Like - fit, ease of installation, keeps out almost all water even while driving through heavy rain, and looks good too. Dislike - someone pretty strong can just rip it off the truck bed- 6 small plastic clips keep it in and I would guess anyone who can deadlift 400+ could just pry the cover off with their hands. The factory installed one went bad at about the 4 year mark - warped, filled with water and deteriorated. This one is designed the same way. It’s easy to install especially when you are replacing one and know what to do. The panels fit nicely and are very lightweight and easy to flip. It has a buckle feature with straps under the panels so that you can secure it when all panels are up. The exterior buckle isn’t that attractive but it’s necessary. Function better than looks in this case. The drain tubes they provide are a bit flimsy and they only have them for the front. My old one had front and rear. I was able to work them into the existing tubes easily. I was able to use the “old” tube holder for the back since it slid into the new track. It’s not as water tight as I would like which is why I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise it’s good. Let’s see if it lasts longer than the original one. At about the same price I hope so. ... show more

The cover is easy to install, goods great, and seems solid. I do not find it water tight. I’m not sure it a problem with the cover or my installation.

So, the install takes much longer than expected, and the final product is..... questionable. We purchased in October 2020 and just installed over the holidays. We were expecting a more durable product, a more reliable customer service, and a more seamless installation. Assembly: When assembling, be very careful to not tighten the cheap, crappy, plastic white screws that come with the product (that are used to fasten the siderails to the edge of the truck) as much as you feel you might want to tighten them (to get a more secure attachment of the rails to your truck bed). If you tighten a hair too much, the screws will strip out, and then good luck getting replacement screws. The don't sell them at Home Depot, Lowes, and they aren't covered under the manufacturer's warranty, and we when attempted chatting the online person told us to "call sales" which has a 2 hour wait time on the phone. Incredibly infuriating and frustrating is an understatement. The company must have taken a turn for the worst over recent months, because it seemed they used to provide decent customer service. Suffice to say: This is our first Gator Cover, and our Last Gator Cover. Seals: the side seals are great, and the seal is very good around the front of the bed (near the cab of the truck). It seems very water-tight. The seal at the back of the truck bed is worthless though - rain, water, snow- there's at least 2mm of gap in between the back of our bed cover and the tailgate. Of course if you're parked on an incline, all the water and precipitation that leaks in will seep into the back of your truck. Customer Service: As described above, it seems Gator has taken a turn for the worst. Perhaps they have too many issues with post-Christmas installs and returns, but our experience is downright horrible. The phone call says a 2-hour wait. The online representative (through their website chat function) was disrespectful and the opposite of helpful. ... show more

Cover came in a few days and in perfect condition. Install took 2 hours for me, I’m moderately handy. Functions perfectly and looks great. I wouldn’t stand on the cover, but it feels hard/heavy and certainly seems like it could hold up to heavy snow. Locking mechanisms work great and the cover feels securely locked i to place. I skipped the middle stop point and opted for only being fully opened or fully closed. I like that they gave you this option. I just received it and installed it today but, as someone who was nervous about getting the ‘cheapest’ retractable hard bed cover, so far so good! And I think it looks great as well! ... show more

Just installed the Gator FX Quad. It looks good; install was okay, alignment was a bit tricky due to the weight of the cover, but once aligned correctly it was pretty straight forward. I did watch the Gator YouTube video for installing this and followed the included instruction as well. The overall look of the cover is spot on; looks as expected and appears to be of decent quality. But... the pull cable is too loose and started to fray immediately during install. The plastic coating took all of two pulls of the cable to come off. The last section on mine would not open after getting it to close. There was a metal lip getting caught so I had to jump on the tailgate to open from the top angle. Then I checked to see if it was installed square and maybe needed some adjustments to one side, but every other latch worked fine besides the left side on the last section nearest to the tailgate. I have reached out to Gator for customer support on this issue, because the pull cable already looks like it is 10 years old and I just installed it 10 mins ago. Please note the sections are heavy once you fold to the third section so be careful, I can see some accidents happening with these, but on the plus side it's heavy duty should hold up and looks really nice once all installed. ... show more
