I first purchased a flexible expanding hose earlier this year and absolutely love it! So easy to use and coil back up with almost no effect. Now I needed a longer one for my back yard!

    • NOT "Expandable", NOT "Black" -- but a good hose none-the-less!
Website labeled it as "Expandable Garden Hose (50FT, Dark Black)". Even their own pictures show a SILVER colored hose, so why they say it's black is beyond me. It is sliver, and it is a metal-coil (like the flexible kitchen sink sprayer), but it does NOT re-coil as the wording "Expandable" would lead you to believe. Having said all that, it IS a NICE hose. The metal flex-coil allows it to slide along itself or the ground or other obstacles, where a standard rubber hose would be stopped from moving by the friction between itself and the other object. The metal coil covering also is almost puncture proof, and is practically kink proof. This last has a good side and a bad side. Under normal use, most hoses, when dragged from one side of the car you are washing to the other side, its direction will be reversed, and it will kink (bend in half and stop all flow of water). This hose will NOT kink, but will slide off itself and maintain full flow. That's the good side. The bad side of Non-kinking is that it won't kink EVEN IF you want it to!. Let me explain (it's a bad habit this hose won't allow me to continue) -- When I want to remove the nozzle for whatever reason, I have developed the bad habit of "cheating", rather than doing it right. The right way would be to go to the water supply and shut it off. My "cheat" is to grab the hose about a foot from the nozzle and purposefully "kink it". This shuts off the water supply, allows me to open the nozzle to relieve pressure, remove the nozzle, and switch to a different nozzle, then simply "unkink" the hose and continue working. Saves 2 trips back to the water supply to shut off the water, and then to turn it back on again. I won't be able to use that trick with THIS hose -- it simply WON'T kink! This hose at the time I got it was $36.99, which is a decent price for ANY 50-foot hose, let alone one that is unkinkable. And this hose includes a decent spray nozzle (no great shakes, but nothing wrong with it either!) AND 4 hose gaskets. So over all, a pretty good deal. Whether it will stand up to freezes and thaws, and will it get too hot to hold during the hot summer days are a couple of questions I can't yet answer, but for now, it rates a full 5-star rating from me! ... show more

    • Light and flexible metal hose with a plastic nozzle
This is a good-quality durable garden hose, exactly as pictured in the product description. It is very flexible, does not tangle, and coils back up without any problem. The included spray nozzle has 10 different settings. It is made completely out of very light plastic, which will probably not last as long as the hose itself. Even the connection point (where the nozzle attaches to the hose) is plastic. Overall, the hose is durable, not going to fade in the sun, does not tangle, and flexible. The nozzle, on the other hand, will probably end up being the weakest link. ... show more

    • looks nice, good length to it
This hose is perfect for my front planter. Why the people who built my ranch house put the faucet on the end corner but the planter in front center is beyond me, but this hose solves that problem. I previously was only able to find a 30 or 40 foot hose that didn't quite reach the end and I had to resort to spraying from a distance. I am very happy with this hose for it's attractiveness, flexibility (i.e. doesn't kink) and performance. I like that it comes with a sprayer AND extra washers. Because it is metal, you should try to keep it out of direct sunlight and store it in a shady area if possible. There was a warning about that. I am fortunate that I have shade in the area I keep the hose. So far, it has worked nicely this summer. If anything changes, I will update my review. I recommend this hose. ... show more

I've already had a 25 ft stainless steel hose and really like it and wanted another, longer one. Now I have this 50 ft hose and like it too. This hose came with a 10-function plastic nozzle/sprayer and 4 extra washers. I like the stainless-steel hoses because they are lightweight, easy to coil and put away, and tangle a lot less than typical rubber hoses. I've used them for washing the dog because they are so easy to move around, watering plants, you can wash the car or do anything you would do with a typical hose. The included sprayer/nozzle and washers are a bonus. It's hard to go back to using rubber/plastic hoses after using a stainless-steel hose. You can coil a stainless-steel hose much smaller than a rubber hose. At some point I will probably replace my 100-ft hoses with stainless-steel as well. ... show more

This hose is long and sturdy. The outside is metal construction kind of like a gooseneck microphone stand, though far less rigid. It's lighter and more flexible than it might look. I do have a couple of small concerns, none of which warrant lowering my review score... YET. First is that the metal housing expands and contracts pretty freely, so it is very easy to pinch your arm hair (like a metal watch band). Second, since the outside is made of metal, I'm wondering just how hot this hose will get in the Arizona sun. I'm guessing that this could become a burn hazard. Thirdly, will this rust/tarnish and become really gross in a single season? I will update this review if I have any new observations in the coming months. For now, I'm quite pleased. ... show more

    • A Hose That Doesn't Kink (Wow!)
So often products seem like they are gimmicks, and I admit I wondered if this would be one? After all, I have used rubber hoses for most of a lifetime and while they kink and are heavy and are annoying at times, they do work. To my surprise, I found myself liking this quite a bit. First of all, it does not kink. Secondly, it is lightweight in spite of being metal. Third, the fittings are also solid and well made. Fourth, the bonus sprayer is not a piece of junk. The regulating knob is plastic and a challenging to fuddle with, but it works. Overall, I think this hose is absolutely great and the sprayer is decent. ... show more
