These plates and bowls are so nice ( 4 of each). They are heavy ( not TOO heavy) and very classy. I am immediately ordering another set. I am obsessed with dishes and have many; I am just loving this all black set. I also really appreciate the simplicity of the order- just plates and bowls. I chose this glossy white plate set because I prefer a simple design. The set arrived well packed and each piece was flawless. The design and weight give the set a quiet elegance. Pros: The dishes are a generous 10-1/2" wide. For reference, this allows me to plate a protein, starch, salad or 2 veg and condiment cups without anything touching. The design is ideal for creative plating and doesn't compete with serving dishes, flatware, or glassware. The plates have a lip right at the edge that make them easy to carry. They do not have the traditional rim that downsizes the usable area. Easy cleanup, even if washing by hand. Excellent weight (plates are 30 oz, bowls 17 oz) Heavier than Corelle, same as my Pfaltzgraff plates. Bowls are a full 2-1/2" deep. The design of both the bowls and plates nests together securely on a cabinet shelf and requires less vertical space than my other dishes. I like that this set contained my most used pieces, large dinner plates and big bowls. Cons: The plate is shaped almost exactly like a frisbee, a comment a couple of guests have made at this point. Overall these are an excellent choice if you enjoy a modern aesthetic. The plates and bowls are both high quality and coordinate well with other simple white dishes I already own. ... show more

This is a nice "mini" set that's a mix between contemporary and classic in a solid matte black that doesn't look cheap or tacky. Having them dishwasher and microwave-friendly is also a basic requirement that all plates should have (at least the everyday ones which these plates are going to be.) Speaking of these plates, I love that they have a bit of a "lip" at the end but not so much that it looks like a bowl. The bowls are nicely made and there aren't any imperfections at all. I'm calling this a mini set because I was hoping there was an option to select either a plates and bowls option (this set) or a dinner plates, dessert plates, and bowls option. Anyway, we'll see how long this holds up to daily use. The descriptions on Amazon also state that these have the potential to show silverware marks/residue (we haven't had that issue yet), but we'll figure out how to clean it, should that happen. ... show more

This is a very nice set of bowls and plates. Before this, I had a basic set that I'd bought from Ikea. I like that these dishes have a bit of weight and thickness to them. I also like that the edge of the plates curl upwards just a bit to help prevent food from sliding off. Some ceramic plates seem to get overly hot when they are used to heat food in the microwave... perhaps because of the glaze or type of clay used. I got the ones with the matte black finish. These stay moderately cool when heating something up. Not the coolest to the touch, but also not way too hot like some plates and bowls. ... show more
