  • Works Great After Figuring It Out
Style: Thermostat
I'm experienced at wiring things, but following the manual that came with this only served in getting me to wire it every which way but the right way. It wasn't until I visited the Cync web page that I finally got the right diagram for a 5 wire thermostat cable. I didn't need the included wiring converter, I only have heating, no AC. The wiring shown on the website made a whole lot more sense than what was included in the manual. I wasted over an hour before I relented and looked up more info in the site. Once I found the proper diagram, I had the thing working in under 15 minutes. I would have saved a whole lot of my evening had I just done this in the first place instead of trusting the manual. You have to bluetooth your phone into it to get the wifi turned on and password entered, once the wifi is enabled and logged in, then you are prompted to use the full phone app to set up your schedule. Your schedule consists of four run periods during the course of the day for each day of the week, So you can set up the threshold times when you want it to start cooling down or heating up and just how long to run before changing modes or temps. You must go through the four periods of each day, setting up the temps. If you want them to stay the same all day, then you'll have to set up the next period in the Cync to run at the same temperature for the remaining time in that period until the next one. The times can start and stop whenever you want, but there must be four run periods throughout the day. For the first couple of days the temp seemed to feel cooler than the old thermostat did, and my room thermometers confirmed this, so I went back into the program and bumped up the temp by one degree on each of them to get closer to my old programmable thermostat behavior. My old one had a very hard to read display and no wifi ability or app. The Cync is easy to read, much better looking and I can change the temp temporarily by just picking up my phone and using the app to bump up the temp a pinch, or even turn it down if I overshoot. It will show me how long the new temperature will run to when the next program change is supposed to happen. It's very convenient, and it's super easy to edit your program for a different behavior, say weekends could be set for lower temps while you're away. If you change your mind, it's easy to edit the program, unlike my older menu driven unit. The Cync does all the scheduling from the app, no squinting or need for magnifiers to see what you are doing on a tiny LCD screen. The Cync app is big and easy to read and allows you to customize and name the zones of your house if you are using more than one. I recommend it for someone who has a hard time getting up out of their chair, has a bad knee, feet or arthritis. My understanding is other Cync GE products work similarly. So I may eventually try them out as I see a need. I'm now glad I made the purchase, it's been a couple of months and so far there's been no problem with the unit. If you have a basic understanding of how thermostats and signaling in furnace and AC systems works, you'll be able to get this running just like any other thermostat on the market, it's not tough once you have the right info from the website. The wiring diagrams inside the manual are tiny and aren't necessarily right for your wiring, so just save yourself some time and look up what you need to do on the website first. ... show more

  • Excellent with a few quirks.
Style: Thermostat
These thermostats are good, and work more reliably than the Honeywell I used to own. The install is easy from a hardware standpoint. The Cync app definitely needs work, but it’s gotten a lot better in the past few months with updates. UPDATE YOUR APPS!!! If it doesn’t connect the thermostat to the network, cycle your Bluetooth connection off and back on and it’ll work the second time around. Really stupid bug they need to fix, but it does the trick on most Cync devices that won’t add the network. ... show more

  • Used & Inoperable
Style: Thermostat
I purchased this thermostat to replace an older model Nest. It was to be delivered in two days with Amazon Prime shipping…however, it took over two weeks to arrive. The package did not come from Amazon but a third-party vendor. The thermostat box was not sealed and was dented, obviously used and abused. The contents of the box were not in secured packaging either. The thermostat was installed by a professional technician and did not work at all. Very rarely am I disappointed with Amazon purchases but this one ranks at the top of my “DON’T DO IT” list! ... show more

  • Instalación del termostato
Style: Thermostat
Mi técnico de AC instaló el termostato en mi casa y no he podido usar la app porque me pide el modo como se instalaron los cables y eso yo no sé. Creo que se podrían hacer apps más fáciles de programar.

  • Best Smart thermostat for a garage/shop --- sub 40 degree settings
Style: Thermostat
Really surprised by the limited amount of smart thermostats that can work in an area not normally a living space. I am in Idaho and have a shop and vehicle building (2 separate spaces) that I wanted to be able remotely warm and/or maintain at or above freezing. Several thermostat have a minimum setting of 50 degrees - keeping these occasional use buildings at 50 degrees or letting them go well below freezing was a problem. All of the thermostats I've tested are easy to install. This unit supports setting the temp to 40 and then have a temperature threshold setting that can be set up to 15 degrees lower. The way I understand this (and how it is currently functioning) is I have my threshold set to -5 which means the furnace doesn't come on until the temperature is 35 degrees (and could be as low as 25 degrees). This is working well for me. I don't have any issues with wifi coverage as the shop building is connected using a couple of nanobeams. I have exceptional wifi in the shop so I can't speak to the distance they can operate over. ... show more

  • Nice addition to decor
Style: Thermostat
This product is sleek and attractive. Looks well in the home. I like you can use or not the back plate . Easy to install. Faster than directions indicate. Of course that depends on the wiring that exists. Worked just fine with my set up and the phone app makes it so much better,

  • WARNING: Adding the device to the App requires dismantling the thermostat. ??!??
Style: Thermostat
Product is pretty, but app often loses connection and control giving false status. The "adaptor" did not work and I had to run new 4 wire cable. Really dumb App setup requires removing thermostat and verifying connections even if it is connected and running manually. Why do I need to take the thing apart? Again. I am not impressed. I cannot get it to run schedules from app and it is not possible to enter schedules from the thermostat ????? Really poor design. It is impossible select a schedule from the thermostat. Almost unusable without the app which won't work without taking the thing apart. I expected better from GE. ... show more

  • Nice addition
Style: Sensor
I added these to my upstairs setup in hopes of getting better AC control. They were really easy to set up with the Cync app (which hasn't always been the case with other Cync products). I'm not sure how much these will improve my AC system, but it is nice getting temperature readings from other rooms. Overall, I'm happy with these. ... show more
