    This cover should be considered when buying a Tonneau cover for your truck. I wanted a Tonneau cover for my new F-150, having previously purchased a BAKFlip from Bakindustries for my son's F-150. I was again going to purchase a BAKFlip. However, my new F-150 had an automatic tailgate, and I didn't want to mess around raising the cover before closing the tailgate. Following some research, I opted for the Gator EFX Hard Tri-Fold Truck Bed Tonneau Cover, and it's an advantage for me because I could open and close the tailgate without lifting the bed cover. A bonus was that it was more cost-effective than the BAKflip. It took about an hr to fit, taking my time to ensure a good, snug fit. Looks fantastic, and the quality is great. Installation was straightforward, as the included instructions were perfect. The only area where the BAKFlip has this particular model beaten is that you can fold back all 3 panels; with the Gator EFX, the third panel is fixed. I don't intend to use the bed for tall large items, so this wasn't a major problem. The panel is very lightweight, making both opening and closing super easy for my wife, and during those occasions that I may want to transport larger items - removing the cover in its totality will be easy. The only area that I can't give feedback on yet is waterproofing. However, the supplied fixing strip and drain tubes shows consideration from Gator regarding this. Having ensured that daylight can't be seen during installation - I'm highly confident that this won't be an issue. I'll update you as and when.     Okay fellas, I know many of you are, as you read this review, prolly already have several various Tonneau covers saved in your cart, and have watched about 20 YouTube video's titled: "The best Tanneau cover for (insert year)". I was originally going to pop $1400+ on a retractable cover, made by a brand name manufacturer, but I just couldn't get over the cost for what I was really looking for. I'm not a contractor, so heavy duty & security was not a major priority. I was; however, looking for great aesthetics for my truck, as well as basic security for stored items in the bed. I also wanted a cover that could easily allow access to the entire bed if needed and was easy to place back in its secure position. Well, this Gator cover is perfect for my needs, and as you can see in the photos, it looks great. I was amazed by the ease of install and the overall quality of the cover and hardware. I did it by myself which took all of around 35 minutes to complete. Tip: unpack and lay everything in the bed with you and do not place anything on the tailgate as you will need to shut it while you tighten brackets. Then there is this: Read the instructions before you start. I know some of you, like me, can handle Ikea instructions like a Boss, but just do it and save yourself a hassle. Trust me, it's a straight forward instal with only two sockets. All in all it was a great buy and I'm very happy with the purchase of this cover over a more expensive option.     I waited 2+ months before writing this review. Overall, I am very happy with this cover. It was my first install (took me about 45 minutes). I have always owned hard tonneau covers installed by a 3rd party for previous trucks, but never used them often enough to justify the 1+k price tag, so I thought I would save some money and go this route. I am glad I did. It's super quiet and living in Florida it has seen a lot of rain storms while driving. While it may not be 100% waterproof, the water that does enter the bed is more of a mist in a few areas (mainly corners). Since it is such a small amount, it evaporates on its own and has done an amazing job of keeping boxes dry. I do park in a garage, so it will get less wear and tear from the elements. Very easy to roll-up and down along with closing. If you are looking for a simple, durable, low profile and cost effective cover, I would recommend this Gator! ... show more

    The good is that it’s fairly light as compared to other bed covers I’ve owned in the past. Secondly, the install was simple-which I did on my own. Thirdly, it looks really good and sits flush to truck. The bad is that the rails that hold the cover in place are made of plastic which flex downward when being tightened down; making the cover hard to close. Overall, it fits pretty good and looks great.       • A Good Cover for the Money

    It's light enough that folding the panels is easy to do. I run my truck thru an automatic car wash fairly often and the only water intrusion is around the tail gate but not enough to be a concern. It doesn't fold up against the cab if you need the full bed but it can be removed fairly easily. Quality has not been issue and I think it will last as long as I usually keep a truck. ... show more

    Easy to install with a little bit of thinking. Keeps things mostly dry, unless you are power washing at an angle, on the seam. Lays nice a flat to the sides of the truck bed. Pull cords to release locks could have a little better security plate from the tailgate side. If you got a wire hanger you could easily open the latches. The rigid panels seem strong and don't buckle in the wind like other brands or types. Price is half of the competitive brand, but keep in mind that this cover will not fully fold up to the cab, unlike the Bakflip. You can open up about 70% of the bed space without having to unscrew the main mounting brackets. Was able to get about a 5% increase in fuel economy with having the wind drag. Overall, I have been very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone. ... show more
