  • Perfect for my needs
Was worried that this would be spindly or flimsy, but it wasn't. VERY sturdy and stable. REALLY like the camera mount and adjustable head. Small enough to fit in a carry-on and stable enough to be trustworthy.. I'd buy another one if I needed it.

  • Great for the Price
Ive purchased several other cheap tripods over the years, both from Amazon and brick and mortar stores. This tripod is fantastic for the price for the novice to semi-pro. The weight of the tripod is 2.76 lbs including the ball head. The ball head weighs in at .51 lbs, and is removable. The whole set with bag and mono-pod screw is about 3.2 lbs. I would not say this is a lightweight tripod, however, if you spread the weight out over two backpacks it is acceptable. Very sturdy for this price. It is only at the maximum height extension that there will be any significant camera shake. Otherwise, it is pretty solid. It does have the built in hook for weighing it down some and reducing shake. The ball head is good for this price point. You can remove it and install something else if you want. Its not as good as my Zomei Q666 ball head, as that model has an additional adjustment knob for pitch/roll. The A24 only uses one knob for pitch and roll. However, it locks down pretty good. Where the second knob is missed is when you dont want it locked down but rather to have smooth movement. Other than that, I find that the yaw movement is smooth and overall this is a good ball head. The included bag is much better than other bags I have gotten with other price point tripods. It feels and looks like quality. I really dont care about the mono-pod feature, but it is there should i want it in the future. It does take a couple minutes to set that up and you it is awkward to have to bring a loose bolt/nut for this purpose. For hiking, I cannot afford the weight of the bag in my backpack, so that bolt will eventually just get lost. The bubble level and other leveling measures on this tripod are pretty much useless. This is where the pro's will be disappointed the most with this tripod. It is rather difficult to level this tripod, so things like panorama's are hit or miss. Overall, for this price this is a great tripod. It will not compare to $300 plus tripods, so go ahead and put that out of your mind now. This will compete with your "budget" brand name tripods that are usually in that $100-$150 price range. This particular model is not the lightest, or has the most features, or most included accessories, etc. There are at least a couple of similar design and height that weight less. They are also more expensive, and the weight savings it a quarter pound at the most. Thats just not enough to make the difference for me. More features, more money. More included accessories, more money. For this price, this is a solid deal for a tripod with this much sturdiness and lessor weight. I wish they made this tripod in a 52-55 inch size with a weight of about 2.0 lbs. I really dont think its a matter of switching to carbon fiber for the tube stock. I think this is just asking too much. ... show more

  • Great Value for the Money!
This review is for the Geekoto 58” Ultra Compact and Lightweight Aluminum Tripod. When I ordered this tripod, I honestly was not sure what I would get for such a low price. Honestly, I was surprised. I've only had it for a few days, but so far it's done everything I've needed it to, without any issues. First let me tell you about the tripod... The tripod legs are aluminum construction. The rubber feet seem like they are glued on and do not budge. The legs extend with the pull handles, not screw style. There is a center extension column that extended two sections, which are screw-style for release. The ball head seems to be aluminum outer construction, with the rest being some sort of plastic. The orca-swiss style mounting plate is plastic as well, and has a screw on clamp style to hold the base plate on. The base plate is also plastic (yet I did not use it at all during the review, as I have an L bracket on my camera). The ball head also has a panning mode, so you can lock the ball and pan it around. There are also two levels on it, yet I did not use them. It comes in a really nice carrying case, which allows for easy removal (compared to some other tripod bags I've seen which are a pain) and shockingly comes with a nice felt-ish cover for the ball head while it is packed away! One of the legs also detaches, to be used as a monopod, with the included stud, which then has the ball head assembly screw on to it. It also has a nice carrying strap to carry it around when outside of the case. Lastly, it also has a hanging hook off of the center section, so you can hang your camera bag or some weight to weigh it down, if you'd like. I first tested it out inside my house, with my pretty heavy and off balance at full zoom, Tamron 18-400 lens. I was able to test it out, at 400mm full extension, aiming slightly downward, with a 30 second exposure, and there was no motion blur. The tripod held it perfectly. I also included two pictures taken with the tripod to show long exposures. The first is a 30 second long exposure of moving water (to blur the moving water) using the tripod, and the second was a ~18 second long exposure of light rays during sunset using the tripod. Overall, this is an excellent value tripod for anyone trying to do long exposure and landscape photography, or if you wanted a light and compact to travel around with on vacations. I hope this review helped you out! ... show more

  • A decent travel tripod for a good price
I wanted to love this when I got it. It's good, but not great. There are a few little things that kept me from giving it 5 stars. My big criteria for this tripod was focused on something for Travel. I was taking a trip up to Acadia National Park and wanted to be prepared to take some spectacular shots and some video. I wanted something light that would fit into my backpack without making it weigh a ton. The tripod does good on the size front as well as the weight front. It feels pretty solid when you set it up and you can adjust it pretty quickly. I didn't like the ball head too much. it feels a bit cheap to me primarily because of the plastic quick release. I don't really mind the plastic ball. I have worked with a lot of drum hardware with plastic balls and they hold up fine for the most part. I think the plastic for the quick locks feels a little suspect as well although I had not problems working with it in the field. The last thing is a bit of a questionable point. I felt like it wasn't stable when I tried to do some long exposure night shots. I say its questionable because there may have been other contributing factors. At this price point I think this tripod is a good deal, and it fit most of my travel needs pretty well. We'll see how it holds up long term, but right now I don't see me being able to travel much more this year. I would recommend this to a friend but I would let them know about my misgivings first. ... show more
