I purchased this for a backpacking trip in the PNW. I can’t say enough great things about this product. Very waterproof and packs down small. Tons of tie spots to manipulate it for any shape of shelter. Came with some nice line and stakes. Only issue I could see was that it doesn’t bead off water well. It Works well for a shelter and kept everything dry underneath, but when I went to pack up I struggled getting the water off, so packing it back up it was pretty much stuffed wet into the stuff sack. I say this because if it’s not neatly folded and dried it’s kind of heavy and awkward. Other than that great price and great product. ... show more

I ordered the 12ft x 10ft HEX to cover a single hammock strung between trees. I ordered one I knew to be a bit big to ensure I stayed dry. This thing is enormous though. Strung between a variety of selected trees, the tarp was too long to stretch out in the direction of the tree straps (length). Even then, the opposite direction (width) couldn't be pulled out without hitting other trees. Maybe it was just the dense Maine woods, but I could not find a location open enough to use this. Also, it comes with NO printed instructions. I called and was referred to a video but had no way of viewing it while in the woods. I was also told to undo some of the included line/tensioners to be able to use as a ridgeline. The tarp has attachment points running along the length and in many directions; versatile but confusingly so. I thought it would have been nice if the ridgeline was somehow marked on the tarp. Maybe in a future product update - perhaps a color tab sewn at the ridgeline ends.... Conclusion - if you need a BIG tarp that supports multiple ways of configuring it - this might be for you. Make sure you have a big enough clearing to use this. I have nothing bad to say about this product other than it was too big for my use and could have used at least a small card of printed instructions. ... show more

I bought one of these tarps a few years ago. Absolutely love it and highly recommend it! Everything you need is included to make multiple types of tarp structures or to simply have it above your hammock. Trust me you cannot go wrong with this product.

This was my first experience hammock camping, but I love this tarp! It was huge! It took me a bit to figure it out (first time setting up a hammock/tarp for sleep). The extra tie downs made it really roomy inside. I left the bottom grommets unhooked the first night. The second evening there was rain and we had a cabin to go into for the storm, so I cinched up the ends. The bottom I hooked together with some spare carabiniers in case the wind picked up a little, making a cocoon. Nothing was wet and it only took a minute to unhook. I did stake the bottom on the second night. Speaking of staking, the stakes on this are awesome too! I'm looking forward to ordering more items through gold armour. My next purchase will likely be a bug net. ... show more

    • Heavy but fine
I'm primarily a lomg distance hiker/backpacker and I dont think this tarp is going to work well for that. I believe it would work well for car camping though. The tarp itself is fine. Stitching seems well done. It's not seam sealed, but I didn't expect it to be. My issues: The tarp is heavier than I'd like, and tie out points are cheap. I don't think they'll last long in a backpack getting knocked around. Plan to replace the line it comes with too. It's very low quality rope that has wayyy too much stretch to it. The tensioners are also awful. They slip constantly. And i wouldnt trust the line system in any kind of wind. The stakes seems fine. No issues with them so far. I have a feeling this is going to end up as a summer sun shade for my back yard. ... show more
