I got this to use in my classroom, but I can also see a family enjoying it so much! The students love to plant their seeds and watch them progress. It has 30 spots, so it's big enough for most classes. So easy to assemble and use! I'm also a mother of four and I can't wait to try this at home too. It's awesome! Setting it up was a breeze, and the quality is excellent. One of the most impressive features is how quickly the seeds germinate - just four days in, and we could already see the beginnings of growth. The phone app is another standout feature. It keeps everything so simple by letting you know if you have a task to do. Honestly, the only thing we've had to do so far is fill the water tank when we initially set up the system! The media could not be loaded. The Gardyn 4.0 is a beauty. I love the design and it’s super simple. Just download the Gardyn App and it takes care of itself. It’ll tell you when to add water to the holding tank and it will even adjust the lighting schedule for you depending upon what your plants need. The smart technology knows what it needs because it can see what your plants look like from the two cameras. I was tickled when I saw the map (in the Gardyn App) of where to place each plant so that it gets the right amount of light. It doesn’t take long before small shoots emerge from the plant pods. I got mine within 8 days! I am so excited about this garden. Best of all, I will eat fresh, healthy vegetables all year round. I’m in Ohio and our growing season can be a bit tricky. I got this for my wife for an early Christmas present as she loves to grow plants and she loves to cook so I figured with this, she could do both year round. After paying almost $500 for this setup and getting it all put together, I then found out that I HAVE TO PAY for a subscription to their service in order to unlock their app which is the only way to get the unit to work. There was nothing I saw mentioned in the description that a paid subscription was needed and the unit is worthless without one. My advice is to look around for a different alternative that doesn't require the ongoing fees. It's too late for me but it isn't too late for you. ... show more

My Gardyn was so easy to set up. I loved that I didn't need any tools, and it clicked together effortlessly. It’s really a beautiful and well built structure. All I had to do was fill the tank to the recommended level, fill the pods with the plants that came with the unit, and turn it on!
