This only took a few minutes to assemble. No tools were required. It came with 4 small bags of lava rocks. They were marked as to which ones to dump in first. Presumably, based on their size. However, mine were all the same. Didn’t seem to make any difference. I connected it to a propane tank, and turned on the gas. The valve on the fire pit is easy to operate, but took two hands to hold the fire pit while pressing and turning the dial. It immediately ignited, and produced a nice flame. The two pictures show the lowest and highest settings. There is an audible hiss, but isn’t overly distracting. The lid and carry strap work okay. But if tipped, the lava rock can fall out the side holes. It really should have included a travel bag. For this reason, I’m deducting one star. This will be great on our pool deck with the cooler nights. It will also be taken with us when we travel in our motorhome. ... show more

~~Pros~~ + This generates a huge amount of heat. + It auto-lights with the push of a button. + From low to high is a pretty good difference in flame height. + We roasted hotdogs and marshmallows using this. + We had a group of 8 people sitting around this and feeling the heat. + It comes with a lid and straps to carry it with. + Setting this up is easy and quick. It comes with everything you need but propane. ~~Cons~~ - It is portable but it’s kinda awkward because the lid was bending on us when we attached the carry strap. ----- Diamond's Star Rating System (What do my star ratings mean?): 1 STAR - Completely unusable, would request a refund 2 STAR - Meets minimum viable product requirements, wouldn't purchase it again 3 STAR - It does what it should, but in a non-spectacular way, I may recommend it, but definitely with reservations 4 STAR - I like it. It is solid quality and delivers as advertised, I would purchase it again and recommend it to a friend 5 STAR - I love it. This propane fire pit is decently constructed and has performed as expected. As fire pits go, the upside to this is that it is ridiculously easy to set up and use. The downside is that you've got a black plastic hose leading away from the unit to your propane tank and there's no hiding the hiss from the gas burner. If there was some way to quiet the sound of the gas entering the burner, that would be ideal because it detracts from the ambiance of the fire pit. ... show more

Love this pit. We bought this because firewood has gotten too expensive and if there is a burn ban you can still use this - no sparks or ember's. It's the perfect size, I put blue fire glass in with the included to bring out the flame it looks great. Depending on where I'm going and how long I'll be there I either use 1lb tanks or a 20lb. I also use it in the back yard. At camp if it is raining I have put it in the middle ofbour canopy and kept the flame low. This is a nice pit, easy to transport, easy to use, when you're done with the fire just turn it off. If you want a smokey campfire smell wrap smoking chunks in foil with a few small holes poked in it. Definitely recommended especially for the list price. ... show more

No more stinky clothes or constantly moving from all the smoke!! I have a love hate relationship with bonfires as I love the whole idea of them but simply hate the smell and smoke and sometimes decent amount of work to keep going. This thing takes care of all those issues and then some! Super easy to use, very portable, in my opinion it also really puts out some heat compared to just a plain fire so it can really keep you warm. We have been using this gas fire pit while camping with our RV. Some campgrounds don't have very good fire pits or there wood quality is horrible. We have experienced wet fire wood on many occasions where this item would have been great to have sooner. The fire pit comes assembled except for the lava rocks that are in bags and need to be installed. The rocks come in 4 bags and are labeled in order of installation. They are different sizes. There is 1 bag of spare rocks. The propane hose is about 8 feet long. The gas dial features ignition when turned from off position. The pit includes a lid and carry strap that attaches with hooks and features elastic straps. The fire puts off good heat and a nice flame. We love this fire pit. The quality is good and the functionality is great. 5 stars ... show more
