The media could not be loaded. I moved into a 1 bedroom 2 bath multilevel loft, 1500 square feet, with no windows that open to allow fresh air. They originally had planned for retail on the first 2 floors of the building. However the housing market crashed in 2009 when they were finally ready to sell the units as luxury condos. They in turn had to renovate the first 2 floors to units, sans a balcony or windows that open unfortunately. Here’s the need for an air purifier. It can get stuffy, stale, or downright smelly in my apartment thanks to cooking, trash, 3 cats, and so on. The fan noise you hear in the background of the video is not the unit in the video. I have another germ guardian air purifier in my second bathroom along with the litter box. That one is actually for a 1700 square foot space. I should have paid closer attention. I ended up getting the rolls royce for the first purifier, but for a good price at the time compared to what it costs now full price. The unit in the video is actually set to low and it is quiet as a mouse! I actually go up to it and listen to see if it’s still running since it’s low at the moment. This unit has definitely added to cleaner air quality in my apartment and I really enjoy and appreciate these products by germ guardian. I have not used the sleep mode since I keep this unit downstairs along with the other one. I still hear the one in the bathroom anyways since it’s so powerful on high (current setting). It’s pretty much a white noise to me and does not bother me as it’s not in my bedroom space upstairs. I also use this one when I’m cooking in the kitchen which is connected to the bathroom and it cleans up that heavy smell of whatever you have cooked, keeping it from lingering forever. Love this air purifier! The very first day we noticed a “fresher” smell in our camper. I love the night mode and that it gives you an option to turn the UV light on at night or off. Night mode is very quiet, I can’t even hardly tell it’s on! I like that the uv light can be turned on and off and the auto function is awesome as well. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more

Had this for a year, in bedroom, that’s about 200 s.f. It works great. I leave on auto setting. When I first plugged in, it went to red (sensor), running fan on high, then to orange, and now green. That is how I knew it was filtering. Rarely goes above green now, so operates very quietly/efficiently. Easy to change filters and UV bulb. I bought extra filters/bulbs, so when one is being cleaned, the other is in unit (unit alerts to cleaning). There is a pre-filter wrap, which I just throw away (not worth cleaning, just replace). This moves quite a lot of air on max setting, so I have no doubts in its performance. Value wise, I got it on sale for right about $90 which is far cheaper than any other recognizable brand that covers the same sq. Ft. There was a slight plastic smell when I first turned it on, but it became unnoticeable within thirty minutes. I like that the filter is a cylinder so draws air in 360 deg maximizing the filtration for the foot print. That’s why it’s so much smaller than equivalent units that only draw air from the front. It performs very well so far. Sleep mode is so quiet I wasn’t sure it was on from 3ft away. The smaller size lends to versatile placement - you can position it on a bookshelf, under a side table, etc. The only reason I knocked a star is due to the UVC light. You can see the light if you look down into it from the top, and UVC light is bad for your eyes. Make sure it’s placed to the tallest persons eye level, or under something like a table so no one looks down into it with the UV lamp running. ... show more

I love this air feels so much fresher and clean .I have mold allergy and it helps me breath so much better .I was cooking and it got smokey and it turned red and went to high mode on its own and helped get rid of smoke I was amazed.its very easy to use. UPDATE AT END It's a fan with an integrated air filter. Nothing more. And, when it's time to change the filter, it's not like you can just wrap a frame with some cheesecloth and make your own. It doesn't change the smell of the air in the room and it can't possibly remove pet hair unless the hair actually comes within a few inches of the air intake (it's not magic: it's simple physics). It simply isn't worth the price, seeing what it is and does. But the wife is easily swayed by advertising rhetoric, so we had to have one, and this made a fair birthday present that made her happy. For the record, its capacity is only slightly smaller than the size of our house, and we're only using it in the one largest room which is about a sixth of that, tops, so if it did anything at all other than make noise we should be able to tell. I still have allergies and the allergens are definitely still there, as is the odor from the cat's litter pan. In this reviewer's opinion, devices of this genre are snake oil and the people who claim to breathe better with them are actually experiencing a placebo effect and certainly have no scientific data from which to make empirical conclusions. UPDATE: We've had this running on "auto" mode for about five weeks now and already the fan is making a noise like the bearing is failing. Perhaps there's a way to lubricate it but seeing that we have fans around the house that are over a decade old (a couple from the eighties, even) that have lasted this long without making this bearing noise, there is no excuse for something that simply is a spinning motor with essentially zero load to fail this early in its life. There should be no need to maintain a simple fan motor like this one periodically. Loses a star for increased price:longevity ratio. UPDATE 2: 2024 June 16 The fan has completely stopped. It is not seized: I can rotate the unit and watch inertia rotate the fan ten or twenty degrees of spin; however, even disassembling to clean the filter (which barely had any dust on it) and resetting the filter (the light was green before I opened it) still does not make the fan spin. The UV light, for whatever such a low wattage bulb can do to air flying by it for so short a time, does still illuminate but there's not making the fan spin on any setting. Unit is dead, not worth the price, do not buy! We've used it no more than ten, maybe eleven weeks! Lost the last star it could lose. ... show more
