I recently used this hammock tarp on a camping trip, and here are my thoughts on its performance. **Pros:** - **Rain Protection:** This tarp works great at keeping the rain off, effectively shielding the hammock from getting wet during rainy weather. - **Ridge Line:** It makes for a great ridge line, providing a solid structure above the hammock. **Cons:** - **Wind Protection:** I initially thought it would provide more cover from the wind, but the tapered edges don't do much to block the wind effectively. - **Size and Setup:** The size of the tarp does not allow for the hammock to be placed high enough without being too close to the ground. This also results in significant gaps from stake to fly, which can be problematic. - **Sagging:** While it serves well as a ridge line, it would be better if the paracord extended the entire length of the product, as it tends to sag in the middle when pulled tight. - **Cordage Issues:** The cordage was tied so tightly that it took a considerable amount of time to untie it six times during the initial setup. I had to re-tie the paracord to allow for quicker untying, which improved the setup time significantly. The media could not be loaded. Used this on a car camping trip to protect my cooking, eating, and hang out area. Worked very well in several thunderstorms with strong wind gusts. Kept my gear and myself dry and happy. The material is heavy duty, strong and water proof. It comes with 6 lines pre attached and 4 “ground hog” like aluminum stakes. Everything needed to set up for hammock camping or as in my case a kitchen hang out shelter. It does not require a ridge line as it has a reinforced sealed center seam. It has reinforced corners with loops that allowed me to use branches as poles. Each tie point has an adjustable line clamp that gives you the option to tighten up the tarp. I used taught line hitches for my adjustability, but tried the clamps also that worked well. A little on the heavy side and lacking more tie points as compared to premium tarps if taking backpacking, but I would say the heavy duty rip stop fabric gave me confidence in it holding up to strong winds. The hammock tarp is great quality, and easy to setup. The corners of the tarp are adjustable to pull the lines tight even if you tie it loosely. It did rain in the morning and kept my son dry. No leeks what so ever. It dried fast when the sun came out and was easy to fold and put back into the bag it came with. No complaints what so ever. I've got a hammock in the yard, and lately it's been raining a lot so I got this rain fly. It fits nicely over the hammock, and long enough to not let any rain hit me. The loops where the tension ropes are attached is well make, and does not look like it would rip easily. Light weight. Only thing I am swapping out are the ropes, with some neon yellow paracord. Just kept tripping over them. Happy with the purchase, going to order 2 more for the kids hammock setup. ... show more
