratio and Tune-o-matic bridge ensure the strings are accessible and in tune. Rich, vintage tone is injected by Guild’s own HB-2 Alnico II humbuckers, and the push-pull coil splitting feature allows for singing, single coil tones from either pickup. All of these features come standard on the Starfire I platform. Available in Cherry Red. For those looking for something a little extra, the Starfire I DC GVT comes equipped with Guild’s vibrato tailpiece featuring a roller tension bar for additional tonal versatility. Available in Pelham Blue.

  • Great Guitar
Color: Vintage Walnut Style: Single Cutaway
I've found this to be way more versatile and useful than I expected for use in recording situations. Love the pickups. They are also in the Surfliner HH series. Can't go wrong with this. Great quality from Guild.

  • First Mid-Range Guitar
Color: Cherry Red Style: Double Cutaway
Absolutely love this guitar. It's everything I could have wanted for a first guitar for myself. I've played bass for years and had guitars around, but never one of my own. The cherry finish is gorgeous, everything about this guitar is visually pleasing. The double binding, the headstock logo, I could go on and on about how it looks without even mentioning how well it plays. Which it does. You can play it without being plugged in and while it doesn't have a full acoustic sound by any means, it's certainly louder than any electric I've ever played. The sound from the pickups is amazing, I love being able to switch between series and parallel and soften the effects I'm using by just pulling the volume knob. The only issue I've noticed is a slight interference at times from the pickups not being fully shielded which I think is an easy enough fix, definitely not enough to warrant a 4-star rating. Overall, no regrets on this guitar. An absolute steal for the price and I haven't stopped getting compliments on it since I bought it. ... show more

  • Pleased with Purchase
Color: Pelham Blue Style: Double Cutaway
Beautiful Guitar, Plays wonderful. I gave it a once over when it Arrived. And the intonation was off. It was Easy to make the proper adjustments. The neck was true and needed no adjustment, Guild provides an allen wrench if you need too. No String buzz. No issues with the electronics, Pickups sound great. It needs a case, so I ordered one from Guild. It is wide at the bottom so get the Guild case. Guild should offer a Combination package With a case and a Strap . I don't like the placement of the front strap nut. Not a big issue, but I will be placing strap around head so not to interfere with hand placement on higher notes ... show more

  • A dream guitar at a great price
I made out like a bandit here. I bought a "used good" from Amazon Warehouse and essentially got a brand new guitar. If you are looking at their used options, absolutely do it. The guitar itself I thoroughly researched and is the best guitar you can get dollar for dollar. You are getting what would be a $1000 guitar from some of the more commercially known brands. I watched a few YouTube videos with headphones on to compare tones, and I preferred the tone on the Starfire I SC and DC to the P90 model and a number of other SC guitars out there. I was very attracted to the coil splitting and the quality of the Guild humbuckers. And, boy, they do NOT disappoint. In person on my Vox amp is even better. Buy the guitar. It's an easy choice. ... show more

  • This is a good guitar
I am no guitar expert but learning to play and beginning to take a keen interest in the tech and build aspects of the instrument. The extremely light weight of this guitar was quite surprising but it was well finished, came generally well set up and ready to play and it sounded good. I was forced by some personal changes to return it even though nothing was wrong with it. I felt that loss. It looked good, played good and sounded good. I only had a beef with the packaging for shipping. It was cheap and in my view, the instrument could have easily been damaged in transit. I plan on buying it again when things work out. ... show more

  • Great playing guitar right out of the box.
Color: Emerald Green Style: Double Cutaway
the guitar came double boxes. Guild's nice shipping box designed for snug support and another box on the outside to give it extra protection. I took my time unboxing. Did not want to mess it up by rushing things. Let it climatize before tuning and playing. surprised that it was already in playing condition. The action was already very good. The sound was very nice and clean. I like the single coil pull/push volume controls. I actually did not know that it had that additional feature. I bought this instead of a Gretsch. I liked the price and reviews seemed very good. no regrets. Great purchase! ... show more

  • Almost a good guitar
Color: Vintage Walnut Style: Double Cutaway
The guitar appears well constructed and sounds good. The setup was good. The output socket for the Jack is loose and turns when I tried to tighten it. Should have used a mounting plate. Tuners are vintage and must be replaced.

  • What a joy to play!
Color: Pelham Blue Style: Double Cutaway
I am getting back to playing guitar after a 25 year stretch. I have always wanted to learn how to play Chicago Blues style on a 335 Gibson; but never could afford one. So I tried several 335 copies, but none felt or sounded right. And there was always some compromise like fret buzz or tuner problem of some sort or other. When I first got the Starfire I all that was needed was a little tuning and it was good to go. No set up needed. The action was right on. It stays in tune even with quite a bit of vibrato bar. I have been playing the Starfire I for about three month now and love it. While It doesn’t have quite the sound of a Gibson 335; that is ok by me. The Starfire has its own brighter, chimey voice while still maintaining the deep rounded punchy attack of a semi hollow body. Guild like Fender and Gibson has that same long legacy but is lesser known which is good for people like me who was looking for the same quality but not the inflated price. I recommend ... show more
